Religions that don't celebrate Christmas?

He could be a member of the Church of Christ, which forbids instrumental music in its worship services. I know, your band isn't part of a worship service, but in his mind, any combination of sacred music and musical instruments could be a no-no.

What are some good ideas for teacher's day celebration in school?

It actually depends on the scale of celebration. If it’s inside the classroom or in the big hall in front of the whole school.Classroom ideas :You could organize some snacks to greet the teachers when they come to your classroom. In our school, each class creates a gigantic card with places alloted for each teacher to sign and write a message. We ask each teacher to sign and tell them to pick chocolates and little goodies from a handcrafted box.If your classteacher gives you the permission to move the tables and chairs back, you can practise for a little program to be staged by the students. Like this year, we had done little pieces of songs and dances from all eras…ranging from 60s to modern day songs. Maybe if you get time and can organize yourselves…go for a play from your English literature book (if you want to see a smile on your English teacher’s face…just kidding!) or any other.Make sure to have a host for the program who knows which is after which. And, do see the timing of each and the total duration.Don’t forget to decorate the blackboard with a beautiful message and the class with balloons and streamers.Dress like your favourite teacher if you want her to know how much you all love her.Outside ideas :You can showcase the different dance forms of the world, by doing little group dances on each. This year, we had a fun idea. We enacted scenes from famous movies and the teachers had to guess the movies. You can also form a band of your own and showcase a fusion of various types of musical instruments that some students maybe experts at.Then we had another fun packed performance last year. The concept was that the subjects had come to life and were discussing among themselves how they are so pleased when they are taught by a good teacher. Well, you would need a good scriptwriter for that!

How do I celebrate Teachers’ Day in my school?

Write the teacher a note Thanking them and letting that teacher know how they impacted your life. Maybe you were going through a tough time at school or at home, maybe you had been doubting yourself academically, maybe the teacher just listened to you when you just needed to be heard. Out of all the things I have been given over the years those notes from my students both present and past mean more to mean than anything. Maybe you wrote a note to one of your teachers who was having things going on in their own lives, yes teachers are human who have families and lives away from school, without even knowing it my students notes have helped me get through some very tough times in life. Many people have no idea how their notes especially the first couple of years when you are just beginning teaching career can have such a positive impact on them, maybe even choosing to remain in the profession. When I left my long term career, plus having some things going on personally and questioning whether I was even good enough to teach them those notes sometimes with no name meant to me and encouraged me to continue when I was seriously thinking about qutting . I am so grateful to my students!!!! Don’t wait until they celebrate teacher appreciation day to write a note to one of your teachers thanking them, because you never know when that note may mean to them than you possibly realize.

How does one celebrate diversity?

Diversity should be celebrated most definately. Common ground to me means that we can find something to base our conversation, relationship etc etc on. For example if we talk about the weather you could say it is a miserable wet day and I could say it's good it's raining because the farm needs it. Now the commonality here is the weather but the diversity in our aspects of the weather is different which equals a diverse undserstanding of something that is a common topic that we are discussing. We all are not the same and if we were wouldn't it be a boring world. Celebrate diversity because that is apart of us.

Why don't British High Schools have graduation ceremonies like American ones?

Primarily as the 5 to 7 years of confinement in a British High School will have likely turned the intake into a barely literate mob of teenagers (PISA). The vast majority of whom are nowhere near ready to sit for a Bachelor of Arts, or Sciences, so the High schools just don't bother offering degree programmes. As no degrees have been taken or awarded the schools don't waste money celebrating that the fact, in an annual non-graduation ceremony, nor do the parents waste money on a fancy dress costume, to celebrate their child failing to obtain a degree by their 16th, 17th, 18th, or possibly 19th Birthday. They leave the fancy dress, and speeches to the Universities, so students have a few embarrassing photos, to accompany the many thousands of debt they'll have picked up gaining their Bachelor of Golf Course Management.

What do you think about holidays celebrated in public schools?

celebrate MORE
everyone should have a tolerance for everyone elses culture.. taking that away makes us bland and like machines that don't celebrate... i dont UK and US... having ethical problems with holidays like Christmas... you dont see the same thing happening in any other country lol... I think it's just a cop out to make us study more, work harder, and get less holidays inevitably... I lived in brazil 6 months and every week they have a holiday to some saint or another...

To be honest I'm surprised at the lack of holidays americans get... Britian gets it better but, without any celebrations, life just becomes dull and we become more unaware and probably less tolerable of eachother.
