Car Insurance Questions.

I need help with a car insurance question?

My classic car, a restored 1957 Chevrolet, was parked on the street in the front of my house. A UPS truck was delivering a package to someone on the street. The UPS driver got out of his truck and took a package to a house on the street. It looks like he forget to set the brake and as he went to deliver the package the truck rolled down a hill and into my Chevrolet. There was extensive damage to my car.

Since the car is so old and parts to repair are VERY HARD TO GET AND VERY EXPENSIVE, UPS wants to declare it a total loss and pay me what a used 1957 Chevrolet is worth. There first offer was a few thousand dollars.

I think UPS should pay what ever it takes to restore it to the way it was before the crash. Anyone have any advice on what I should do in this situation. Should I report it to my insurance company? If I do will they raise my insurance premium

Car insurance coverage question?

A. Comprehensive means, stuff that happens to your car, that is NOT you driving into something, or something driving into you, and is also NOT flipping the car. Examples are fire, theft, vandalism, broken glass, and in some states, collision with an animal. If you have a loan on your car, the bank will require you to carry it. I carry it, because it's very easy to get a cracked windshield, which can cost a lot to replace.

B. Collision is when you run into something with your car, or another car (or shopping cart, or bike) runs into your car, or you flip your car.

C. Uninsured coverage is when you are hit by someone else who does not have insurance, and you have bodily injury - it pays medical bills, and pain and suffering. It also covers you as a pedestrian, and covers you for hit-and-run injuries.

D. Underinsured - this is when you're hit by somebody who has some insurance (usually state minimum limits), but you have A LOT of injuries. This pays the difference between how much coverage he has, and how much you bought. Example: You have $100,000 UIM. He has $20,000 bodily injury. He hits you, you have two broken legs, are in traction in the hospital for 6 weeks and need a month of rehab afterwards. Your hospital bills are $120,000. His policy pays $20,000, and your policy pays $80,000.

Your agent should be explaining these things. If they can't/won't, you need a new agent.

By the way, there is no "acts of God" in the insurance world. It's not written into any policy. It's not a proper insurance term. Also, flood damage to your car IS covered under comprehensive. NO CAR DAMAGE IS EVER COVERED BY A HOMEOWNERS POLICY, contrary to what someone above posted.

Car insurance/accident question?

The short answer is yet to the finding out and no the the involvment. The insurance company would find out even if you did not tell them because insurance companies share that type of claims information. They do this because sometimes people don't get their damage fixed and then try to claim the damage a second time on another accident. In addition, you are normally required by your policy to report the accident (which insurance company types call the "loss") This will have no impact on your rates, however, because you are not opening a claim and the accident was not your fault.

Hope this helps. This is a common question, but a very good one.

What are the answers to these questions about cars and insurance?

You could be stopped for any number of things from someone else in the car acting the fool, or the insurance saying a 30+ year old man is the main driver but the driver is a 17 year old. If you lie when you take out insurance they WILL find out and invalidate your insurance. if you think it's expensive now wait till you see how much lying to an insurance company raises the cost. If you register your dad as the main driver and you have an accident you can almost guarantee that the company will invalidate the insurance (I know someone that changed ford wheels for different ford wheels and he didn't tell the insurance company. He then hit a bus and the insurance company invalidated his insurance because of the wheels. He then got a bill for a new bus £250,000 which he had to pay)The best way to get insurance down is to pass your test and get a couple of years insured driving experience or get a car in a lower group for at least a year

If you call your car insurance company and ask a question about an accident, can your insurance go up even though you are not reporting an accident?

Hello! No, your car insurance will not go up if you just enquire about any concern that you have. Car insurance usually changes when you make a claim. That is because you lose on your NCB (No Claim Bonus). Please feel free to approach to your insurer and get all your doubts cleared. Be rest assured that neither you will be charged anything for this nor your insurance amount will go up.Hope this clarifies your doubt.
