Can My Father Discharge Himself The Hospital He Sick Of Staying There How Can He If His Doctor Not

How much would it cost to stay in a hospital in America?

I live in England, so the NHS pays for hospital visits, but I have a school project to figure out how much it would've cost if I lived in America, without insurance, and without a payment plan. I was in hospital for 50 days (in a row), I saw a physiotherapist for 35 days out of the 50, and I saw a physiotherapist (hydro) for 35 days. I saw my doctor once a week, the specialist nurse once a week, and the pharmacist twice a week. (this doesn't include meds.)

I really appreciate the help, thanks

Do doctors visit other doctors when they fall ill or do they prescribe their own treatment and medication?

This answer is purely based on my observation of my dad, who is a quite senior consulting Physician in Pune city. One fine day, when everything was rosy and the day was going pretty fine, my dad suddenly collapsed; he was having a seizure. We took him to a hospital immediately and within an hour he was back to normal and was laughing it off. Now even my mom is a surgeon, so she consulted with the doctors in the hospital and they came to a conclusion that it would be best if they keep him overnight and run some tests. But this really annoyed my dad. Annoyed, as in he found it mildly amusing that a bunch of doctors thought they knew what course to run on his body. He who knew all his symptoms and he laughed it off and said, plainly and in a very passable manner, “I know better than all of you what to do here, I am senior than all of you and just give me blah blah medicine and let us disperse.”My dad is not an arrogant man, infact he is the most down to earth person I know. So when he said this, he really meant it. Of course we as worried family members immediately told him to just listen to what the other doctors had to say, and do the goddamn tests. He laughed. He laughed in our faces. Oh what a comical scene it must have been to witness as outsiders!Mom tried talking to him, a couple of his really close friends were called to try to talk some sense, but he remained stubborn and just smiled and said he knew what was best for him. Which was kind of hard to refute. But finally we gave up, and resigned to take him home. This was when the doctor in charge stepped in and very firmly told my dad he had to do those tests at any cost, even if they show everything is fine. (Mind you, he was junior to my dad and addressed him as Sir.) Surprisingly, my dad agreed. And all was well.So I just think every doctor has that ego issue where they think they know exactly everything and can prescribe themselves, but in the end they do go to other doctors and take treatment from them.

If I'm suicidal and go to a hospital, what do they do?

Typically if you go to a hospital, you will wait a while. No one waiting in the lobby will know what your problem is, unless you tell them, or talk loudly. A psychologist or mental health professional will evaluate you in a private area, and decide whether you should be admitted. They will treat you with dignity and respect.

The primary goal of emergency mental health hospitalization is to stabilize you. Once that occurs, they will discharge you, and possibly arrange outpatient counseling and psychiatric help. Detainment is typically based on the likelihood you will hurt yourself or someone else.

If you are truly suicidal, I wouldn't let anxieties about the process stop you from seeking help.

If I admit myself to a mental health facility run by a hospital, can the police come in and arrest me?

I'm in North Carolina if it helps. If I had a bench warrant out for my arrest, which had been out for 2 months or so due to lack of public defender help and missing a court date, and I go to the Emergency Room to admit myself into the mental health clinic, can police arrest me and take me to jail before or after I get there? Or is the place a safe haven where I cannot be touched? Even though they may be waiting for me to get out and pick me up. FYI, I wouldn't be going in there just to hide.
