Can Someone Explain To Me How To Bump Reports In Excel

How do a convert an excel sheet to make it look like a report?

Can someone direct me to a website, book, or just explain it to me step by step how I can convert a document that is created in excel (it is a generated report) into a document that looks like a report without the columns and headers that typically are in excel. What I am trying to do is convert a document that is generated in excel that has name, phone number, address, a summary of the conversation, and other information, take that information and make it look like a very nice and professional report that someone can print off and make it look orderly. Am I making sense?

I need someone explain me how to work with excel spreadsheet ??

In cell A1 type 2 then Enter
In cell A2 type 4 then Enter

Now use the mouse to highlight the two cells A1 and A2.
Now find the Sigma sign (you do read Greek I hope!) and click.
Auto sum will be added to the bottom of the selected cells.

Now in cell B1 type 3 then Enter
In cell B2 type 5 then Enter

Now click on the auto sum that was created in cell A3.
In the bottom left corner of the square that surrounds the selected cell is a small black square. Hover the mouse over this square and the pointer becomes a small black Plus sign. When this happens click and drag across to cell B3.

There that's you started. Now get playing.

Can anyone explain to me what this formula means? (Excel)?

Jan... can explain it all to you... I never received your email so couldnt reply... let me know if you need help on this.

@Mremixer: you're not wrong, but incidentally (as I wrote the forumla) I know this is actually functionally incorrect... it should be £5000, rather than £4999... I have sent the OP an update to this formula but I think she has posted the first stab I gave rather than the corrected version I sent through slightly later... which should read:

=(IF(A2>10000, IF(A2>20000, 20000, A2-10000), 0)*$C$1)

In fact, it should really read:

=(IF(A3>$B$1, IF(A3>$C$1, $C$1, A3-$B$1), 0)*$C$2)

as I parameterised the formula using her column headers, which is nice! Gives loads of flexibility in the calculation and makes projections almost fun! You can tell I'm a laugh a minute, can't you!

But I fear Y!A "mail" has done something awful and sent our messages out in the wrong directions!

How do I bump data out from an excel sheet?

You can use a lookup function.

First select a column that you think will help identify the duplicates easily . Eg. ID number

Then go to sheet 1

Say you have columns from A thru C and then in D, type the following formula

=IF (VLOOKUP (A1,Sheet2!$A$1:$A$19,1,0), "Delete" )

Where
A1 is the first ID number (lookup value) in the sheet 1

Sheet2!$A$1:$A$19 = the range in the sheet 2 in which you look for the value in the cell A1 in sheet 1

Remember to select the corresponding column in sheet 2. (Eg Sheet 1 = Name Column then Sheet 2 = Name column)

Copy that formula down to all rows.

For those rows that have duplicates, you will get the answer " Delete"

For other rows, the formula will return #N/A error. That means those rows are not found in Sheet 2.

You can use the auto filter option to filter out only "delete" rows and you can delete them.

You can also sort them & delete (if you have to maintain the original order, we have to do another thing)

Add detail or send me an email if you need any more help.

Why would someone choose a CRM instead of Salesforce?

Because it deceives you without you knowing! How? Let me explainA recent Forrester survey revealed that 52% of the respondents picked “high cost of ownership over time” as the one thing they most dislike about Salesforce’s Sales Cloud, followed by “rigid and inflexible pricing model” at 42% of total. As a result, 43% of the respondents said they will “renegotiate our contract with Salesforce when it comes up for renewal,”Business Insider says here that many clients are complaing about the pricing model of Salesforce. How Salesforce deceives you?Salesforce pricing includes up-charges for system usage, which are often very hard to calculate and budget. Just as companies start to realize the business benefits of the CRM system, the costs start to grow exponentially. Some of these includeUp-charges include API calls, which equate to connections to other data sources.Storage-based fees can balloon when storing large files such as PDFs or presentation slide decks in the system. In addition, complete mobile access for some versions can cost as much as $50 additional per user, per month. Also, building custom mobile applications on the Salesforce CRM platform can cost an additional $300 per user per month. Therefore, one should beware of the hidden costs before implementing any solution. How do businesses use MS Excel in practice?

