Can I Miss School For This And Is So Can You Help Me Come Up With Something To Say To School.

Going to court because i missed school..HELP!?

Warning: do not tell the judge you want to drop out. Do not tell him you feel you do not need school- believe me he will throw the book at you for an answer like this. Judges never want to hear a 13 year old tell them, in essence, that you know better than him. His job is to make sure you stay in school not change the law for just you. Be very humble and allow the judge to tell you what to do, you just explain why you are not attending school.

Tell him you do not want to be a truant but the school you are attending now is unbearable and you are unable to concentrate on your studies due to the bullying and intimidating behavior toward you from the other students. -Stop talking at that point and listen to his suggestions carefully.

( I live in Ca. and here they are sending parents to jail for allowing their children to miss school. Be sure and tell the judge that your parents are not the reason you stay home.)

-After you listen carefully to his suggestions, which just may be home schooling, but allow him to suggest this, not you, if he doesn't - and he is done speaking, then If you would like to suggest something that is okay Ask the judge if their is any other alternative for you, then bring up home schooling as an idea. You might also suggest the judge allow you to go to a special education school for troubled kids.
(FYI:The education there may be more individualized and less students per class.)

Important: Speak to the judge loud and clear do not be ashamed of yourself, speak to him in a more 'matter of fact' voice The judge will listen to someone who is not meek and mousy and you will sound more honest when you speak confidently.

Do you let your kids miss school when they are sick?

No, I never made my kids go to school when they were sick with a fever, vomiting, excessive coughing or anything that might have looked like they'd give it to the rest of the class.
l. Why make everyone at school sick?
2.How are they going to learn when they feel miserable?

As a teacher myself, I've seen kids sent in, and they obviously don't feel well. They come to me first off, and tell me, "Miss I don't feel good." I feel their heads, and they have fevers! I say, didn't you tell your mom? They say, "Yes, but she made me come anyway." So, then they go to the nurse, and the school has to call them up to pick up their kids. I had one kid whose parents never showed up. He was so miserable, I had him lie in the back of the classroom on the rug until school was out. And he slept. How sad!

Don't send your kid to school if they're sick.

That said. Sometimes kids will fake it. I recognize that. My own kids tried it with me. If they said, "I have a headache." I'd give them some Tylenol and told them to try. If they had a stomachache but no other symptoms, I'd say, "Try." Then if the school called, I'd know. But once they stayed home sick, they don't go anywhere else that day. No playing when everyone else comes home from school.

Is it bad to have missed over 40 days of school? =|?

first of all, you posted your question in DIY home & garden .... wrong section lol. but to answer your question, yes missing 40 days of school is bad. what grade are you in anyway?? .... don't your parents wake you up for school? man, if i missed that many days when i was still in school, my parents would kill me! what do you tell them to get off the hook? lol. i wish the "i'm tired, i'm out of it" excuse worked for me. then again, no i don't, because i graduated and went to college. =)

you need to get up off your @$$ and get to SCHOOL. kids don't realize how important school really is until it's too late - when they don't graduate, have to get a GED and can't even keep crappy jobs throughout their life. right now, nothing is more important than your education and your future .. not trying to sound like your mom or anything, but take it from me. you have no idea how many people i know from school that didn't care enough to go, ended up failing or dropping out, thought it would be enough to get their GED, working low-pay jobs and wish they would have just gone to school. seriously, it's not that hard to get up and go to school just 5 days a week. if you can't handle getting up to go to school now, imagine what's gonna happen in a few years when you have to work a job to pay your bills? .... and i'm sure you think "oh it's different, i'll be getting paid to do that so i won't mind" ... yeah, no. i wish i had it so easy as to just have the responsibility of getting up to go to school until 3pm monday through friday. you better get used to it, welcome to the real world honey!! .... get up, get an education, if it's cold put a sweater on. if you're tired, drink a sugar-free red bull or something. if you're too comfy in bed when you wake up, sleep on the floor and see if that helps, lol i dunno ..... but you should get with it and get your butt to school and think about your future. lol k i'm done lecturing =)

Can you miss school because of having bad cramps?

i woke up this morning with the worst cramps i've ever had in my entire life. i took some midol but it didnt really stop the pain. I always have pretty bad cramps but these were terrible.

