Cat Not Responding To Name And Has Other Symptoms

What are the symptoms of a clogged catalytic converter?

A clogged catalytic convertor causes the symptoms of a loss of power when accelerating or going up a hill. This is an often overlooked cause, and mechanics will often change a few parts unnecessarily , especially if it is only partially plugged. A couple ways I check for plugged cats when a low power complaint is a symptom, and other obvious basic maintenance items have been checked for service is to have someone hold the rpm at about 1800 to 2000 steady. Then check for a good push of exhaust with my hand from behind the tailpipe. A plugged or partially plugged cat typically leaves a hot sickly feeling exhaust flow from the tailpipe. Compare to a known good working car nearby, known to be performing properly and with the same amount of cylinders. That slow , hot sickly flow at 2000 rpm compared to the hard push blowing your hand away of a not clogged cat is a dead giveaway, and I have NEVER misdiagnosed a plugged cat , or made false diagnosis with this method. Another way is watching a vacuum gauge connected to the intake manifold. When revving up, if the exhaust is plugged the gauge reading will climb then begin to slowly drop as the exhaust pressure builds up. Further testing will be needed to verify which part of the exhaust is plugged. Diagnostic by codes is unreliable and until now I had not heard of it. A code p420 only refers to catalyst efficiency. And can be set by faulty o2 sensors. Removing the exhaust and testing for engine power returning to normal works. But the hot sickly flow has been most accurate with my experience, in several cases where shops had missed it, were stumped and called me to come check. They are always embarrassed for missing the simplicity, but need not, as cars and their complicated electronics and even age old problems can lead to loss of power without any immediately obvious cause.

My cat won't respond to her name

Yes some cats are not in to the whole I am here thing. Instead its I will do what you want thing that's why they are so special!! You can tell when she understands she may slightly move one ear... she will know her name, she just wont let you KNOW SHE KNOWS!! heh heh gotta love them

Why is my cat foaming at mouth after a flea treatment?

If the flea treatment was topical frontline, advantage, or revolution, he is probably okay. Those products are pretty safe even if he licked a little of it, but they taste horrible. Cats foam at the mouth after tasting or smelling anything they really hate, such as oral antibiotics! If foaming at the mouth is all he does and it only lasts less than 15 minutes but he seems fine in every other respect (and you used one of those products) he is probably fine, no need to call a local vet.BUT….there are a number of over the counter flea and tick products that are very toxic to cats. Never use one labelled for a dog or any other species on a cat, never put anything on a kitten less than 6 weeks old without clearing it (and the dose) with your local vet first, and make sure you put a feline flea product on the back of the NECK, not between the shoulder blades. Cats can lick their shoulder blades and even their lower back of the neck. I put my cat flea products high on the back of the neck near the head. There are even some flea products labelled for cats that have caused serious neurological problems and death. These cats don’t foam, though, they yowl and tremble and have trouble walking and then develop seizures. If you used a product different than frontline, advantage, or revolution labelled for the size cat you have and the cat shows ANY OTHER SYMPTOMS besides drooling or the drooling lasts longer than 15 minutes, wash the product off using a strong dish soap like Dawn dishwashing liquid. Repeat the shampoo/rinse cycle at least 3–5 times before stopping, and have somebody call the vet or the animal poison control number while you are doing this. Time is of the essence when removing these products from the skin, because they absorb very quickly. Just to let you know, it costs $70 to call the animal control poison control, they will not give you information for free. If it is during business hours, you could call the number of the company that made the product (its always on the box) but please wash the stuff off while you have someone call, don’t call first! Depending what the product was, you may be able to save the cat if you act quickly. Good luck to you!

How can I tell if my cat is dying?

Most cats who are dying will first quit eating. They may want to hide. They may not let someone hold them. My cat Dylan was almost sixteen and dying of kidney disease. I had been giving him fluids, and he was doing pretty well. We were closely bonded. I had told him from the time he was a kitten that if it was his time to go, I’d respect that. One day, he quit eating and started hanging out in the bathroom. He wouldn’t let me hold him, just struggled to get down and went back to the bathroom. After a bit more than a day of this (it started on Saturday night), I said, ‘You’re ready to go, aren’t you?’ I called his vet on Monday afternoon. She agreed to come back after the clinic closed. As soon as I got off the phone, I went to him and told him that the vet would be by in a little while. He then let me pick him up and hold him. I held him for two hours before the vet got there and then as she gave him the injection. It was sad, but I knew he was ready.Talk to your cat. Listen to him. Talk to the vet about what you think if you’re not sure.Cats who have access to the outdoors may simply go away to die.

My cat is vomiting, not eating or drinking and not pooping?

we CAN afford a vet its just hard for my mom since christmas is comming and she doesnt have a job :( um its been about 3 days she's vomited about 4 times a day she's eating like a few kibbles and we've been making her drink and she just started drinking on her own today, thanks for your answers ill show my mom when she gets home from night school. um my mom met a friend when she went to get josie some medicine. her cat had been doing the exact same thing and her vet said to buy her the stuff we just bought. i know our cats cant be exactly the same but shouldn't i give it a day or two to see if it improves her health or should i tell my mom to take her immediatly. i just dont want anything to happen to her :'(

How can i tell if my cat is dying?

For the last few days i have noticed that my cat is laying around in spots that she never would before....like she is hiding. She also is very lifeless...usually she is full of life and very playful at night and now she is just laying around. Tonight i noticed that she is lying with her head almost in her water dish and i was trying to pet her and nudge her and she wouldnt even look up or open her eyes. She finally got up and is now laying under the table but when i call her name she doesnt respond at all and barely moves her eyes and when she did get up she seemed like she was dizzy and almost fell over. She has an appt next week at the vet but now iam worried. We have no vet open at night in this area...closest one is almost 2 hours away. What do these signs mean and what can i do? please help!

My cat seems tired and doesn't want to move?

My cat was completely fine when I fed her this morning, and throughout the day she's increasingly lost her energy. She doesn't want to play, she doesn't purr when I rub her and she didn't greet me at the door when I got home. I called her name, but she wouldn't respond to me, she just stayed in her sleeping position. She also didn't want to eat her treat that I gave her before I left for a little while.

She's attentive, she'll look at me and she'll look for the noise I make. She also purred a tiny bit when I found her in her sleeping spot when I got home...

I'm just wondering if this is something I should be worried about and make a visit to the vet or is this just normal "I'm not feeling well" kitty behaviour?
