Can Someone Use My Lost Az Auto Registration

What can a criminal do with my car registration card?

Your car registration card also has your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on it. With your VIN and a few other pieces of information, a crook can obtain a title for your vehicle.Having the title, the crook can then wait until another opportunity arises and they can steal, and then sell, your vehicle. They have the title. They have a vehicle registration card. They are (to most people) the owner of your vehicle.Or in some states (like where I'm from,Nevada) they can steal your vehicle and use the falsely acquired title to obtain a loan against your vehicle. There are businesses which will loan money against the title of your vehicle. It's not much; but it's essentially "free money" for the crook as they can take the check they are given and run.Or...they can acquire a title, steal model of vehicle the same year, make and model as yours. They would then replace the visible VIN stickers/placards in the car and either sell it or use it to obtain a loan. The paperwork trail for this will wind its way back to you (and not them) and you'll have a great deal of explaining to do.In the report of your vehicle burglary, make certain that you reported the theft of your vehicle registration. Also, call the DMV/BMV for your state and check to see if anyone has tried, or has, obtained a copy of your title recently. If they have (and it wasn't your or your spouse) you probably want to contact the police ASAP.

Can I register a car in CA with an out of state driver's license?

I’m going to try in a couple months, I’ll update if it works. Spoiler: odds are pretty good it will work.I disagree with Dan Wallander’s answer, he even links to California Car Registration Requirements & Steps | DMV.org, which is a great resource, but it doesn’t back up his claims. It says you have to provide ID when registering your car, but doesn’t say it has to be a CA issued ID. It doesn’t even say it has to be a drivers license so in theory you could just use your passport (idk this for sure, but I think I’ll try it). The site has a section on establishing residency and a separate section for registering a vehicle, but no where in the register vehicle section does it say you have to do the resident part first. If you still don’t believe me consider this scenario:What if I have a vacation house in CA? I’m a resident of another state and spend most the year there, but I want to have a car in CA so I can just fly in for vacation and have wheels to get around in? Obviously the CA car is not going to have plates from the other state because I’m well off enough that I just bought a nice car to go with my vacation house. And I can’t be bothered to drive it back to the other state just to register it and drive it back to CA, what a huge waste of time. This is not the scenario I’m in, but I imagine it’s not too unheard of since CA does have plenty of vacation worthy areas. And some very wealthy areas that contain the kind of people capable of this scenario.A police officer in CA can also pull you over if they repeatedly see you with out of state plates over the course of several weeks. CA wants the car you have in CA to be registered with them so they can collect the money for it using CA roads. Regardless of where your license is. Out-of-state license plates: California clamping down on drivers who avoid feesThere are also people from foreign countries that buy cars in the US to travel around in while they are here and then sell them when they leave. If you’re a member of AAA, use them, in CA they have the power to register vehicles. That’s not the case in every state, but it’s worth the membership even if just for the first year to save yourself the visit to a CA DMV, trust me.UPDATE: Today (11/22/16) I completed registration of a motorcycle in CA, but I kept my CO license. There was no issue. Please leave a comment or message me if you have any questions about what you need to do. The more details you can provide for your situation the more I can help.

What are the chances of getting caught with stolen registration sticker on license plate?

cops can use text recognition software and on board cams to see and record, and run licence plate numbers they find along normal patrols...

if someone happens to run his plate for whatever reason, it would come up expired in the computer, and he'd get pulled over simply becasue the information the cop has does not match the info he sees...

Under normal circumstances, it is a simple stop... excuse me sir, may i see your registration? here it is, and you are on your way without another word spoken...

in your buddy's case, they see him, run the tag, now it comes back expired, so now the cop has reasonable suspicion, and you get pulled, becasue now the cop is asking himself, OK the plate is out of date, what else is wrong here, that I am not seeing? and it becomes a game of how much can I find on this guy???

back in the old days when my sticker was out of date, we just bent that corner of the plate up, and took our chances...

LOgic being, if i get stopped and the plate is out of date, I can just say " oops... I forgot about it completely..."

on the other hand, if I 'borrowed' a sticker, and tried to use that, and got caught now I am looking at serious time for the stolen sticker, because you actually made an effort to conceal the fact the registration was bogus.

see 21655.9(b) No person shall drive a vehicle described in 5205.5 unless the proper decal, label, or other identifier is displayed
M 21655.9(c) No person shall operate or own a vehicle displaying a decal, label, or other identifier as described in 5205.5, if that decal, label, or other identifier is not assigned to that vehicle.

Is it illegal to use a false address for car registration?

Yeah of course its illegal to use a fake address for registration and mostly it is impossible to do so because now a days the registration id is being sent to the door steps by the government worker or by speed posts.
If any thing is caught out to be fake you would be prisoned and now from May 1 government is implementing new plan for this sought of thing. They are appointing a staff to conduct survey on our given documents and then only to take further step.

How would I register a Nissan Skyline in Arizona if I imported it from japan?

1) the cars will not leave the dock until you post a huge bond and letter of intent to make them conform to DOT standards for the model year (94 - 99)
2) if you're lucky, they will grant you about 60 days to comply with all the safety, emissions and crash standards.
3) THEN, the cars will have to be inspected, emissions certified before you can register them. Failure to comply will mean the immediate seizure of the automobiles and they will be held until your hearing is over then crushed -- at your expense. There are businesses that will handle this procedure for you -- for a price (goodbye college fund).

Dude, you will be much better off to just buy a couple that have already been certified. This branch of the government is the only one besides the military that actually works as it should so your paperwork being lost or postponed won't happen.

Bought out of state car and lost all paperwork?

My buddy bought a car a few months back that's registered under arizona. He lost the title and papers but never got to transfer the title to California. The arizona tags just expired. I bought the car off my buddy because he's too busy to go through the process. I've been trying to contact the original owner but haven't had any success. How can I transfer the title to california if I don't have any paperwork. All I have is plates.

I just bought a car, but on the way home I lost the title and affidavit. I haven’t even put my name on the title or anything. What should I do now?

I can’t imagine how you could have lost it on the way home, but if it’s truly missing return to the seller and ask that they order a duplicate title. (You should pay for this!) When received, the seller should again sign it and give it to you. On your way home, swing by the Dept of Motor Vehicles where you can sign it and obtain a new one in your name.In the meantime, if you are driving the car, you need insurance. Call an agent today. The agent can bind coverage effective immediately.

I lost my license, can i still drive?

Short answer. No. It's against the law to drive without a license.

If you have need to drive immediately ==> You can get a proof of replacement at the Arizona DMV by submitting a request online.

If you do get pulled over by a traffic officier and have your license # you will more than likely still get a summons to appear in court.

However, it's relatively unlikely that a judge will have you pay a fine if you can prove that you had already applied for a replacement license at the time of the summons.

Getting an ID in AZ, how long does it take?

Yes. If you have the proper documents to prove you are an AZ resident and your age, you can walk into the MVD, pay the fee and walk out with a picture ID.
