What are the chances of finding a iPhone?

I found an Iphone 4 the other day like alot of people do. Im wondering how can people spend hundreds of dollars on a device and not be more careful. Don't tell me to give it back that's not what im asking nor do Ieven care. I just want to know what are the odds of someone going about there Business everyday, doing day to day activities working, school and whatever and finding an iphone or an expensive android phone? Thanks.

Depends on what do you mean by “finding”.If by “finding” you mean, observing with interferometers and maybe huge space telescopes, it is very likely. We have already observed planets in the habitable zones of their solar systems, and we have a nice chance that some of these days we will have a chance to confirm the observation of an Earth-sized planet with liquid water and maybe nitrogen/oxigen atmosphere, but…If by “finding” you mean seting foot on its surface and maybe stick some flags into it, I have a lot of bad news for you:Technological barriers:There is no known (and confirmed) method of space travel other than rockets, and rockets has to carry their fuel with them. If the rocket is heavier, it has to carry more fuel. If you want the rocket to accelerate faster you have to carry more fuel, which makes the rocket heavier. So there is a practical limit of speed you can even reach with rocket propulsion. That limit is somewhere around 120-150km/s (268 432-335 540mph). You will practically never go any faster than that with a rocket. Never. Remember, that the nearest star is 4.3 light years away, which means your trip on a roketship woud take like 1 499 956 years.Astrophysic barriers:You might say rockets (at least conventional rockets) may become obsolete, and we might develop something faster and more energy-efficient, and why not? Maybe we will. There is still the Einsteinian laws of dynamics funded in the theory of relativity which prove that practically nothing can exceed an universal speed limit. The speed of light in vacuum. (Actually it is not like that. The limit is not the speed of light. The limit is absolute, and even light can not travel faster.) We are pretty sure what would happen if something would travel with relativistic speeds, so we know this limit can not be exceeded - even with technologies we don't know yet. Se a spaceship with any available or future technology couldn't reach the nearest star within 4.3 years.

What are the chances to get back a stolen car?

A BIG question is where you reside.

In Newark, New Jersey, a city which had the nation's highest rate of car thefts, their police department set up the Auto Theft Task Force, staffed with officers permanently assigned to that unit (I believe it was also staffed by personnel from other departments, e.g., sheriff's deputies).

Their efforts proved so successful that car thefts dropped dramatically; that rate is a shadow of its former self. As a result, the task force practically put itself out of business. Rather than resting on their laurels, however, they've also taught other departments what they've learned.

Another thing is whether your car is equipped with any kind of anti-theft device; LoJack is the best, because of its high rate of recovery.

Did you notify the police and your insurance company?

Good luck.

What are my chances of finding evidence to convict someone for a stolen car?

my car was stolen and then they lit the car on fire and everything is destroyed inside and on the car - most likely no evidence.

evidence - car keys, and my wallet that were in the possesion of the suspect during the crime, these were thrown out of the car and laid in the grass next to a road overnight. a dog found the items and a woman took them home and put them in a plastic bag, after that these items have barley been touched.

there is a chance that suspect is still in possesion of stolen items such as subwoofers, amplifiers, and other things stolen from car.

what are my chances of getting this suspect convicted for this crime and finding evidence on wallet and keys?

Yes, but much of it depends on context. If you are in a small town where everyone knows you or are in a profession where everyone knows everyone else, it is a big deal.Don’t Say That You Were Fired. There was an underlying reason for the firing and it typically is some legitimate business reason. Was there a new manager, downsizing, position became obsolete, etc.? If so, then say so. If it was because you did something stupid, then don’t mention the position or you may have to explain things a bit creatively. Do not lie, but do explain things in a positive way.Continuity. Employers know that things can turn sour on a job for reasons that have nothing to do with you. They are going to be more concerned with continuity. If you did well at a previous employer or two for several years, but had one job with a negative outcome, players will be quick to overlook the one bad year. Just make sure that you overlook it also.

I can't provide you any constructive solution, but I just wanted to point out some flaws in your theory. I have changed the IMEI no of my phone several times(to check whether it works) and Google doesn't detect the IMEI no. of the device it detects the MAC address of any device(which can also be changed ).I am really inclined to tell you how it is done , but as you said it would lead to more tamperers. So unless the thief is smart you have a pretty good chance of finding your phone again. Last year my friend lost her Galaxy Grand 2 and she followed the usual procedure of reporting it to a police station. She got her phone 3 months later , so despite our assumptions I don't think the police are really lame with technology. So all you can do right now is wait.

Lost my iPhone 6 2 months back. Filed a FIR with Police and they said they’ll keep the IMEI of the phone on tracking. Still I haven’t from them. And I guess I’ll never get back the phone. The reason is, Lost Mode. It’s activated on the phone and you cannot do anything on the phone without disabling Lost Mode first. So, the person will have to enter iCloud ID and Password in order to re-activate that iPhone. It’s just a expensive paperweight!
