Cat Has Bladder Stones At All Loss

Blood in cat's urine? :(?

I've noticed in the past week or so my cat has been going to the toilet midday on the kitchen floor, however only like a drop or a very small amount comes out. I've now noticed tonight little piles of watery blood on the floor where she normally decides to go. She's fourteen and she's never had any health problems before. I understand she's old so I should be expecting these kinds of things but, she's been with me since I was four, and I lost my dog three months ago and I just can't lose another pet. What could be wrong with her and how does age factor in with it?

My cat has lost some fur on her back, near her tail.?

It is not from fighting becuase it seems to grow back and then she will lose a bit more. I think the patch is getting larger. Any thoughts on what might be causing it?

My cat cannot pee he is blocked. i have no money to treat him. does anyone know any home or herbal remedies?

Kidney stones or bladder stones? I would suggest apple cider vinegar therapy with bladder stones, but kidney stones are another issue. And, the apple cider vinegar really should be organic unfiltered, but do the best you can. Real cranberry juice can be helpful (not the sugared, Ocean Spray stuff), but usually before the problem starts. You can also add a little baking soda to the vinegar or mix in with food. And speaking of food, if you are feeding dry then you are seeing the expensive effects of it. Get your cat on a wet food diet as dry diets are notorious for causing kidney and bladder issues. Get some bottled water as the chlorine and fluoride in public water will stress kidneys and bladder function and are often considered a contributing factor of bladder and kidney issues in humans as well as pets.

I've also included a link you might find helpful.

Call your local shelters, the SPCA, PAWS and vets and tell them you have just been laid off. Many shelters will work with you for low-to-not cost vet care when a pet owner has fallen on hard financial times (better to keep the cat in a home instead of it being dumped at a shelter).

Good luck. And if you don't see improvement in a few days, please start making the calls to vets, shelters, and other organization that might be able to help out. Hope you get your job back soon.

***If I see one more "if you can't afford a pet, get it a new home," when someone has been screwed by the economy I am going to scream. Yeah, and like the people are lined up waiting to adopt all these animals. Not! ***

Cat Had Struvite Urinary Tract Stones - What Should He Eat Now?

I have a cat with the exact same problem and I agree, C/D is garbage!! My cat was on C/D for 4 years but now I have my cat on Royal Canin Urinary SO (still from the vet), it does the same thing and has slightly better ingredients. I also give him some canned Wellness because I feel bad for giving him such a low-quality food, but I really don't want to risk another 800$ surgery so I keep him on the vet food as well.

As for your questions - Wellness is a great food, but it is up to you wether or not you want to put your cat on strickly wellness canned food. I can't bring myself to do that because I don't want to see my cat in as much pain as he was in before his surgery. I don't, however, think you should put him in C/D, I suggest a mix of Royal Canin and Wellness (but the majority of his diet should be RC)

You have to make sure that your kitty is drinking lots of water - I actually add water to my canned Wellness to make a "soup" and he gobbles it all up! You can also consider a water fountain (I have the Catit one) to promote more drinking, my cat loves it!!

Hope your kitty gets better!!

My young cat suddenly died?

My cat was diagnosed with an ear infection in her right ear on December 2. After a couple different antibiotic treatments she seemed to be improving even though she lost over 2 pounds in a month and a half and still had a head tilt. I found her bleeding from her ear on January 18 and took her to a new vet who referred me to a specialist. On January 20 the specialist found what he identified as a polyp in her right ear and took a sample of it to be biopsied to find out if it was benign or cancerous. It had grown through and ruptured her ear drum. She seemed to be getting better but late Monday afternoon she seemed to lose the ability to stand up, like she was very weak. This happened before at the start of her ear infection so I assumed it was because of the polyp. Also when I would touch her head she would shriek and growl in pain which she never has done. She was having about 60 respirations per minute by nighttime but her heart rate seemed normal. She peed right where she was laying without attempting to move. I put her in my bed and checked on her throughout the night with the intention of calling the vet in the morning. I was laying with her and moved her to a big chair when she suddenly stopped breathing and started choking and gasping for air. I tried to resuscitate her by blowing air in her nose because her heart was beating very rapidly but she was totally limp and her eyes were glazed over. I kept giving her respirations as my boyfriend drove us to the emergency vet. During the drive her back legs were kicking around and she peed a little. Her heart was still beating when I brought her in the clinic and they tried to revive her but couldn't. She wasn't even 3 years old yet so this is really hard for me to accept and understand what went wrong. The specialist is doing a post mortem but I don't know what he'll be able to find.

Has anyone watched a cat die like that? Did you ever find out what caused it? It was really traumatic to me and I keep feeling guilty like maybe if I would have taken her to the emergency clinic that night they could have saved her.

