Can I Take More Acetaminophen

Can u take acetaminophen with an empty stomach?

Certainly! Acetaminophen has little to no gastrointestinal side effects and is absorbed with or without food.

The only time you really want to avoid taking acetaminophen is when you've been drinking (alcohol) quite heavily, or you chronically drink more than 3-4 drinks/day. Then you might look at ibuprofen or naproxen.

Can I take 500mg acetaminophen 5 hours after taking cheratussin ac syrup?

Yes it is absolutely safe to take Acetaminophen regardless of when you take it in your situation. Cheratussin ac contains these 2 ingredients. 10mg of Codeine and 100mg of guaifenesin in each teaspoonful or 5 ML's.

The Codeine dose required to suppress your cough is much less than the dose required to be effective for pain relief. For example Tylenol #3 contains 30mg of Codeine and 300mg of Acetaminophen. Even at a dose of 30mg, Codeine is not really great for pain control. Usually Tylenol #3 will have directions that allow the medication to be dosed at 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours.

You can take Acetaminophen at the same time as the Cheratussin ac. There are simply no drug interactions between the medications you were prescribed and Acetaminophen.

Just for my own curiousity, is 500mg of acetaminophen enough to treat your headaches?? If you are a teen or adult 1000mg of acetaminophen is typically required for adequate relief of a bad headache. If 500mg works for you then stick with that dose. Just know that 1000mg can be taken.

As in all cases, when I recommend any product with acetaminophen, it is very important that you do not take more than 4000mg in a 24 hour period. Doses greater than this will damage your liver.

What is the highest safe amount of acetaminophen and ibuprofen to take?

There is a rule of thumb for ibuprofen...400 every four hours, 600 every 6, 800 every 8.

As far as acetaminophen, 1000mg at a time is usually the most per dose. However, do NOT take more than 4000mg/24 hours. Anything higher than that can be liver toxic. So, if you're taking 1000mg at a time, take it every 6 hours rather than every 4. If you'd rather take something every 4 hours, take 650mg instead (2 "regular strength" instead of 2 "extra strength").

You can take ibuprofen and acetaminophen together, as they are different types of pain medication.

Can I take Midol just an hour after taking Tylenol?

Midol has a few preparations - one of which contains Tylenol or Acetaminophen.

The recommend maximum dose of Tylenol in a 24 hour period is 4 grams or 4000 mg. This would be 2 extra strength Tylenol (500 mg each) every six hours or 4 different times over a 24 hour period.

One preparation of Midol has 500 mg Acetominophen, one has 200 mg Ibuprofen, and one has 220 mg Naproxen. Tylenol affects the liver and Ibuprofen and Naproxen affect the kidneys. If you have the preparation that contains Tylenol, just follow the recommendations above for the maximum doses.

So, either way it would be safe to take a Midol an hour after Tylenol.

Can Excedrin and Tylenol be taken together?

Yes, but make sure you know why.Excedrin= Combination of Aspirin, Acetaminophen, and CaffeineTylenol= AcetaminophenAcetaminophen is one of the safest pain relievers there is. The Excedrin combines this already with an NSAID (aspirin; comes with its own pros and cons) and caffeine. This proves effective to treat headaches.Acetaminophen is also one of the deadliest pain relievers if taken in excess amounts.4,000 milligrams=4 grams= MAXIMUM UPPER LIMIT DOSAGE beyond which your risk of acute liver toxicity rises tremendously. It's a horrible, painful death over days, not hours so make sure to check and keep track of your doses from ALL sources (of which Tylenol and Excedrin both are). This risk rises if you've been taking acetaminophen in excess over multiple days. You won't feel sick until it's already too late so if you overdose, go to the emergency room immediately. Be aware of how much you took and take containers if possible.Remember, it is NOT an NSAID; rather, it works in a different way to relieve pain such as that associated with headaches and other non-inflammatory sources, and also to reduce fever. The major risks occur in overdose, and it is generally safer. It can also be taken in pregnancy and by children. NSAIDs, act to inhibit inflammation. This can be helpful after injury (strain, arthritis, etc). They are, however, hard on the digestive system so Excedrin, and all NSAID containing products should be taken with food and ideally only in the short term (i.e., until pain subsides). Aspirin carries with it a blood-thinning ability so be aware of any interactions this may cause.I hope this helped.

How many Tylenol PM 500 mg tablets is it safe to take at once?

How many Tylenol PM 500 mg tablets is it safe to take at once?I agree with the 3 earlier responses. Package labeling is safe - 2 at bedtime wil not cause toxic effects. However, at this dose many people will be sedated upon arising hours later. The half life of diphenhydramine in adults is 7–12 hours, and in the elderly 9–18 hours. This is how long it takes for the body to get rid of half the drug.Per the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration: Effects on Driving: The drug manufacturer states that patients should be warned about engaging in activities requiring mental alertness such as driving a car. Diphenhydramine has repeatedly been shown to severely impair tracking and reaction time performance in actual on-the-road driving tests. Single doses of 50 mg have been shown to cause significant impairment during a 90 km highway test (measuring vehicle following, constant speed and lateral position).