Actuaries, sales people or logistics specialists for example, create quoting tools. These often require several calculations to be run using a dynamic database.Finance or investment experts use third party addins to track real-time stock data and use this right there, in their portfolio spreadsheets.Imagine all sorts of data flowing to your table from all units. Managers or business people often create dashboards and track KPIs in Excel, because Excel can use data in various formats and it’s really easy to organize it.Many businesses challenges are solved on simple spreadsheets and many businesses solely rely on Excel to solve problems, analyze operations and keep data. Not to mention that pretty much every human being is somewhat familiar with Excel controls, it’s no surprise that Microsoft dominated businesses with this simple software.Excel is an extremely flexible, yet powerful calculator, database that features an easy-to-use interface. It’s been around for more than 30 YEARS and the sheer amount of add-ins, templates and tutorials is simply astonishing. There are other software that complement this software (Solver, Spreadsheetweb, Blue Ranker, Adobe Flash etc.) and there are businesses that specialize in creating spreadsheet templates (vertex42, FormsAtlas etc.)It’s extremely popular for a good reason. It offers all a business needs.

Why do liberals think that telling someone they have a nice smile is wrong?

There’s nothing wrong with telling someone they have a nice smile in certain circumstances. Here’s when its appropriate:To a friend or family memberTo a romantic partner or spouseTo someone you’re on a date withTo someone after taking their pictureTo your patient after you’ve given them a dental examIn some circumstances, it can be very inappropriate, such as in the following:To a stranger you walk by on the streetTo a waitress, cashier, or baristaAt work to a colleague of the opposite sex (generally speaking)When you’re the most powerful man in the room/the world, and you stop what’s going on to summon a woman to come before you so you can comment on her physical appearance in front of others.#4 above is of particular relevance to the question. The important thing here is context. There are times when it would be a really nice compliment, and there are other times when it’s not. Many women in the journalist’s position would have felt very uncomfortable. But because some women wouldn’t mind - or some men have decided they didn’t “mean” anything by it - that therefore no women are allowed to decide that a comment on their appearance at work should make them uncomfortable. So the real issue is people acting and speaking without considering out how it might make someone else feel. This is not some liberal crusade for political correctness - its about politeness and appropriateness.

How do you make a drop-down list in excel that links to graphs?

I have something that is not as good as I would like it to be but will work.

Determine the cell that you will be using for the dropdown list and a column or portion of a column where you will be listing the charts to go to.

In the list enter the Worksheet name (e.g. Sheet1) and the Chart name (e.g. Chart 1) separated by a comma with no space on either side of the comma. Note that the default chart names contain a space but the default worksheet names do not. Your list might look something like this:

Sheet1,Chart 1
Sheet1,Chart 2
Sheet2,Chart 1
Sheet3,Chart 1

Select the dropdown list cell and then select Data > Validation > Allow: List and enter the range of the list you just created. Verify that the names in the list appear in the dropdown list.

In the VBAProject sheet code for the sheet that contains the dropdown list insert the following code where indicated by the Sub name

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim sSheet, sChart As String
On Error GoTo SkipError
If Target = Range("A1") Then
sSheet = Split(Target, ",")(0)
sChart = Split(Target, ",")(1)
Sheets(sSheet).Select
Sheets(sSheet).Range("A1").Select
Sheets(sSheet).ChartObjects(sChart).Sele...
End If
SkipError:
End Sub

Now, when you select an entry in the dropdown list, the indicated worksheet and chart are selected. In most cases the full chart will be visible.

The On Error is meant to handle cases where the list contains invalid entries or the cell value is blank. You will want to comment it out during testing so that the system will show the source of any error.

If you don’t know how to insert the VBA code and are interested in trying it, let me know and I will explain further.

How can I prove to an interviewer that I am strong at Excel?

Best thing you can do is to actually know Excel! If you know the program then you wont have to worry about convincing anyone. This is true of all subjects - you only need to convince people if you're a fake ;-) Microsoft has an entry level certification for Excel (and all of the Office products). You should look over the test for MOS: Office Excel 2013/2010 to see if you're familiar with the terms and knowledge they list to pass the exam. You can find this information under "Skills Measured" here: Exam 77-420: Excel 2013 To put it bluntly: if you cannot pass this test you do not know excel. This test measures like 1% of what you can actually do with the program, so its a starting spot for a beginner but do not expect some sort of expert status. To study up I highly recommend the videos by Amir Parmar on youtube. His series on excel is an excellent overview of the capabilities of excel which makes this a good place to start out. Watch those videos here: Microsoft Excel 2013 Good luck!
