Can You Encourage Me Not To Eat Before Bed

What will happen If I don't eat for 8 hours?

So today I didn't eat for 8 hours, I didn't do it on purpose. But in the morning at 6, I had an egg and 3 fig newtons (240 cals). I forgot to bring my lunch and I only got out of school at 3. I had a chicken breast (200), a large iced tea (100) and a fruit bar (50).

But I'm not hungry. I know people say you gain all the weight you lost once you eat again. But if I eat 0 cals I will gain less weight than if I eat 200 cals, correct? So I didn't lose any weight, but I didn't gain any either.

Also, will my stomach shrink if I eat a little? Will I be satisfied easily? And what will happen if tomorrow I also don't eat for 8 hours? Will it burn muscle, fat?

What do you eat and drink before bed, and how is your sleep life?

If you want a good night’s sleep try to eat only this 5 things. The five foods you should eat before bed:1. BananasAlthough generally considered an energy-boosting food, bananas are rich in magnesium which relaxes muscles and they also contain serotonin and melatonin, which encourage sleep.2. AlmondsKnown as a great source of healthy fats, almonds are also bursting with tryptophan and magnesium, “which both help to naturally reduce muscle and nerve function while also steadying your heart rhythm,” according to Margo.3. HoneyJust one teaspoon of honey is enough to stimulate the release of melatonin in the brain and shut off orexin (which keeps us alert), thus helping you to wind down.4. OatsAs well as being yet another food rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids which promote sleep-inducing melatonin, oats encourages insulin production and naturally raise blood sugar.5. TurkeyOne of the most famous sources of tryptophan, turkey is also a great source of protein and will make you feel full.

Why is it bad to eat before going to sleep? Is it even bad at all?

I’m going to give just a bit of my own experience. It doesn’t make any sense going to bed famished. Eating a little bit of fats and/or protein before going to bed will help me fall asleep. But eating more than 100 calories worth of carbs, for me, results in hyper-activating my brain in an hour or two. I might fall right asleep, but in a couple hours I’ll wake up sweating, realizing I was just trying to sort out one of the biggest mental challenges of my recent life activities (work, relationships, etc) right there in my intended sleep. When I eat a heavy meal less than an hour before bedtime, it comes back up my esophagus and I end up coughing for the next two hours. Soda or other carbonated beverages are worse and will cause a lot of belching. When in a lateral sleeping position, this means whatever’s in the stomach, acid included, will come “up” along with the air, while I’m sleeping, ending up in my lungs. Coughing all night is NOT fun.So, generally, if I’m hungry at the time I go to bed or if I want a little assistance falling asleep, I’ll eat a little bit of fat or protein, like a cheese stick or a bit of jerky, along with a small cup of lukewarm water, wine or milk. Maybe 10–15 grams worth of cheese or meat. It’s bulk for the belly, doesn’t incite a lot of stomach acid, and once it reaches the small intestine my energy levels drop, which helps me sleep. But if I just ate a full meal or just drank a lot of belchy soda, I will force myself to stay awake for at least a couple hours before going to bed, because if I sleep for a couple hours and then wake up completely, it will be another four or five hours before I’ll be able to fall back asleep. The energy in the food now coupled with my 1–2 hour nap makes me incapable of settling down.

Can I drink milk before bed?

Definetely yes its good but make sure there should be a gap of 45–60 minutes between sleeping and having milk. Now why and how ? Read below. Before we dive into the storm of anger that will surely take up the comments section, let us remember one irrefutable scientific fact - if humans weren't meant to eat dairy, god never would have invented pizza.Let us also remember this is NOT a moral or ethical debate of whether or not it's "right" to eat animal products as most of the vegans our there must found this question and my post irrelevant but with this question I would like a to share this.Having said all of that, if you Google whether or not dairy is healthy, you're going to be bombarded with differing views -- all of whom claim THEIR research is correct. Now, I'm going to give you my point of view having read all the research and compared the studies to where I have my own conclusion. And I hope you find it helpful. But I also encourage you to look into this on your own and see what makes sense to you.The best performed and most recent research clearly shows dairy helpsblunt hungerimprove weight loss and even helps keep the weight off long term.It also makes protein shakes taste roughly a gazillon times better than water. On the other hand, higher fat dairy does have *a lot* of calories which can add up quickly if you don't pay attention. And if you're lactose intolerant the department of homeland security will label your farts a chemical threat to public health. As for vegans, I really do like them. But sometimes they get a little pushy if you don't follow their "rules," so hopefully if you're vegan you understand this post clearly goes against your way of life but that doesn't make it bad...just different. And that's ok.Case in point > if you can/want to eat dairy...eat it. It has a fistful of benefits. And if you can't/don't want to...don't. Will not eating after 5pm slow down my metabolism?

Well if you are going to bed at 8 that is fine. Otherwise you should eat about 3-4 hours before bed. Or, if you eat dinner at 5, then just have a small, healthy, low carb, low fat snack a couple hours later. You want to keep your metabolism going or you will go into starvation mode which is when your body slows it down to conserve energy.
Plus, if you go to bed hungry you will not sleep well. When you do not get proper sleep, is makes it more difficult to lose weight.

In order to lose weight, you need to eat small healthy meals every few hours, get 7-8 hours of good sleep, exercise regularly and drink a lot of water.

Does eating eggs before bed help muscles recover and gain muscles as I sleep?

Having any protein before bed could help you revover muscle tissue as you sleep. But eggs aren't the best way to go.The optimal way (or the best way according to a study on Bodybuilding .com I read about) is to have slow digesting proteins and 20-30 grams of high glycemic carbs 30-40 minutes before bed. The carbs help knock you out so you sleep great, and the slow digesting protein builds your muscles for 8 hours as you sleep. Together, they make an amazing combo. Ever since I started doing this, I sleep better and even feel more full and well reated throughout the day.For slow digesting protein, you need casein protein or cottage cheese. For carbs, you can have whatever you want. Bread, toast, oats, fruit, candy, even ice cream if you have a low fat version or are willing to go higher with carbs and fats (this is okay if you haven't hit all your macroa throighout the day. Studies show quantitity of macros consumed is far more important than type of macro or timing of digestion for weight loss). So if anyone bugs you for having casein and ice cream for desert, tell them "its all about my gains"!
