Can Someone Describe Usmc Basic For Me Or Give Me An Idea Of What To Expect

Can someone describe bootcamp from start to finish (Marines)?

The worst part is the latrines.

What score on the ASVAB do I need to become a marine corps basic rifleman?

The ASVAB score doesn't tell you what you qualify for. The Marines require a GT score of 80 or higher to become an rifleman.

Just a comment, Marines don't have infantrymen. You described it correctly as a rifleman.

With a 1200 SAT score, you shouldn't have a problem.

Can someone explain to me what happens to someone in the USMC recruit separation platoon?

My brother joined the marines and shipped out to boot camp in Parris Island, SC exactly 2 weeks ago. He was in shape, and seemed as if he would do just fine. Last Thursday, we received a phone call from him stating that he was moved to the RSP (recruit separation platoon) because of health reasons. We called up his recruiter, who was able to call down there and find out that my brother was moved there due to a heart condition and high blood pressure, and that he would be sent home. Does anyone know what exactly happens in these separation platoons? Can we write and send things to him while he's there? How long will it be before he is able to come home? Do they provide him with transportation home? My family is really in the dark about all of this and any information would really be helpful and appreciated.

Can someone explain carbon-14 dating to me?

I'm reasonably intelligent, but science just isn't my thing. I read the wikipedia article, and a few other websites, but I'm still pretty confused.

I believe in evolution, but many creationists say that carbon-14 dating is circular logic. They present it as:
"How do you know hold that fossil is?"
"It was found in rock that is 100 million years old!"
"How do you know how old the rock is?"
"It was found with a fossil inside that is 100 million years old!"

I'm sure that explanation isn't right, but I'd like someone to tell me a little more about it, in as basic terms as you can. :) Thanks!

What can I expect to go through in Marine Corps boot camp? I am scared of failure and scared of life after BC.

First of all you have some classy friends who know squat about the Marine Corps but yet they feel the need to run their mouths..

People who dont enlist for whatever reason have only one way to justify their actions and this way is by putting them down..I hope your genius of friends are not college students because this would worry me..Why our future of America is making such asinine statements is beyond me.Not only are their statements childish but they show a bit of cowardice..

As for your comparison to football practice..Well get over it..Your not going to football camp..Your going to USMC boot camp..Dont ever try to compare the two..

Thousands before you have been scared and thousands graduate every year..Its all part of growing up..Just quit worrying so much and focus on what your about to do..

If your buddies need to be explained what the Marine Corps is all about feel free to pass to each of them my email..I have zero problems putting idiots in their place..Never ever think your ignorance is a reason to disrespect...A good rule for your clan would be as follows..If you wouldn't say it to a Marines face then keep your pie hole shut because one day one might shut it for you..Tell them to think before they speak because when they dont they end up sounding like jackasses..

You made the choice not them..Dont worry about what they think..Your destiny has the USMC in it,not theirs..Good luck to you..

What to expect at MEPS?

I live down the street from it, so I got there around 5:30, then the bus arrives with the kids from out of town. They give a little speech before you walk inside. Then inside you have to get all this paper work passed around & "Check In". They give you a medical brief which takes like an hour & its boring as hell, plus I drank like a gallon of water so a few of us had to hold in our pee through this long *** speech. When the brief is over you line up for a breathelizer. Then afterwards, we went in in groups of like 6 & pee'd right next to each other in front of someone. It actually didnt bother me because I had to pee bad. Then I went to get my blood drawn "aids test" or whatever. Then went to get my eyes looked at. After that a large group of us went to the medical examination room where we all get in our underwear & sit & wait. You get comfortable after like 5 mins so dont stress it. One by one you get looked at individually by the doctor (& dont worry, he doesnt stick his finger in you, atleast not for me). Then after about 10 of you have gotten examined they make you, at the same time, do these movements & excersizes & duck walk to see if your body moves right. Then you leave. I went to get my ears looked at afterwards. Then you go to the front desk & they tell you "You are qualified for .... whatever". Then I sat for like 2 hours doing nothing. You meet some cool people, so that helps pass the time.

If you dont swear in that day, which I didnt, & my friends havent, you go back like 2 weeks later & literally do NOTHING from 6-3, then you swear in, then you have to wait a few more hours doing nothing, then you can leave lol. MEPS sucks, but its worth it I guess. Dont get too worked up.

What can I expect in school of infantry for the marine corps?

Open Google and type Infantry T&R. It will likely auto populate after the word infantry. Open the Training and Readiness PDF document and scroll to chapter 8. On page 8-3 a list of the tasks to be trained begins; it is in table format. The pages that follow explain these tasks in order. Also, after typing "infantry t" you will see an auto populated search result for Infantry Training Battalion East (and west). Below is from the East page under the tab, "What to expect:""This nine week course is designed to train Marines in the knowledge and skills required to perform as riflemen, machine gunners, mortarmen, assaultmen, and TOW gunners in an infantry company. This course will also challenge the Marines mentally and physically throughout their time here. The Marines will receive instruction on employing their assigned weapon system both in a classroom environment and during the seven weeks of field training. Tactical instruction includes offense and defensive operations with numerous day and night live fire events. Additionally, this course reinforces the skills mastered during the course of instruction through scenario based training that simulates what the Marine will be required to perform in the Operating Forces. Throughout his time here, the student will also be challenged with High Intensity Tactical Training as well as numerous hikes culminating in a 20 kilometer movement carrying up to 98 pounds. Upon successful completion of this course, the Marine will received his assigned MOS and report to their respective units. "So get in there, sign up with infantry option, complete recruit training, and you are well on your way. You will be a Private First Class or Lance Corporal (if someone promotes you during entry-level training) in an operational infantry battalion soon enough. Don't worry too much; we need Privates too. This is all relatively easy to find with a smart phone and some time. If you are young enough to be asking about beginning at School of Infantry it bothers some of us older types that we need to explain how to find this stuff. You should be showing us how to use Google and use smart phones; we will show you how to professionally employ small units and weapons.

What are the differences between basic training for the US Army and US Marines?

They both are tough. Marines have to run 3 Miles in 27 Mins, 3 Pull Ups, and crunches, not sure how many. They have to engage targets up to 400 Meters, I think, but they are all stationary targets. Not sure of their combat training, but they are an amphibious fighting force, hence their name…so expect training over water. The Army have to run 2 Miles in 16 minutes, 15 Mins in AIT, 56 Push Ups, and 64 Situps. Expect to run 5–7 miles three times a week and go on long ass road marches with 60 pounds in your ruck sack, 40lb IBA vest, rifle, and all canteens full of water. You will go through unarmed combat training, battle drills, combat formations and various other scenarios. Expect a lot of classroom training detailing battle prep, weapons, land nav, etc. You will engage pop up targets from 25 Meters to 300 Meters. You have to score 26, or higher to qualify…Toss some grenades…etc. O yeah, the Night Infiltration course is awesome. 300 Meter low crawl in all gear, with 50 cal rounds being fired at you over head, with explosions going off (my fav part).Army and Marines BCT are both infantry related and are treated as such. After BCT the Marines go through Rifleman School, then go to AIT, where they will be trained by the Army. After BCT, soldiers go to AIT where they will train in their MOS, or job.Toughness: Marines/Army or vice versa because they are both combat infantry related. Followed by the Air Force and Navy because ground combat and rifle marksmanship are not their primary function.
