Caught Stealing From Walmart; What Should I Expect

How are people caught stealing at Walmart?

Walmart gives every employee a bonus. for catching a shoplifter! This is one reason you see to many people getting wrongly treated in Walmart! They don’t train or hire people with loss prevention background or schooling! There may be a few people in the store with training! Many times they hire off duty officers, but that by no means is that they been trained right! Also push comes to it the officer not going to lose his full time job over a part time work! Since he would most likely lose both! You also see people targeted by race, age, sex! In the loss prevention room! Or the camera room? How many people have bought a item that they needed to hold in there hand because it would fall out of the basket? Then at some point they without thinking put the item in there pocket to answer the phone, or to pickup something else?Or you go to the self checkout line? Because of the 30 other cash out stalls only has 1 checker? So you not knowing how there remote scanner works only ring up some not all of the items in your cart because there to heavy to lift out! Then the guy at the door checks your receipt? Now your a shoplifter! Many times I got home figured out that I rang up to many of the same items screwed my self! All because I was afraid of being called a shoplifter!

How long do you have to get caught from stealing from Walmart if you’re not caught in store? My friend steals from Walmart and I’m sure they have his plate number. He said he hasn’t done it in a while. What are the chances he’ll be arrested later on?

Walmart once thought that I was a thief. I purchased a store display television back in the pre-flat screen days. I carried it out over my shoulder and the store security officer decided that, because the TV was not in a box, I was stealing it.The security officer and his cohorts attempted to stop me as I left. No request to see a receipt, simply an order to stop walking. I do not take orders from strangers who are not police, so I continued walking out the door.He tailed me uttering many threats which I ignored. I am nearly six and a half feet tall and work out often so I felt that there was little he could do. I placed the television into my car.The security officer then attempted to block my vehicle in the space it was parked. However, he neglected to note that there was no car parked to my vehicle’s front and I simply drove over the small median with my SUV.As I drove away the officer exclaimed that he would call the police. He also followed me to my home.I never heard another thing about this.Walmart security thought I stole a high dollar item, noted my plate number, obtained my address, and called the police. Nothing was ever done and I continued to shop at Walmart.I doubt your friend has much to worry about if he stops stealing from them.

I got caught stealing from Walmart?

It appears you didn't search Yahoo Answers for this same question. A number of times each week a person gives a story about being caught shoplifting at WalMart. For some reason you neglected to share which state you committed your crime in. As you can imagine every state has different laws. I will have to give you a generic answer.

WalMart has the largest security force in the world. They also invest in the highest technology for their surveillance system. You couldn't have picked a worse place to try and steal.

Please keep in mind the miranda warning is NOT used for arrests. Thats just for TV. As the WalMart security force is not police - they will NEVER use the miranda warning.

Typically WalMart only sends you a civil fine. That keeps you from getting a permanent criminal record. The civil fine is $500. You singed a form agreeing to pay that as soon as you get the invoice. The civil fine goes only to WalMart and is used to pay for the cost of this investigation. If you forget to pay as soon as you get the invoice, it goes to a collections agency. The collections agency doubles the fine to $1000. If you don't pay them, then the judge will have to get your payment when you go to court.

For your permanent criminal charges, you will go to court and plea guilty or not guilty. Keep in mind WalMart videotapped you stealing. WalMart security forces created a notarized and signed affidavit documenting what they observed you do. Finally, when you were in the room confessing, they audio and video recorded you. When you left you signed a confession and agreed to not step foot in WalMart again. The judge will decide what your county fine is and how long your probation will last. Stealing $1 or $499 is the same penalty. $500 and up is a felony.

Can I work for Walmart security if I have been caught stealing from Walmart in the past?

