Causes Of A Sudden Severe Headache Above My Eye That Lasts Only A Few Seconds

How can I prevent Adderall headaches after taking my second dose later in the day?

How can I prevent Adderall headaches after taking my second dose later in the day?I take 15 mg in the morning and I'm prescribed to take another 15 to get me through the day. However, after I take my second dose, within a few hours, I get a headache that lasts for several hours. What can I do to prevent this?Headache is a common side-effect of Adderall; about 25% of people who take Adderall get headaches related to it.  The headaches can be the result of Adderall's effects on blood pressure, or due to low blood sugar caused by Adderall's tendency to suppress appetite, or due to a dose that is too high.Call your doctor immediately if you experience fast, pounding, and/or uneven heartbeats; dizziness; fainting; severe, excruciating headache; muscle twitches; loss of concentration; hallucinations; chest pain or seizures. If you are getting headaches more than twice a week, consult your doctor.  The total dose of your medication or the time at which you take the second dose may need to be adjusted. Some suggestions for headache prevention with Adderall:eat a snack or a meal every 3 - 4 hours that includes protein to keep your blood sugar stablemanage your stress  - stress can elevate blood pressure and increase muscle tension in the head and neck, increasing your susceptibility to headachetake a warm bath - the warmth causes peripheral blood vessels to dilate, which reduces blood pressure; it also promotes muscle relaxation

The 5 Second Headache?

1. Tension headache: This is your garden-variety headache, with diffuse pain wrapping across the top of your head. These headaches often result from stress or lack of sleep. They're not usually disabling, typically fade overnight, and can be easily relieved with ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or aspirin.

2. Migraine headache: Migraines tend to hit one side of the head, and can last from several hours to several days. They’re usually marked by a sensitivity to sound and light. When a migraine strikes, you can manage it with Advil Migraine or Motrin Migraine Pain (both ibuprofen medications) or Excedrin Migraine (a combination of aspirin, acetaminophen, and caffeine).

3. Cluster headache: This one is an excruciating attack that explodes behind one eye, reaches a crescendo after about an hour, and then vanishes—only to return in a day or so. This goes on for a few weeks, and then stops for months. Numerous drugs target clusters, including some of the migraine meds.

The good news about these headaches, says Dr. Holt, is that they're all completely harmless. But not every aching head is a simple headache. Here are six that could be a sign of something serious—and potentially deadly. Watch out for . . .

The Thunderclap Headache
If head pain hits you like a bolt out of nowhere, intensifying in a few minutes into the worst headache you've ever had, call 911. The list of causes for this kind of headache isn't long (aneurysm, stroke, meningitis) but almost everything on it can be very quickly fatal, says Dr. Holt.

Sudden extreme headache and dizziness?

Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief.
If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture.

There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.

Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.

Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.

But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.

If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.

It may disappear naturally too.

Sudden, sharp, mild pains that last for less than a second, on the right side of head?

(P.P.P.P.S.: I found what looks like the closest term for the "sudden pains" -- brain zaps -- but I don't take any SSRI medication, so I'm not entirely sure)

Sorry for the really long note, but...

I've gotten what was described in the title every once in a while (less than once per month), and they range from painful to almost painless. And they've only appeared in times of high stress so far, so the cure I've used for them is taking a breather from the thing that causes the stress.

But today they've risen in frequency, and just a second ago was the third of such moments that I've gotten today. For some reason, all three have stuck to 0-2 out of 10 in pain. What kind of possible causes for this could there be?

Also, probably coincidental, but the amount of time sitting down that causes a few seconds of dizziness when standing up (as mentioned here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081108074548AA8A43k ) has changed from 45+ to just 10+ minutes for me today. Coincidence, or what?

P.S. And also while reviewing the question, I unconsciously touched the part of my head that (without exception) is where the pain happens, and at that moment I felt sudden pain #4 today. It was kind of 1.5 out of 10 on the aforementioned scale.

P.P.S.: And also-also, while reviewing the updated question, I've felt a weird headache(?) around the back of my head. It's really a 0 out of 10 on the aforementioned scale, as it feels more like the right half of the back of my head is heavier than the others.

P.P.P.S.: During my writing this question, I tried to find the correct term for the "sudden pain that lasts less than half a second" with a search engine, but the search engine suggested several more-serious-than-this(-I-hope) conditions: when I typed "Brain...", it suggested "Brain aneurysm", "Brain tumor", "Brain dead", etc. So I'm fairly certain most of the above P.S. notes are all really just Nocebo effect (opposite of Placebo)... but I added them just in case.

P.P.P.P.P.S.: Thanks for reading this really lengthy note and while writing this thank-you note, the top of my head suddenly felt a sort-of tap-like pain (0.3/10 on the aforementioned scale), but not "inner" pain (like a headache), it was more like "outer pain" (like someone's thrown a single pebble and hit the top of your head).

Why am I getting sudden needle prick like headaches on the back of my head for few seconds?

“Why am I getting sudden needle prick like headaches on the back of my head for few seconds?”Since many days I feel sudden needle prick like sharp headaches on the back of my head mostly on the left.Since few days again, I'm experiencing this randomly all over the head. And today I even felt this pain on my eyebrows. The pains at the left back of your head might be Occipital neuralgia. No idea what’s going on with the random discomforts and eyebrow pain.TL;DR: A visit to a Neurologist is strongly advised. .

Needle like pains above eye and severe pain?

Headaches are caused by tight muscles in your neck. Those muscles go to the top of your head for it's movements and when tight up there they pull on other muscles to surround your brain with pain, your headache. When the muscles are tightening up and they run out of give the muscles will have a pain where they are attached to the skull. Your muscles were not ready to go into pain it would seem so they gave your a prick pain as it was happening. The tight muscles are attached just above your eye. To get rid of your headache you have to free up the muscles in your neck and here's how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
