Can Stress Be The Cause Of Oily Hair

What causes hair to get oily?

I wash my hair daily. One day with shampoo and conditioner. Other day with conditioner only. On some days I don't wash my hair, because I don't want it to be so dry, but if I don't wash my hair it gets oily. What causes this to happen?

Can stress cause hair loss?

From personal experience I say an unequivocal yes. Stress can cause hair loss. My entire life I've had long, lush, thick, and healthy hair. It was what enhanced my beauty and I was definitely very vain about my hair. My life was going along great  - I had everything I wanted, a beautiful apartment in a big city, I was doing great in my work, and I had wonderful boyfriend (we were going to get married!). Then out of no where, my life began to spiral apart, my boyfriend left me, my work started to falter and I could no longer afford living the way I used to. I would work, come home, lie on the couch and watch T.V. till I fell asleep.  Wake up the next day and I'd do it all over again. I did this for weeks and weeks on end. I was sad, life seemed heavy and my body was working over time to keep me moving and going. As a result my hair started to fall out. I could no longer pull my hair in to ponytails because it would expose so much skin near the front of my scalp. One morning I woke up and it hit me, I was going bald. The hair loss was a sign that something just wasn't right with my body. I changed my diet and started doing Indian hair oiling methods I learned to do as a little girl. The hair loss stopped but the lost hair did not start growing back. I was still marred with a lot of anxiety.It wasn't until after I started to focus on shedding the anxiety that my hair started growing back. How did I shed the anxiety?(A) Going to bed early. Quitting T.V. Waking up early.(B) Talking to my loved ones every day, every chance I had. (C) Stopped eating any junk, removed all processed foods from my life. Removed all toxic people from my life. Any one that took advantage of me, didn't give me credit, or gave me a funny anxious feeling, I let them go. (D) Focusing on the now. Every time my mind wandered, I focused on my breath. I focused on my hands typing, the water hitting my face, how the pillow felt against my cheek....I started to live. (E) Forgetting the past. Acknowledging that the past had no power over my life (this moment).  This moment was all I ever had. This isn't easy, it sounds easy but it takes effort. I had to realize that I did not need the anxiety, the T.V., the junk food...I did not "need" anything. The current moment was the most precious gift in my life. The only thing I actually needed.

Why does stress cause me to have oily hair during exams?

Stress is a tricky adversary.We experience stress because it is good for us. I know that's hard to appreciate, but it has provided us with an evolutionary advantage, which has allowed us to survive and spread our genes. When stress is helpful, we call it eustress. That's basically the good kind of stress. It allows us to perform actions and behaviours that will support our wellbeing. For example, run away from the predator, or go harvest food to feed yourself.However, too much of anything can be harmful. In today's society, the stress that we experience is very different from the stress our ancestors felt. We are worried about exams, deadlines, our boss, slow internet access, you name it. None of these things are deadly or will cause actually harm to us, but our bodies react exactly the same way as if they would cause us harm. Stress physiologically causes the same reaction in our bodies as if it were life-threatening.The problem in today's world is that we experience chronic low-level stress. This wears us out. It wears down our bodies and it utilizes our resources.If you're noticing a unique stress response, first, make sure it's actually happening. Many times, we'll think something is tied to stress, but it could be tied to something else. In your case, it could be tied to the weather, your hormones, the types of products you use. So start by taking a log of all the instances you notice the change and the circumstances surrounding it.Now, assuming you have already done this and that the link is a real one, it could mean something in your body thinks the oily hair will produce some kind of advantage. Maybe it will act as a protective mechanism to fend off predators, or maybe it will allow you to find a mate more easily in hard times. It's anybody's guess. However, it could also indicate a maladaptive stress response. In other words, it could mean there are processes in your body that are not working the way they should. This is often linked to an underlying hormonal issue. Stress causes cortisol to be released and many people experience either too much or too little cortisol release, as well as prolonged release in times of ongoing stress.This can cause all your other hormones to go out of whack, which can cause a cascade of health effects. The best way to get to the bottom of it is to address your stress in a positive way.

Hair Care: How can I make my scalp less greasy?