I was asked to answer, but you’d really have to address that question to the manager of the Wal-Mart in question. For the sake of sharing a few observations, I’d be extraordinarily surprised if the answer turned out to be “yes.”A retail theft conviction normally is a significant black mark on anyone’s employment record if the job involves any handling of merchandise or money. Technically, a security guard might not be directly involved in handling merchandise, but they would be responsible for intercepting other shoplifters and I don’t know that the management would want foxes guarding their henhouse. And don’t think they won’t check for convictions of this type of offence. Wal-Mart (and other retailers) regularly blacklist shoplifters, people who write bad checks, and others who are viewed as stealing from the company, whether or not the people were convicted, and they lobby for people who have been convicted of retail theft from Wal-Mart to be banned from Wal-Mart as part of the terms of their probation or parole. In some states, there might be a limitation on refusing to hire ex-offenders to “offences related to the employment,” but I am convinced this is sufficiently related to the employment that even if such a scheme existed in your state, Wal-Mart would still not be precluded from refusing to hire you. And if there is no such scheme, at-will employment would essentially insulate any hiring decision from oversight by the courts.Perhaps if the conviction were particularly remote (in excess of 10 years) or the conviction were obtained in a closed juvenile proceeding, you might have a chance.

What happens to an employee of walmart if they are caught stealing?

The store (if she was seen) will investigate more to see if she has done any other thefts. Once the investigation is complete or near complete she will be called in to Loss prevention office. There she will be questioned by LPN about this and any other incident. Once interview is done she will either be fired or suspended without pay. Its also possible she will be turned over to Police at that time and arrested. If she is called in she should answer no questions without an Attorney present. The LPN will already know what he is going to do talking to your friend will only enhance their case

Caught stealing alcohol from Walmart? Minor?

Second offense of shoplifting, but never got papers for the first offense. I was charged with Possession of Alcohol by minor and Petty Larceny. I am 17.

What's going to be my punishment? My moms boyfriend may have exaggerated but said in the worse case I can face up to $1000 fines, 2 years probation, up to 600 hours community service and/or up to a year in jail.

I got caught shoplifting at Walmart under 10$?

Today i did the most stupid thing in my life. Before anyone responds i understand that what i did was wrong and that I made a mistake;it was a one time thing and I dont plan on doing it again. I stole 7 dollars worth of condoms and got caught. I was taken into the room where all the screens that show the cameras were, and they basically took the condoms off me and asked for all my information. They told me it wasn't too big of a deal, and that I would have gone to jail if I didnt have an id with me. No police were called, however they said that there is a chance I may recieve a letter in the mail that can ask for a fine. I'm currently 17 years old and if my parents see a letter from Walmart that said I was stealing, my life is basically over. They let me go and gave me 2 sheets of paper; one was an asset protection recovery talking about how I may get a message from walmarts associates (the Law Office of Palmer, Reiler, and Associates) in order to resolve the matter. This sheet also gives me a number that I can call and pay the fines without having to receive any further communication. This would be nice because i definitely dont want my parents finding out, however they also said there is a chance that they won't even send me anything due to the fact that my record was clean and it was under 10 dollars. I would love to avoid paying the fine (they said it could be up to 150 dollars) but I also dont wanna risk anything with getting in trouble. Does anyone know the chances of me potentially receiving this letter? Should I wait and face the consequences with my parents or just pay the fines? HELPPP

What is it like to get caught shoplifting at Walmart?

The loss prevention person will stop you as you try to leave and escort you into the security room. If you try to flee or resist you will have aditional charges added when the police arrive and they are usually already on the way. If you have fled the scene the officers will be given your description and they will hunt for you.Wal Mart's policy is to prosecute. If they choose not to prosecute it will be an exception to the rule. While you are sitting in the security room the loss prevention person will be sorting and photographing the property, preparing their police report and copying the video for the police. They will take your picture, issue you a trespass warning for all Wal Marts, meaning that you will be arrested if you return to that store or any Wal Mart.In many states you will be issued a legal notice that you owe the store 2 or 3 hundred dollars in a civil penalty to cover their cost. Then you will be turned over to the custody of the police officer. The police offficer determines if you are eligible for being issued a court date and a notice to appear or if you get the full ride to jail.If you are a juvenile the police will either have you call your parents to come pick you up (imagine having to explain yourself on the phone) or they will transport you to the juvenile processing center. The arrrest becomes a permanent part of your history.Wal Mart is vigorous about catching and prosecuting.
