The Green Jardinière

Period: 19th century
Date: 1882

I think you made a lovely choice, however, it wasn't considered one of his finer works, so there isn't anything on it.
Which isn't unusual, he did more than 300 paintings.

The Toledo Art Museum has several Renoirs that are much more famous....BATHER is a famous one. You might wanna switch.

James Rosenquist's stuff is so new that it's hard to find anything written about different paintings, especially Secret Incarnation. I did read that Rosenquist once said “If one exposes oneself, it’s no longer erotic. Eroticism is a secret. The woman’s body and the expression on her face incarnate a state of ecstasy that is very much like the kind of abandonment you feel while making love. "

So maybe that was where he was going with this painting.

I can't seem to even locate a picture of it on line.

Sorry kiddo, I looked for ya.

Hi! Your artist may well be Mireille Kramer:
(Cairo, Egypt, 1932 - Resides, Ein Hod, Israel)
A contemporary Israeli painter and printmaker,
Mireille Kramer immigrated from Egypt to Israel
in 1951. She first enrolled at the Hebrew University
and then studied etching techniques at the University
of Milan, in Italy. Kramer later went to Paris and
continued her art education at the Ecole de Louvre
and at the Academie Julian. Finally, the artist completed
her education at the Pratt Institute in New York.

As early as 1957 the art of Mireille Kramer received
national recognition when she was awarded the
Millerman Prize at the Young Artists of Israel Exhibition.
Since that time her original prints and paintings have
been included in exhibitions at such major galleries as
the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Musee
National d’Art Moderne, Paris, and at the Tel Aviv
Gallery. Mireille Kramer resides at the Israeli artist
colony, Ein Hod.

How do I find the artist of the antique paintings?

As some others have said, this is not going to be a valuable painting. But to answer the question, it is almost impossible to identify the artist. There are thousands, if not millions of paintings around by students, amateurs and mass produced areas such as Asia. Usually they have some sort of signature, which really doesn't help.Even if you are able to accurately decifer the signature and are certain the spelling is absolutely correct, you generally won't find anything about them. This is because there won't be any record or reference to them. For an artist to be listed anywhere they need to have exhibited, sold at auction or at the very least been a high achieving student and a prominent art school. This just doesn't happen for the bulk of amateur artists, and definitely not for those working in the mass produced factories.I think your painting falls into one of the categories that can't be identified. There is always one exception to this, but it takes a lot of luck! Somehow in asking the question the artist themselves, or someone that saw them work, happens to see this. It's highly unlikely, but unfortunately could be your only chance! If you like the painting hang it up and enjoy it! That's the whole point of art. It’s not painted technically well but who cares if you like it. There's plenty of art that's ‘technically’ perfect that you would never want to have in your home.. And if you don't like it, don't stress that you may be missing out on value by getting rid of it. Being realistic, and without knowing the size, in an antique shop it would be under $100.