I woke up, took a shower, got dressed and was ready to school and i was telling my mom about how i am out of midol and i asked her if she could pick me up some. I also explained how painful they were and she suggested i stay home frlom school.

she called me school and told them that i had bead cramps and i was staying home today and the (male) secretary said that is no reason to miss school and it would go unexcused.

can a scholol legally say that cramps is not an excuse to miss school? obviously my parents thought it was a good enough reason. i never miss school and this is my second absent day all year. and now i am going to have to take zeros in all assignments and tests they did today because its unexcused!

can they do that?

I missed the bus, mom's going to be ticked! What do I say?

Seriously when I was your age I would have tried to make up an excuse to get away with something like this.

However now I have kids of my own I would much prefer to be told the truth than a pack of lies. If I were you I would come clean and explain you missed the bus because you weren't ready. Tell her that when you go to school tomorrow you will speak to the teachers of the classes you missed and get then work from them that you should have done today.

If I was your Mom I would appreciate this better than some bad story that will eventually catch you up and bite you in the ***!

Good luck kid ;)

How can I tell my mom I didn't go to school today without her yelling at me?

Well, if it is true that your mom hits you, I would start by talking to a school counselor and tell them that you are afraid to tell your mom that you missed your bus because she ends up hitting you when you tell her anything like that. Let them take it from there. Your mom doesn't have a right to scream at you and hit you. It's not appropriate human behavior, even if she is mad. FWIW, I wouldn't want to walk 6 miles either, but I wouldn't just not go to school, I would find someone in the morning, who could help get me there, even if I were going to be late.  In the final analysis, you may do things wrong, but you don't deserve to be screamed and hit if that is what is actually happening. It may, in fact, be the reason why you make some of the choices and mistakes you make. You're 15. You have a lot to learn. That's your job. Talk to an adult who treats the situation, appropriately, like an adult. Yelling and screaming and slapping is not helping you learn from your mistakes.

Missed school bus?

tell your parents what happened. ask them if they will call the school for you. they should just say that my child has missed today because she missed the bus and we couldnt take her to school because we were gone at work.

Has anyone else missed a lot of school because of anxiety/depression?

I'm a freshman in high school now and let me just say it's the worst thing thats ever happened to me. I hate high school so much. I've always had anxiety problems but ever since high school started it got SO much worse. I'm going to see a therapist now, but I don't think its helping. I've missed probably most of the school year by now, and it practically just started. I am so depressed and I really don't know what to do anymore. I know if I keep missing school my mom might get in trouble but honestly i CANT go to school. I'm not trying to make excuses either. If I could go to school everyday like a normal kid I would. I have school phobia and I'm physically unable to go to school. I try to get up and get dressed for school, but I can't even do that. I have anxiety attacks every night and every morning and its just so terrible :( I came from a school with 150 kids . Now I go to this high school with 4000+ kids in it. I don't have any friends, and I'm most likely failing all of my classes right now. Is there anyone else out there like me? What do I do?

Do you ever let your kids stay at home from school every now and then?

I did this regularly through the school years. One time in 8th grade our son had some buddies over. The discussion was how to fake being sick to convince your parents to let you stay home from school. When they asked our son what he did, he answered truthfully: I just let him stay home.My view, of which I convinced my wife, was that going to school is work both there and with homework. As our son did very well in school, we would let him take off a day or two every quarter. Our son would look at he days where there was little work and let us know in advance. In high school, there WERE a few times where he was not as prepared as he needed to be and he would ask me to sign him out early. I did this readily. He would explain the reason to us and follow through on the commitment.I made the right call as our son was a valedictorian of his graduating HS class. And there is my credential above.Note: Our son has always been motivated and self-directed. Because of this, it worked for us, but YMMV.