My cat is sick, she has lost her hapetite towards her dry food, but she sometimes eat et food.?

Then feed her a diet of wet food only! :o)

Cats were never meant to eat dry food, also known as cereals or kibble. We, humans, make them eat it for convenience to us. It has nothing to do with them or their nutritional needs. It's completely species inappropriate.

All small domestic cats descended from desert cats. In the wild, desert cats derive their entire liquid intake from their prey. They do not have a thirst mechanism because they don't need it when eating a species appropriate diet. They get all they need from what they eat. Additionally water was usually not available to them in their desert climate. So they do not often drink water. Regular ol' house cats have descended from those same wild desert cats.

So in a home environment, your kitty does not get the moisture it needs from dry food and it’s almost always in a constant state of dehydration. Water fountains are encouraged to TRY to get your cat to drink more and your kitty may even enjoy it, but it will never meet its water intake needs drinking from a bowl.

Deadly feline illnesses such as diabetes, kidney failure, obesity, allergies, Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD), bladder stones, kidney stones, urinary tract blockages and Urinary Tract Infections (FLUTD), with and without deadly crystals run rampant these days. Cats are not taking in enough water to stave them off. Proper water intake through a species appropriate diet alone can prevent most of these conditions.

Overall, wet is all around better for any cats diet, be it canned or Raw and they should never be fed dry cereal kibble if we wish to most closely match their wild nutritional and dietary needs. Kibble meets our needs… not our cats.

How long can cats hold their pee? I was cleaning the litter box and my cat just peed on the floor while watching me clean.

Depends on the cat.I’ve had females who went 2x daily like clockwork, and I’ve had cats both male and female (not counting those who sprayed) who went several times a day.Right now, I’ve got a female with chronic cystitis, who pees frequently, will not use a litterpan that is not spotless, and without BOTH a spotless litterpan AND the help of Prozac, will pee all over the place. She’s a love, but she’s neurotic as all get out.I also have an elderly (nearly 15 year old male, who just can’t hold it. He’s very arthritic and not only does it take him a bit to get moving if he’s been sleeping, but when he’s gotta go, he’s GOTTA GO! (Kinda like his “mom”.)He also sometimes dribbles in a deep sleep. I have a waterproof pad on the mattress, and various throws on furniture that can be washed and dried if he “springs a leak”.Both cats are on a prescription diet. The old man needs a very soft litter due to complications from declawing loooong before I got him (he was 11 when I adopted him), but always tries to make it to the litterpan. He will also use a litterpan no matter what. And, since it’s hard for him to squat low enough to happily pee all over his “britches”. (He’s a Maine Coon Cat), and doesn’t much care what he steps in.Needless to say, he gets a clean-up before bed-time.ANY time a cat quits using the litter pan, first look at pan conditions as regarding cleanliness, etc.If fine, haul cat into the vet. Odds’re very good that the cat has a bladder infection. If this goes on for long enough (my female came from a hoarder and had the infection when she came to me. Her bladder had been permanently damaged, she was not treated at the shelter, and she’d learned to associate the litter pan with pain.)

Has anyone had kidney stones? can you tell me what symptoms you had and how you got rid of them?

Oh man, i feel bad for him if he has a kidney stone! Don't wait a week to go to the doctor. Go to the ER now to get medication to help deal with the pain. I'm passing a kidney stone now. You usually feel sharp pains mostly through your right or left back at first (depending on which kidney the stone originates from).

As it travels down, it causes very intense pain. When I had another kidney stone a year ago, I was in so much pain that I was crawling on the floor in the ER and pacing back and forth to the bathroom! But, as soon as they get you into a room they'll put you on pain meds that immediately relieve the pain (I think they give you a form of morphine).

You may have blood in your urine because the stone scrapes the inside of the ureter (tube that connects the bladder and kidney) and causes inflammation and bleeding. As it nears your bladder, you feel intense pressure on the bladder as it tries to get in. When it gets to the bladder, it stops hurting. Then it passes through the urethra and genital. As bad as that sounds, it's not very painful going through that area.

When in the ER, they will do a cat scan to see the size of the stones. If it's too big, usually 5mm or more, they will probably have to do lithotripsy to break the stone up or surgery. If it's smaller than 5mm, it will usually pass on its own taking between a few hours to 4 weeks to pass. The one I'm trying to pass now is about 4.5mm and I have been waiting a month. If it doesn't pass in a few days, I will have to go in for surgery most likely. I dont' have insurance, but there's not much you can do when you're in that much pain!

I hope he feels better soon. I can't stress enough to go to the ER, get pain meds, and have them test to see how big the stone is! Drink lots of liquids to help flush that thing out!
