Can I Take Something For Anxiety On Top Of Topamax

Topamax 25mg headaches?

Hi my name is Stephanie and I have been on Topamax for 4 years and I have had a complicated experience. I take 100mg a day, 50 in the morning and 50 at night. I suffered debilitating headaches for over a year and almost didn't graduate but then I started this medicine and I have had very few since then. But the side effects have been bad for me, however, they are nothing compared to the headaches I guess. When I started, I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. And then in the next two months I lost another 10 put that was it in the 4 years. It helped me maintain my weight though. I lost my appetite for the first 6 months but after that I gained it back lol, and with a vengence but never gained a pound. If you never have an appetite it won't change the medicine at all, it only effects certain people this way. You will have to discuss this with your doctor. Because the medicine effects your frontal lobe, people have experienced memory problems such as forgeting words and it also makes you very tired. This most likely will go away but sometimes in rare cases (my case) it will last the length of the medicine. But like I said I rarely get headaches anymore. And it doesn't matter when you take the pill it is just easier to take it at night because you don't get as tired. But once you start taking it make sure you stay consistant in the time you take it and if you miss a dose just skip that one and wait til the next one do not take double. Talk more about these questions with your doctor. You will know like in the first 2 or 3 weeks if Topamax is right for you. It's gunna be either you like it or you hate it but I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck with everything. Hope it all works out for you.

Does anyone take Topamax for Migraines? I have been taking it for a week!!?

I have been on Topamax for several years. I take it for chronic pain and not migraines, although it did stop mine. When I first started taking the Topamax I had the same side effects as you described. I had the tingling in my hands and also in my feet. It takes a little bit of time for your body to get used to the drug and then the tingling does stop. Sometimes it does come back when the dosage is increased, but not as bad as when you are first put on the medication. I do have some memory issues also, but whether or not it is from the medication or the disease process that I have , I do not know. I do know that the medication works very well for me. Another side effect that I did have from the Topamax is weight loss. It does not happen to everyone, but can happen. I do know of many people who take this medication who have had the same side-effects and they say the same thing about the tingling. Do not worry too much about it. If you are concerned about it, it never hurts to let your doctor know about any side-effects that you are having. It is better to be on the safe side. They usually start off on a low dose of it and work their way up as your body gets used to it, until you get the results that you are looking for or until the side-effects are too much. Good luck and I hope it works for you. For me, the med is a Godsend.

Is or has anyone ever taken Depakote AND Topamax?

I just got back from my psych, and while things are going pretty well, I had a 'blip' (what I like to call them), and am also having some issues sleeping. So, now, my meds are:

Depakote 1000 mg/day
Lexapro 10 mg/day
Topamax (can't remember...just dropped it off at CVS)
and Zyprexa (for sleep, 5mg I think, but only as needed).

These last two are the newbies, and although not too concerned about the Zyprexa, I was wondering if anyone else has ever taken Topamax and Depakote together? Of course, I can't help myself, and needed to jump on and look up both meds, how they work, what they do, how the interact, and have now proceeded to freak myself out. lol.

Any feedback would be great!

What are the benefits of taking Lexapro and Valium together?

Lexapro is an antidepressant, but also helps with anxiety. It takes about 4–6 weeks to accumulate to a therapeutic dose. A doctor may prescribe a short course of Valium until your Lexapro kicks in.If you have severe anxiety, they can be used to assist each other in quelling your anxiety. Long-term benzo use is really for a worst case scenario, when nothing else works. They’re now thought to contribute to Alzheimer’s. Not to mention, they’re HELL to come off of.I take Lexapro, and I love it! The only problem I had was nausea. I noticed it helped my anxiety pretty quickly. It’s not immediate relief like Valium, but once it builds up in your system, you notice less and less anxiety.Everyone is different, but between my Klonopin and it, I can at least manage my anxiety.

What are the dangers of taking phentermine and Xanax at the same time?

In general, taking medications that have counteractive effects on the body is seen as a risky practice (think heroin and cocaine). Phentermine is a stimulant (which is why it takes away your appetite), while Xanax is a benzodiazepine and is a sedative. Will you die by taking them together? Probably not. There are no known biological interactions between these two medicines. What I will say, is that if you suffer from anxiety (hence the Xanax), Phentermine will most likely make your anxiety worse, while Xanax can lower your inhibitions and cause you to eat foods you know you shouldn’t be eating while dieting (which is why people take phentermine). This is all said assuming you are taking the prescribed doses of these medications. If you are taking these medications in higher doses in an attempt to get high (I am not accusing you of this, I am just stating a “what-if”), then you may be asking for trouble, especially because unlike many stimulants, Phentermine has a much a stronger negative side effect profile compared to many other stimulants. Also, if you were to take Xanax in a high enough dose, you may blackout, and then have no recollection of actions you took while the drug was taking effect. To conclude, if you have taken your Phentermine, and have a panic attack, I see no reason to not take a small amount of Xanax for relief, but of course you may want to ask a doctor this same question, and get the opinion of a medical professional, as opposed to the opinion of a random person on the internet.
