What happens if you're not on-board your cruise ship at a mid-cruise stopover, and the ship is ready to depart?

Well, you get left behind! Nothing is worse than being late leaving a port because some passengers decided not to return on time. Depending on the captain and the ship’s schedule, you may get left or the ship might wait an hour or two to see if you make it back.I’ve been on a number of cruises were people have been late and the ship has left! If the ship is nice enough to wait, you better expect some catcalls as you run down the dock and gangway to get back on board.Whenever you get off the ship at port, the back on board time along with an emergency contact is posted everywhere—it’s impossible to miss! Always write and keep this information. Make sure you stay on ship time, and don’t switch to local time (unless it’s ship time). If you are left behind by the cruise ship, you can usually meet it at the next port. In some cases a smaller boat will be able to take you onto the water to meet the cruise ship. You’ll have to be able to climb up a ladder to get back on board though! If the ship does wait for you, you will usually be given a warning not to be late again. If you are repeatedly late getting back on the ship, the Captain has the ability to ban you from leaving the ship at the next port.I almost missed the ship one time in Mexico. I was at Puerto Vallarta and the ship wasn’t scheduled to leave until late in the day, like 7 or 8 PM. On our way back to the ship, there was a massive accident on the roadway which halted traffic. Realizing our group was going to be late getting back to the ship, we quickly called the emergency number which connected us with the ship. We told them about the situation, and the ship responded that they were aware about the traffic, and not to worry as the ship would wait. Luckily, the ship did wait and we were able to get back on board and continue our trip.Always have the emergency contact and the back on board time!

How do cruise ships make sure they don't leave any passengers behind after stopping at a port?

They know who’s on-board who isn’t at all times. Crew and guests all have to scan or swipe their cards (crew use their employee ID and passengers their cruise card used for transactions, access to your room and for ID) upon leaving or returning to the ship. The ships have security checkpoints not unlike those found at airports and they have your picture on their system that shows on a screen each time your card is scanned or swiped to confirm your identity. So when the back-on-board time arrives, they just check their system to see if anyone is missing. On the cruises I have been on, if there are people missing, the cruise director will call their names over the ship PA system and ask them to contact guest services or security immediately in case anyone got on board and somehow did not register their entry to the ship. This is how they tell if anyone is missing. It’s the passenger’s responsibility to be back to the ship time or to notify the ship if they have been delayed for any reason (such as stuck in traffic or some other situation). Then it is up to the captain to decide if it is okay to wait for you or if you are out of luck and will have to meet the ship at the next port at your own expense.

How much weight did you gain on your last cruise?

Our last cruise was for 27 days, my husband lost 7 pounds and I lost 6. I know it was because of all the walking we did, even aboard the the ship we walked laps on the upper track early each morning. If we hadn’t we would have certainly gained those same amounts respectively. also, we don’t drink much, my husband not at all because of his medications and I limit myself to a glass of red wine. I used to love the martini bars and throughout the many years of cruising I was on my way to sampling all 100 of the different flavors but with age I can’t do that anymore…boo :-)

How to find the last name of a girl I met on a cruise.?

The only thing I can possibly think of is to dig up the thread for that cruise at cruisecritic.com. Click on boards, joining if free, and then go to Roll Calls and look for your ship and sail date. Look through all the posts for any screen name or person's name that looks familiar, also some people put up their email addresses, usually toward the end of the thread, when they are getting more personal and excited about the cruise. Some people even post phone numbers. The only people that can get this sort of information from the cruise line would be law enforcement.

Why don't people believe that during the Tomahawk strike in Syria, all 76 missiles have hit Site 3?

Because making claims that paint the USA in a dim light is good for selling newspapers. Its all about eyeballs and feeding the sheep what they want to read.As an added bonus there will be a section of humanity that actually believes that Russian technology is up to the task of combating US technology. So you get to collect views and you get to plant some misinformation in the ether and people with an anti american agenda will not only believe because it’s exactly what they wanted to hear but they’ll repeat it endlessly even if it makes no sense. It’s easy to make claims and it’s pretty easy to use semi convincing images to “support” those claims but notice that the Russians only make claims about destroying things that are destroyed in the use. They certainly aren’t claiming any downed American aircraft or sunken ships even though they claimed that would be the result of a US strike.I could just as easily write that I shot down a Russian missile with a sling shot and it would be about as convincing and about as truthful. The reality is it appears as if every single missile hit it’s intended target and Russia was afraid to turn on air defenses because turning on air defenses makes them a target. The Syrians wasted a few missiles after the US strikes had already landed and you can tell that NONE of them hit because a surface to air missile tracking a cruise missile looks like a really sharp u-turn and then some jagged corrections. Video from the night of the attack shows Syria firing surface to air missiles that never even make a course correction and certainly don’t track a zig zagging target 20m off the ground. This is not the image of a successful surface to air missile tracking a cruise missile. Those are clearly misses, any expert on surface to air weapons and shooting down low level cruise missiles can tell you that at a glance. Unless of course you have an agenda and don’t know much about missiles then that’s evidence of a stalwart defense … keep on believing, don’t let facts get in the way of a good story.
