Can You Have A Chest Tube And A Breathing Tube In At The Same Time

How do I know if my trouble breathing is asthma or just allergies?

When you have an asthma attack, you cannot easily draw air into your lungs. When you are having an attack (and even before) you can actually hear the air wheezing as you inhale and exhale. Asthma is caused by swelling and restriction of the bronchial tubes. It can feel like an elephant is on your chest pressing down, keeping any air from coming in. It can be very frightening, and it is serious. Treatment is usually steroids, but some new medications do not have steroids. There are several different tests that can be performed to see if you have asthma. All are performed in the office of a pulmonologist or allergist. In addition, you can use a peak flow meter in the morning and evening and then again just before or after 2:00 and compare the results.
You should most certainly get yourself to a doctor as soon as possible

Breathing difficulties while singing.....please help?

so.....I know all the stuff about breathing, breathing from your diaphragm and not the chest (shoulders don't rise while inhaling, chest doesn't expand, etc.....
I know for sure I'm not breathing from my chest, cause I never feel the chest expand, but only stomach.
But when I inhale and my stomach and ribcage expand, after a few seconds I feel like something's blocking me, I feel like I can't take a deep breath!
I even feel my chest kinda "tight"......and I feel like I'm holding my breath in my chest....dont know how to desribe this exactly, I hope you get what I mean and can help me.....
I keep feeling this "holding my breath in my chest" feeling....as if I were underwater....that kind of sensation in my chest.
Again, my chest doesnt expand, so it's not chest breathing (when I do that while talking normally, I don't feel any bad sensation).
This sensation happens mostly while I'm standing up! I find it easier to breathe from my diaphragm while laying on the bed or sitting on a chair......
Also, another question.....I've heard I should first feel my stomach expand, and then imagine that the air rises and fills my lungs (and I feel my upper ribs expand, too, slowly, first stomach, then expansion goes up - full torso expansion) but again, my chest doesn't expand really, it barely moves, and my shoulders don't rise as when we take a deep breath from the chest......so, should I practice this.....is this the corrct way? I shouldn't feel my stomach only, expanding, not only that, but I should feel a full torso expansion, right? Do you think that is the reason why I may feel that pain in my chest, that blocking feeling? Because I shouldn't expand my belly only, right????

Please be as clear as possible......thank you. I'm desperate!

Why do I feel like I can't breathe?

Whether it's anxiety or not, the saddest thing about it is that it is constant. I feel it every day. There are times where I'm busy doing others things and it doesn't bother me, but then there are times where it does. It is most prevalent when I am lying down and haven't had a busy day. When I'm trying to sleep it it gets so bad that I can't fall asleep. It's like I always have to yawn because I want that nice sensation of air but I can't get the yawn to follow through because the tightness in the chest starts acting up. It's almost painful, but not quite. It's tough describing it to people. It's just like you need to take a deep breath but can't get that breath to go through... worst feeling. I've had people tell me it's anxiety as well. Maybe it is, I don't know. But it's such a weird answer because this happens even when I'm most relaxed and not anxious at all. It sucks. It actually makes me want to not eat things because it reminds me of having a bunch of food, especially greasy fat food that goes and just blocks your airways. And that maybe that's the reason. When you do finally get the breath to go through after multiple attempts, it is the greatest feeling ever, but then you're right, it just returns a minute later. Hate it. The only times I don't really notice it is when I'm drinking or when I first wake up in the morning. I wish there was a better solution than "it's anxiety"... can't there just be something to make it go away? It makes me just want to rip my lungs out and transplant new ones.

Can I run with a chest congestion?

I just started running about 3 weeks ago and I have been building up my stamina and endurance. I never thought I would be able to run and now I absolutely love it. I run 3 times a week following a great program that is building me up slowly. When I ran on Friday, I was having trouble breathing but I didn't know why. By Saturday night, I had congestion in my chest. I don't want to lose the progress I have made. What can I do to keep up with my program as much as possible so that I don't lose the endurance I have built up to this point? Should I still run but go slower and not as far? Or should I just walk the same distance?