Hi, I have long hair so I can give you some tips How to Make Your Hair Less Greasy.  Speaking of hair shampooing, yes over washing can actually cause the hair to become more oily. When you regularly use lower-end shampoos that contain harsh chemical ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulfate, diethanolamine (DEA) or triethonalamine (TEA), they can strip your scalp of its natural oils and trigger your sebaceous glands to start producing more oils to counteract the situation.My best advice to naturally control oily hair is, wash every 2-3 days, or whenever your hair feels particularly greasy and sticky. Also, avoid brushing your hair too frequently since hair brushing stimulates the production of scalp oils. You can read more remedies here: Top 5 Oily Hair Remedies That Actually Work  Quick Fix-  Pour some talcum powder or baby powder out onto a dish and dip your powder puff into it.-  Don’t pour the powder directly onto your hair because it is difficult to gauge the amount you need and if you are not careful, you will probably end up making a big mess afterwards.-  With a comb, part your hair in the center and puff the talc onto your scalp and roots. Make another part half an inch off-center and repeat this down one side of your head, then from the center and down the other till your whole head is done.-  Leave it for about 5 to 10 minutes while the talc soaks up the excess oils in your hair. After that, brush your hair the normal way. Want something more? Try “no-water” Keratin Complex Lock Launder Strengthening Dry Shampoo. It magically zaps away excess buildup and stringiness caused by week-old oily strands, leaving you with oh-so-gorgeous bouncy locks.  If your hair is oily at the roots but super dry at the ends, then nourish it with a banana-avocado hair mask at least once a week. Mix ½ avocado and 1 medium sized ripe banana with a fork to get a smooth paste. Add 1 egg yolk, honey and olive oil (1 tablespoon each). Mix all ingredients until well combined and apply onto hair ends. Leave to act for about 30 minutes or so, then wash out with a gentle shampoo.

How can i tell if my hair is oily, dry, or normal?

- Normal hair looks naturally healthy and shiny. It can stay nice and clean between washes. It contains a balanced amount of sebum (sebum is a natural oil that smoothes the scales on the hair shaft and makes the hair nice and soft).
- Dry hair is quite lifeless, dull and/or fragile. Its particularly common in curly hair as its uneven surface makes it difficult to distribute natural oils. It also occurs if you straighten your hair a lot (like mine lol) and the ends fray or go frizzy. It can also be caused by a lack of sebum.
- Oily hair feels quite heavy on the head and is unpleasently clammy to the touch. It can be caused by perspiration, too much sebum on the hair, stress, overproduction of hormones, touching your hair to frequently or simply by not washing as often as you should.

Dont forget you can also have combination hair! This could be when your hair is oily at the roots and dry at the ends, or visa versa, basicly any combination of the above.
A good idea would be to ask your hairdresser what type your hair is, they are specialy trained to pick out these things and would be more than happy to recommend the appropriate shampoo/conditioners for you :)
Hope that helps!
xx Bianca

Does eating oily food cause hair loss problem?

no! it does not causes hair loss! but of course - if you will eat only oily french fries then - yes!! you can lose all your hair and not only hair!

anyway as you know - hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few. but anyway you can always try and get real results.

year ago my husband suffered from hair loss too and he started trying everything you can imagine to stop his hair loss. the things that really worked for him was:

1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also used herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for him!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.provillus.com/?aid=749165

It restores hair follicles by blocking DHT!!!

good luck!

What causes pimples????????

>if you have a pimple or blackhead it's not because you're doing anything wrong. You get teenage pimples and blackheads because one of your grandparents or parents had a similar problem: you inherited it.

>For a blemish to form, you need a blockage in one of those tiny holes everywhere in your skin called a pore. Everyone has sebaceous (pronounced seb-aysh-us) glands everywhere in their skin, which pump out small amounts of oily stuff called sebum. Sebum protects us. its why when we get in the bath or go swimming we don't fill with water and puff like a sponge.

>During the teen years you have more of the hormone androgen, which over-excites your sebaceous glands, which then pump out too much sebum, which then blocks the pores and black heads.

pimples can get worse during stressful times because hormones caused by stress make inflammation worse.

there are a few things you can do to try and stop pimples forming or to hurry them along if they do arrive.

☞wash your skin every night to remove excess surface oil and dead skin cells.
☞make sure any gloo that goes on your face, whether it's make up or pimple lotion, doesn't clog your pores.
☞wash sweat off after exercise or when it's hot.
keep your hair clean and try to keep it off your face and neck especially if you use product.
☞eat healthy food
☞avoid cigarette smoke
☞try not to touch your face or rest your cheek in your hand.
