Is coconut crab edible? Has anyone tasted coconut crab?

Yes, coconut crab (called uga in Niue) is very edible and is even considered a delicacy. So many Niueans have tasted coconut crab that it is now, I believe, a protected species so that the crabs won't disappear from all the tasting.Supposedly, if you ask the right bush guide, you can have a taste of one yourself, despite its protected status. I can neither confirm nor deny this.

Can you think of a snack food more disgusting than Moon Pies?

I actually kind of like moon pies.

(and those pink ball things are awesome.)

I can't actually think of something gross.

Are mooncakes really delicious or does everyone just pretend they are for the festival?

Chinese Autumn Festival mooncakes are the cultural equivalent of American Christmas fruitcakes. Everyone buys them, everyone gives and receives them as gifts, but their taste varies.

Haagen Dazs started selling ice cream mooncakes in the upscale malls of China this year. Judging by the length of the lines into their stores, this new twist on the mooncake is a big hit.

As one of the previous answers suggested, mooncakes are a cultural tradition. Mooncakes connect the past to the present. Like a Thanksgiving turkey or Easter ham in America, the mooncake is a permanent fixture at this time of year.

How long exactly can a Chinese mooncake last before going bad?

As a professional eater, I feel a great responsibility to answer this question. To give you the right and accurate answer as possible as I can, I did some search on Baidu (the biggest search engine in China), and here is what I found:In the above picture is a can't be more normal mooncake, the words in the red circle is '60 days shelf life under the temperature 5-25℃'. 60 days sounds like a short time, right? And then I also found this:Let me summarize it : According to the research, the shortest shelf life of mooncake could be 20 days while the longest one could be 10 months! The reason why the time can spread so widely is:different ingredients   2. different making processThese two factors can lead to the different proportion of water and sugar in each mooncake, which is the main factor to decide its shelf life. The higher ratio of sugar to water, the longer the mooncake can last. So, here we can say there doesn't exist a exact time for all the mooncake that how long they can last, because each of them is quiet different.Eat them before the expiration date, and just enjoy the eating, there is no need to think too much. I eat mooncake every year and at most of the time I never look the expiration date printed on the outside. But see, I'm still here, believe me, the really bad dangerous outdated food you can always identify them before you actually eat...

You must survive on a desert island for 3 months, you only have an unlimited supply of processed junk food and water, what do you eat?

3 months? Essentially one is marooned on a desert island with, inexplicably, an Acme crate full of all the junk foods one could possibly desire. Plus fresh water. Hmm. I've been a scratch cook so long ... I haven't a clue what junk foods are out there nor what brand names are attached. (Brand names, seriously?) Nope, that's not a brag, just my reality. So, since the answer request was posed with a delightfully bizarre question, here's what I'm thinking:Frankly, my dear, I wouldn't give a damn as to what food was present. Food is food and if there's enough caloric content to keep me ticking, it's all good. Since it's been posed that 3 months is the time span of isolation and I already know this, I'd pretty much stop worrying as to the content of what was available and eat enough to stay alive till the rescue arrives. One can recover from a 3 month binge of naughty food. Off the top of my head, I do recall those prepackaged cheesy crackers with cheese spread from my college years ... salty as the dickens but doable. If I must make a choice I'd start with those. I know, very plebeian and not too interesting. Hey, you poked me for an answer! However, there better be a substantial amount of chocolate (hmm, Pepperidge Farm cookies) in that crate to pacify 90 days of no internet, no bills, no meals to fix, no laundry, no phone call interruptions, no . . . wait, WHERE is this island? When can I leave?

Anyone ever heard of marshmallow pies that used to be sold at winn-dixie?im looking for the name of them.?

The cookies kind of resemble the little debbie snacks or even the moon pies but i believe they winn dixie brand. they have different flavors: banana, vanilla, chocolate-all with regular marshmallow flavor and chocolate with strawberry marshmallow center. we used to get them back in 1999 but i recently went to look for them and cant find them anywhere..help!
