What is a trade-only event, like E3?

check this: https://register.rcsreg.com/r2/e3expo2011/ga/top.html

I want to go to an event. E3. The Electronic Expo! I want to go there, but, if you look at the website, E3 says it's not open to the general public, does that just mean that it's not free? Or do you have to trade...money? I don't understand!! What is a trade-only event!!!!

Are there any benefits to open trade for the US?

Yes, enormous benefits.

Basic economics...Adam Smith 101: free and open markets drive prices down, production & profits up, and increase the wealth of all nations.

My short answer to your question is that a "trade surplus" or "deficit" is largely a Bogeyman: a poorly defined monster whose primary purpose has to do with politics & manipulation rather than greater economic good.

For example, does California run a trade surplus with Mississippi? Are you worried about the never ending flow of cash from states like Texas & New York to states like West Virginia and Louisiana? Is it in the long run interest of North Dakota to run trade deficits with Minnesota year after year after year? The answer, of course, no one cares. It actually happens, mind you, but no one cares. In the end, "everyone" knows that the country as a whole benefits from "unbalanced" trade between the states. In the end, everyone ends up better off. No question.

The exact same thing is true of trade with other countries, but as soon as you let in the politics our partners become "damn foreigners" and rather than looking at the big picture where everyone is better off, we become obsessed about the details -- particularly, who is benefiting "more."

Can I open up an E-trade account with a bad credit score?

Yes you can open an account with any broker, including a mediocre broker like ETrade. Buying & selling stock has nothing to do with your credit score. Sure there are many significantly better brokers than ETrade, but it's your "right" to open an account with them if you so choose.

Of the three broker you mention Scottrade is the best. None are great.

Before opening an account you may want to take 6-12 months to learn the basics. If not... you'll most likely lose money from making ignorant, basic mistakes.

Consider these three brokers also. They are all excellent and are especially good for new traders;
Charles Schwab
Fidelity Investments
Ameritrade

Good luck.

Is there a law that stops minors (under 18) from trading stock?

I want to open a etrade account but was told I cannot open an account on my own. I would be fine with a custodial account if it was still my account that my parents could have access to (not that I still don't find that insulting) but thats not even what they have. I have to literally get my mom to log in and trade stock for me. I want to send a complaint to etrade but want to make sure I'm not asking them to do something that is out of their hands.

Are open-ended mutual funds traded on exchanges?

Open ended funds are not traded on stock exchanges as typical securities, but closed ended funds and interval funds can be traded on stock exchanges like any other security. Only brokers (Members) of the exchange can transact in the closed ended or interval funds on the stock exchange. However, mutual fund distributors can perform online transactions in open ended funds using the stock exchange infrastructure in mutual fund segments on the BSE (BSE STAR) as well as the NSE. This follows almost the same timings as open ended fund transactions through an AMC or its registrar. The distributors need not be brokers (members) on the exchanges.

Why is stock market trading not 24×7?

Do you work without break? I think not. Nor do most people, Stock trading to an extent is 24–7. But is it fair???You can trade Boeing and IBM around the clock. Who knows most about Boeing, or IBM? People in the US. Not being chauvinistic, that is where the companies, and he info on the is located. You can trade both in Asia, then Europe, finally await the open in the US, tho both will trade after hours and pre market. But they won’t move much pre and after market, but the new information isn’t there. In THEORY, a stockprice reflects all available outstanding information at any given point int time. What comes out about IBM at 1:30? something you have to act on? The IBM people are sleeping. You can trade it, go ahead, trade your lights out, but did you have true info that wasn’t known at 4 PM EST? No. I could trade India stocks right now, this minute. And get y head handed to me when the real market opens..The point of a market is to provide liquidity, the ability to buy and sell. Based on all known information. You can trade 24X7, and you are a maniac, because you are acting but not doing any good. Take a sominex, and call me in the morning.

Is it possible to trade before the market open, even though the stock does not have a pre-market/after-hours price? If not, how come some stocks have a gap between high/low prices once the market opens?

The opening price (which may be a huge gap from yesterday's closing price) doesn't necessarily mean that the stock actually traded at that price. It just means that's where the market is right now. So overnight, even if no shares exchanged hands, market participants had the time to digest the news and revalue the shares. People will at that point in time have a new anchor on where they think the price should be. So next morning, when the markets open, market makers will open up with new bids and new asks. But that's all that means: new bids and new asks. It doesn't mean that any shares have necessarily transacted there. Gaps happen all the time for shares that may or may not trade in extended hours trading.Just remember, "the markets" is not some omniscient all-powerful being, it comprises of people like you and me, human beings and traders, and at the end of the day, prices are just what these traders feel represents the intrinsic value of the shares.
