Catching Tularemia From A Dead Rabbit

Can you catch any diseases from being bitten by a rabbit?

I was bitten by my rabbit and even though I cleaned it, it still hurts and it's bleeding a lot. So pretty much I was just wondering if it could be infected with some weird rabbit disease.

Can my dog have rabies from eating dead animals?

My little chihuahua was vaccinated against rabies back in February can she still get rabies from dead rabbits a squirrels? She is acting weird. She is not eating, she is shaky (more then she normally is), she never stops shaking. Her breathing is kind of like she is having a hard time taking in deep breaths but it doesn't seem to be bothering her. Could it be possible that she got something from these animals that she has been eating? I'm really concerned for her. And I just had a baby a month ago and am concerned it could be something that she could give to the baby. I don't have the money to take her to the vet so if you could please help me that would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Do raccoons and squirrels and rabbits eat away cilantro/coriander, mint and fegugreek leaves?

They love all of those. We have a pet rabbit and grow cilantro for her. She gets a look of total contentment on her face as she eats each stem like a spaghetti noodle. Try growing these in containers or pots that are not low to the ground. That should discourage them.

Do some cats kill and eat rabbits?

Yes, indeed, cats kill and eat rabbits. Until my husband was chosen by a cat to belong to him, I didn't rally know this. But Tigger — the cat that claimed my husband — was about 10 years old when we had a lot of baby rabbits in the woods near us. Our neighbors' lawn evidently looked like a good nursery to a mother rabbit. But it wasn't. I never noticed any rabbit activity across the street. Tigger did. The first we knew of it was when we found 3 little headless bodies on our deck. We felt very guilty and a bit puzzled about the missing heads. Our neighbor cleared that up for us. They found three rabbit heads on their porch that morning. Tigger was providing for both households because our neighbor and he were good friends. Not much of the meat was eaten but Tigger was very proud of himself. We were appalled but our neighbors, whose gardens were being raided at night by the increased rabbit population, were grateful.

My dog had a dead rabbit in his mouth should I be worried?

Did the dog have any injuries? Is the dog current on his shots?

Those are the two questions you should ask.

My ex-racing Greyhounds chase the squirrels, the rabbits, anything smaller than themselves. The only occasionally catch anything, and have not (to date) killed anything they caught.

The very first squirrel that my grey caught put up one hell of a fight, and gave my boy a pretty deep cut on his nose. His shots were current, so I kept an eye on him, and he was fine.

Touching dead mouse with hands?

It was dark and I noticed that there was something on the ground, and picked it up. It turned out to be a dead mouse. Happened by accident...... I thoroughly washed my hands with soap and water. Am I at risk for any diseases, etc? I have no open cuts on my hand and as I said before, thoroughly washed my hands. Thanks.

Why do teachers prevent children from touching dead squirrels?

Out of a concern that children can catch disease from touching a dead squirrel.  Although the main health risk to humans is from the ticks and flea carried by a squirrel, many people fear that a squirrel may be a source of rabies or even the bubonic plague.  So teachers (and parents as well), adopt an attitude of "better safe than sorry) regarding touching dead squirrels and other animals.
