Car Battery Often Acts As If It

How often should I have to replace my car's battery?

I have a 2004 Honda Accord. I bought the car used in January 2008. In April 2009 I had to put a battery in the car after it died. It was fine after that until November 2010 when the battery died again. Now it hasn't even been a year yet and I can tell the battery's dieing(dim lights--hesitant cranking and so on just like before). I don't leave the lights on or plug in anything to charge it in my car. It is my only vehicle so it's driven daily but it's not even a long drive. My previous car was a 1995 Accord and I never had these issues. I only had to replace the battery every 4 - 5 years. Is there something going on with my car that I and the mechanics (they put the car on that machine thing that tells them about issues and nothing came up. I even had my boyfriends uncle who is a mechanic look at it and he found nothing that should be draining my battery) are missing or is this normal?

How often do I replace my car battery?

Recommended replacement is every 3-4 years.
After that the ability of the battery to hold a charge reliably is in question. It could leave you in a very bad situation, since there is little warning when it finally goes out.

How often should I change my car battery?

i own a repair shop, and i recommend every 5 years at the most, some of today's cars and trucks the battery's will last a lot longer in them, but anything over 5 years old,and it could die on you at anytime,i replaced mine at 5 years even though it was still good,i didn't want to be out somewhere and it break down, but change it if its over 5 years old, you,ll be glad you did, good luck,i hope this help,s.

How often are you supposed to replace your car battery and how much do they cost?

Car batteries last about 3 - 4 years. If yours is in that range, change it now before it leaves you stranded one cold morning. A good battery is about $80. A lesser quality one would be a little cheaper. Get a good one if you can afford it.

How often should I charge my car battery if I only drive one a week?

Yes I know the alternator recharges the car battery, however I only make short trips to the grocery store and since I live on the internet for my business, The only time I drive anywhere is to the local Kroger and Walmart for groceries which is usually once or twice per week. I bought a new car charger from Walmart that allows me to use a wall outlet to charge my battery when parked in my garage. I am wondering how often I should charge my battery? It has a maintenace mode but I do not want to leave it plugged in all of the time since it makes a buzzing sound and uses about 70 watts and I like to save electricity. Thanks.

How often should I replace my car battery in a cold climate if I don't have a block heater?

If you have access to a power outlet, you can also install a battery blanket heater which will keep the battery warm....most of the energy loss...Cold Cranking Amps or CCA... is due to the battery getting too cold. Or install a small low amperage battery charger... or battery tender/minder as they are sometimes called.... which keeps the battery charged up and also warms the battery in the process. Another option is to buy the largest output battery that will physically fit in the battery tray....batteries can lose 50% or more of their CCA at lower temps so the higher the CCA of the battery, the more starting power it will have at low temps when engine oil gets thicker and makes starting harder. Look for something around 1000 CCA which is what I run in my cars for cold Wisconsin winters....I never have starting problems even if temps dip below zero for a time.
