Can You Tell Me The Breed Of This Dog

What can you tell me about the Husky dog breed?

The Siberian Husky is one of the most stunningly beautiful breeds of dogs with their striking markings and colors, and their eyes which are often the most incredible shades of blue. They are also one of the most vocal breeds with a wide range of vocal abilities which can even sound like (human) words. They are independent, intelligent and playful.Typically, they are good family dogs, however, they aren't the best breed for everyone since they have specific traits, needs and quirks that are deeply ingrained in their genetic makeup.Because of their beauty and fun character, it seems like their popularity has greatly increased over the last few years.A few of the biggest challenges with these dogs are:1- They are bred to pull sleds, for hours and for miles so they have tons of endurance and boundless energy. They are bred to pull as in pull you down the street, so heeling by your side is not the easiest thing for them to learn. It might be easier and more fun to get a good halter and a pair of roller skates and train him in that instead.2- These dogs need a lot of exercise every day, so be committed to that or the dog will get bored and take out his boredom in ways that won't make you happy.3- They are notorious escape artists so you have to ensure the dog is not able to escape.4- They are typically not safe around small animals including cats, so be aware of this at all times.5- As with most of the northern breeds, they can be stubborn and/or independent making training a bit more challenging than with other breeds. Typically, they're not good for off-leash work.I could go on and on, but my best advice would be to contact breed clubs in your area, contact reputable breeders and ask a lot of questions, especially questions that are pertaining to your lifestyle and experience with dogs.

Can a dog and fox breed? What would the mix be called?

I have foxes and ppl often make statement regarding “dog/fox hybrids” the most common phrase is “OMG ITS A DOX!!!...” my facial expression usually consists of an eye roll, a sigh, and a long detailed conversation.Contrary to popular belief and lies spread on the internet by a crazy cryptozoologist (who was caught faking some of his so called hybrid animals) who runs the macroevolution website. Once you browse that website you start seeing the insanity seeping out. He has ridiculous hybrids on there like cow/dog, human/dog, horse/dog, and more.Dogs and foxes, while both are canids, CANNOT interbreed. They don’t even have the same amount of chromosomes.Cats and foxes can’t interbreed because they’re not even in the same class.Members of the dog genus Canis: wolves, dogs (both common dogs and dingoes), coyotes, and golden jackals cannot interbreed with members of the wider dog family: the Canidae, such as South American canids, foxes, African wild dogs, bat-eared foxes or raccoon dog; or, if they could, their offspring would be infertile.Members of the genus Canis species can, however, all interbreed to produce fertile offspring, with two exceptions: the side-striped jackal and black-backed jackal. Although these two theoretically could interbreed with each other to produce fertile offspring, they cannot hybridize successfully with the rest of the genus Canis. The reason for this lies in their genetics. The wolf, dingo, New Guinea Singing Dog, domestic dog, coyote, and golden jackal diverged relatively recently, around three to four million years ago, and all have 78 chromosomes arranged in 39 pairs. This allows them to hybridize freely (barring size or behavioral constraints) and produce fertile offspring. The side-striped jackal and black-backed jackal both have 74 chromosomes. Other members of the Canidae family, which diverged seven to ten million years ago, are less closely related to and cannot hybridize with the wolf-like canids; the red fox has 38 chromosomes, the raccoon dog has 42 chromosomes, the fennec fox has 64 chromosomes, and the African wild dog has 78 chromosomes.I at least have 3-4 people try and tell me their dog is part Fox every week. It’s not hard to read an actual medical journal and understand it. Cats are Felis Catus, dogs are Canis Lupus Familiaris and wolves are Canis Lupus. None can crossbreed with the fox; which are Vulpes Vulpes.

Can anyone pls tell me what is the dog breed in the Winter Old Navy tv commercial (the white dog)?

I am pretty sure he is a mixed breed, as they used a mixed breed for years in their commercials before. I wonder what happened to their old mascot? That first one looked to me like it was 1/2 Labrador & 1/2 Airedale Terrier. I will guess this one is part Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier: http://www.akc.org/breeds/soft_coated_wh... & part Lhasa Apso: http://www.akc.org/breeds/lhasa_apso/ind... offhhand, but I will have to take a closer look at this new one next time I see the commercial & give a better guess - but it is all speculation.

It's amazing what a groomer can do to make a long-haired dog look better - for instance, I knew a groomer that adopted a Terrier mix from the shelter & then 'invented' a new haircut for it. The dog was beautiful & she always got compliments & questions about it's breed! So nice, and she had saved a life, too. Happy Thanksgiving!

Can You Tell If A Dog Is Purebred By The Color Of The Roof Of His Mouth?

NO you cannot. You can only tell if a dog is pure bred by the paperwork you receive when you buy him from the previous owners or by getting blood work sent to somewhere like AKC and have them do a DNA testing on it to find out what the dogs breed is. There is no way to physically tell if a dog is truly pure bred or not. It has to come from DNA testing if you do not have papers. Even with a dog being papered it could be false. AKC requires a dog to be of certain organizations before accepting a dog. Some organizations will allow someone to actually take a photo of the dog and state its a particular breed and they will paper it based solely from that. The CKC will actually let you have 2 witnesses sign a paper stating it is a pure bred and 3 photos. That's it. STill does not mean its a pure bred.

I know you were looking for a simple answer but really there is only one DNA. That is expensive too. Good luck.
