Can My Friend Move Out At The Age 17

At what age can you move out of your parents house in Ontario without consent?

At the age of 14 or 15 if you run away the police probably won’t forcibly return you to your parent’s home. They will check to see if you are okay and safe but likely will not intervene to return you to your parent’s house. You will still need a guardian because you are not eligible to take care of most of your day to day needs like obtaining your own place, and since you are legally required to be in school and there are legal limits on the number of hours you can work during the week you will likely find it difficult to go to school and feed yourself. Under the age of 16 you may end up in the care of Children’s Aid .In the Workplace: FAQs Justice for Children and Youth

Legal Age to Move Out in the State of NM?

In New Mexico, eighteen is, for most purposes, the age of majority. Persons under the age of eighteen are considered minors under the law. A minor’s residence is presumed to be the same as his/her parents’ or legal guardian’s.
A minor cannot usually establish residency separate from that of his parents or legal guardian, with the singular exception of automatic legal emancipation upon marriage. What this means is you must be eighteen year old to begin to establish residency apart from your parents or guardian unless you're married (and I hope you don't go that far just to get out of your parent's house). Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear, but good luck anyway. Hopefully, you don't have too long to wait until you're 18.

Could I move out at the age of 17 in Texas with parents moving out of state? *with consent*

You could certainly move out, but where would you live? Apartment complexes will not rent to you unless you're 18 and in some places you got to be 21! Most hotel rooms won't rent to you either unless you're 21. if you have some friends or other family that already have a place you could definitely stay with them. But you could not be included on the lease because you're still a legal minor. Even if you have your parents permission to move away you still can't sign any contracts. Which means you're going to live at the mercy of your roommates who could decide at any moment for whatever reason to kick you out. So while legally you can move away, practically you really shouldn't because there are way too many serious obstacles at your age. Then there's the problem of work and school. Legally you still are required to finish school. And that means you're not going to be able to get a full-time job. And you're not going to get any job that pays anything above $5 or $6 an hour and working part time you can't afford even to share an apartment. Unless you're independently wealthy the only way you can move away from your parents is to find some other place to live for free.

Can I move in with a friend without parental consent at 17 in Texas?

The legal age of majority in Texas is 18. Texas has a weird rule for unemancipated minors. If your parents do not know where you are, the police can take you into custody as a “missing child,” and return you to your parents. But if your parents do know where you are, you are not “missing” and the police cannot take you into custody. This weird rule applies only to 17-year-olds. Minors under the age of 17 can be taken into custody and returned to their parents regardless of whether their parents know where they are.Because the rules are somewhat convoluted, I’m giving you a link to an information page produced by the State of Texas. It has several links to places where you can learn more information about your rights and responsibilities.Guides: Can a Seventeen-Year-Old Leave Home?: Home

Can i legally move out of my parents house at the age of 17 in Kansas?

Okay maybe not but, Another way to gain legal adult status before you turn 18 is through emancipation. Emancipation means you are self-supporting, free from parental control, and you have all the rights and responsibilities that come with adulthood. In Kansas, if you are accompanied by someone over 21, you can apply for emancipation by filing a petition stating your age, that you have lived in Kansas for at least one year, and the reasons that you want to gain the rights and responsibilities of an adult. A judge may grant you emancipated minor status if he or she finds that you are of sound mind, that you can transact your own affairs, and that your best interest is promoted through emancipation.

With parental consent, can you move out of the home, at age 17, in the state of NC? Can you move out without?

I live in North Carolina also. A few years ago, my daughter's best friend - also 17 at the time - was having lots of trouble with her parents and step-parents and the aunt who was her legal guardian, and she asked if she could live with us. I called the child protection agency first thing, and asked if there were any legal ramifications for letting this girl live with us. They said that my husband and I couldn't sign things like permission slips from school and we couldn't represent ourselves as being her legal guardians. They also said that because she was 17, the judges in the family court system would take into consideration her wishes as to where she wanted to live, and they would want her to explain why she wanted to live there. Since she wanted to live with us, chances are a judge would allow her to live with us - and that's only if her parents or her aunt pressed the issue and tried to take it to court.

But here's something you need to remember: if you move out, you are putting a HUGE wedge between yourself and your parents, and you may never be able to repair your relationship with them. You may not care now, but you will later. You also need to remember, once you leave their home, you can be considered a runaway. They also may not have to provide financial support. Are your friend's parents willing to provide you food, shelter, utilities, until you're able to support yourself? What are you going to do about paying for medical care? How about transportation - car, car insurance, gasoline?

The best thing for you to do is locate the Department of Social Services in your county and call them. They're the experts at what you can and can't do, and what the consequences might be.

Moving Out at Age 17? I Live in Michigan?

It is correct that as 17, you could run away from home and the courts would have no jurisdiction to force you to return home. However, your parents would still be your legal guardians (you cannot be emancipated without parental consent or a court order), and as a minor you would have no way to enter into legal contracts (like a lease agreement or ownership agreement of a trailer).

But here's the thing... be sure you really understand what you're getting into. As 17- and 18-year olds you have no established credit, so if you're going to buy a trailer, you'll have to buy it in cash. Do you already have several thousand dollars saved up? You'll have to lease a spot in a trailer park or other piece of land (and put down a deposit: more upfront money), and you'll have to pay for water and power. You'll have to buy food and clothing. You'll have to pay for a phone and maybe Internet access. You'll have to pay for a car, or public transportation. Have you really sat down and put together a complete budget to make sure your $8-an-hour part-time jobs are going to cut it? Your parents probably pay for things that you're not even aware of.

You'll probably have no medical insurance, so what happens if you get sick? What happens if, after living with two other guys in cramped quarters, you get sick of each other and start fighting? What happens if there's a fire or a tornado that destroys the place? Will you be paying for insurance too?

Frankly, it sounds like a pretty dumb idea. From what you've described, your parents are not abusing you or failing to provide for you. They're just imposing rules on you, which is within their rights as parents, and they're probably acting in your best interests to boot. Better options for you are: (1) wait a year until you're 18; (2) if you feel like you're an adult, then have a reasonable adult discussion with your parents about your options, or (3) have a discussion with a school counselor about your situation.

Oklahoma law? Legal age to move out.?

Without the approval and help of your parents or legal guardians you would have to be eighteen (18) years of age or be judicially emancipated.

Oklahoma law provides authority for minors to request judicial emancipation. Statute provides as follows:

"The district courts shall have authority to confer upon minors the rights of majority concerning contracts, and to authorize and empower any person, under the age of eighteen (18) years, to transact business in general, or any business specified, with the same effect as if such act or thing were done by a person above that age; and every act done by a person so authorized shall have the same force and effect in law as if done by persons at the age of majority. Okla. Stat. tit. 10, § 91 (1973)."

In Missouri, what is the legal age to move out without having to be emancipated?

Your cop needs more training. The age of majority in Missouri is 17. You are considered an adult in Missouri at that age, although you still can't enter into a contract or vote or anything set by higher (Federal) law.

You cannot run away at 17, as an adult can't run a way. You can legally leave and your parents cannot file a runaway report on you. They may be able to file a missing person, but that doesn't mean anything. If you are located, that is the end of it. The police cannot force you to go home, or even make you call Mom and tell her you are OK.
