Can I still go into job corps if I have a felony?
Yes, but there are exceptions. Certain felonies and misdemeanors can restrict you from participating in the Job Corps (some drug, sex and/or violent offenses for example) and if you are currently under supervision (probation, parole, etc.) you have to be released before starting the program. Best thing to do is talk to one of the counselors. Worst thing they can do is say no. I've linked the Job Corps Handbook below, it has more information on the process
I want to go to JOB CORPS, but.....?
i don't know what i want to study I am 17 years old, no high school education what so ever. i am thinking hard about entering the job corps program because my twin brother is in it and he is doing quite well. If i stop being such a coward and go, i'll be working to get my g.e.d. Then i'm not really sure what trade i want to study.. I have been THINKING about and been very interested in Business technology, but i'm not exactly sure what its all about i am so confused and so scared of what the future is going to hold for me with no education that is why i really want to get something going. my first interest is cosmetology, but a friend told me that i should take business technology, OR office systems technology (or something like that, i'm not quite sure), and THEN start going to school for cosmetology. I am just so incredibly confused and nervous on what to do & honestly i am absolutely clueless on where to even begin. i am ashamed to say it, but i am absolutely on a path to nowhere... and the worst part of it all i am an EXTREMELY shy and quiet person & that is something that makes me even more scared to get the ball rolling. i get nervous when people that i don't know even speak to me & i have no advice or support from my family or anyone. i just need help.. im scared.. i know i have to put my fears aside and do SOMETHING, but i have no clue where to start. i am not financially able to support myself, ill be 18 in December and everyday i get closer to being an adult it scares me more..... if anyone has any advice, please help. it would be very appreciated. Can you get into job corp with a criminal record?
It is possible to enter Job Corps with a criminal record. Much depends on the nature of the conviction and how long since the conviction. If you are convicted of a felony your chances are slim. However, if you are convicted of shop lifting your chances are better. You need to have met all your obligations to the court and not be required to have face to face visits with a Probation or Parole officer. The best way to find out if you can be admitted is to contact your local Job Corps Admissions Counselor and schedule an appointment. Tell them about your criminal history and keep in mind that the truth is best as they will do a background check. Hope you at least check it out it is a great program.

My little brother just turned 18 and he is always getting in trouble, don't want to clean and thinks every thing should be given to him.I want him to attend Job corp so he can get on his feet and learn a little responsibilty. I've been living with my Mom and she has been getting me in trouble and lying to the cops saying we would hit our sisters when we really didn't. She did not like my brother and I because we looked like our dad so she did not like that. I've been trying to go to job corps when I was living with her but I was stuck on probation. S one day she lied on me again and my probation officer just told me ima send you to jail for 10 so you can get off probation and go to job corps. So now I'm not living with her and I'm in a GED program and I can't stand it. I called my administrator for job corps and he said call back Friday. So I'm worried they wont take me because i have a misderminor. ive never got introuble with the law only with my mom. I have no feloneys and i only have misderminer for stuff like simple assult on my sisters but its a lie. Please answer me! I really want to succeed in life because I'm tired of people saying I'm never gonna be nothing. I wanna show all of them.
Is job corp a good idea for me?
I am thinking about going to job corp. I am a 22 year old female and My life basically sucks, I can't get a job, I live with my great aunt and as hard as I try I still feel unappreciated. My bf constantly gives me money to pay her cable and to help her buy food but she constantly gives me a hard time and if I become upset with her, she makes the children in the house treat me like a criminal and steer clear my path and not talk to me. I feel really bad I feel like my life isn't going anywhere. My bf can't help too much because he lives with his own parents.and is struggling with them and giving me almost everything he has to help. None of my siblings or I can go to college because my mother won't sign any of our financial aid papers and disowned her daughters. I wanted to call it quits and go to a shelter. My boyfriend told me try to go to job corps. I have heard of it but never thought about it. What is it like? Would a person like me benefit from it? Is it a good idea to try? Please serious answers only!!! I'm not complaining just looking for a positive outlook on life.
