Chances To Get Into Ivy League Schools

Do I have a chance to get into an Ivy League school? I have 3.8 Unweighted GPA and 4.4 Weighted GPA. ACT Score: 35 Math II: 800 SAT Physics 800

I had an almost identical academic profile and had no problem getting into Brown last December.Really what differentiates you from this point on wards is your extracurriculars, written material, etc. Aka everything except your transcript (which I assume comes from a “reputable school” and that you have taken a share of the challenging courses at your high school: whether this is multiple aps, IB, or courses at a local college) and test scores. So if I were you, I would shift my focus on grades and scores to something else. Especially if you are a senior I suggest you to chill since it is only a few days until March 28, and there really is no point in stressing yourself out at this point.

Can i get into any of IVY league schools?

You'll get into Berkeley and UCLA, but you likely won't get into any Ivy League schools. I got rejected from Princeton, and I had a more impressive sheet...

That's me ^^^ so you could compare...btw, Princeton and NYU were the only schools to reject me...though for Ivies, I did get into Cornell, Columbia, UPenn, and I got waitlisted for Yale...

What are my chances of getting into an Ivy League school with high grades (4.0 GPA) good extraculliculars and essays but an average SAT score (1400)?

A2A. Solely based on cumulative GPA and SAT scores, a weighted GPA of 4.0 and a cumulative SAT score of 1400 has very little chance of being admitted into the Ivies. If you are serious about getting into an Ivy, you should retake the SAT with essay. A score of 1520 will be competitive. See SAT Score Range: What's a Good SAT Score for Colleges? - Magoosh High School Blog.Having said that, the most important piece of information of getting into the Ivies is to understand how they select their students. To help you with your application, see College essays, the last and most important step in an undergraduate application by James Leland Harp on How to get into the University of your choice.

My chances of getting into an ivy league school?

Hey there, i wish you the best of luck, and i hope your score predictions are on target, that might help you. Don't let naysayers get you down either, i was only in the top 15% of my school, with an 1800 on the SATs and i got an interview with Yale. For the most part, Ivys like devotion and quirkiness. Keep doing the things you love, be enthusiastic about them and just love what you do. It will show through and they will eat that up. Do not spread yourself too thin, keep doing what you are doing, keep up your grades up and just, love what you are doing.

I also noticed that some of the other answers included financial concerns, ignore them too, Ivys have a lot of grants, for example, the tuition rates at Yale are forty something thousand a year, but most students only pay 6 thousand.

Can I get into an Ivy League School?

Hi, I am going to be a freshman, and I am going to high school in Louisiana. I want to be a surgeon. I usually get all 4.0's.
Here is my schedule:
Honors English 9
Cultural Geography Honors/IB *this course is a honors social studies elective*
Biology *at my school this is the highest class that freshman can take, there is no honors science offered for freshman*
Geometry *this is what I am concerned about, I didn't get into Geometry Honors, but if I do well this year I can get into Honors math next year and be in Honors Calc as a Senior*
Spanish 2 *I'll be in Spanish 5 AP as a senior*

Extracurricular:
High School Cheer
All-Star Cheer *competing on a national level, but this is not associated with my HS in any way*
Key Club *volunteer group at my school*
& I will probably join a school club that works in hospitals and delivers flowers ect.

So my questions are:
Will me being in a normal math class in my freshman year ruin my chances of getting into an ivy league?
Am I doing enough extra curriculars?
Is it bad for me that my school does not offer an honors science class for 9th graders?
What else can I do to ensure that I get into a good school?

Thanks!

Is there any chance getting into ivy league schools with average grades?

Even perfect grades is no guarantee of getting into the Ivy Leagues.Let’s put this in context. The Ivy Leagues have many more applicants with perfect grades than there are slots to fill. Now, we are a very long time past when the application process consisted of nothing more than an entrance exam. With such an embarrassment of riches of applicants, if I am going to be charitable, then next cut is going to be, in short, what do you add to the composition of the student body that is unique.Do you have some extraordinary talent, whether in academics, or outside of it? Have you accomplished something truly notable? Do you bring a very underrepresented perspective to the school? Did you create or provide driving force to some notable organization? A business or a non-profit?To the degree these sorts of things stand out, you can make up for less than perfect academic performance. Were the schools you attended notable for their rigor, and the difficulty of getting good grades? Well known schools will be factored into the admissions decisions.I highlight all these things to make you consider the realities. You don’t describe the nature of your “mathematical disabilities”. Unless you have a specific diagnosis from a qualified professional, this will just be parsed as “not good at maths”, which will certainly not help your case. That’s the bad news. The good news is that, while attending an elite school can give you a leg up on future career success, it is not the final determinant, at least in the U.S. If you already have career plans in mind, apply to the best universities that have good programs related to your career plan. The best school overall is not necessarily the best school in a particular field. And for certain careers, the choice of school really doesn’t matter that much.Don’t buy into the story that getting into an Ivy League school is some sort of guarantee of success. (I speak from personal experience.) It is the qualities, and the content of your character, that, when you are young, get you into an Ivy League, that are much greater determinants. These can be developed later, if you “wasted your youth”. (Not saying you did, mind you.)Make a plan, work hard, keep learning, experiment, fail, modify your plan, repeatedly, that is more likely to lead to success than the fact of matriculating at an Ivy League school.

What are my chances of getting into Stanford or an Ivy League school?

I am currently a junior and go to a school in Los Angeles. I want to know my chances of getting into an Ivy League and/or Stanford. Background information about me: I am Asian (Filipino specifically), low-income (less than $40,000 a year for 4 people), and I will be ranked #2 out of about 430 people in my class. My unweighted GPA is 3.95 and my weighted is 4.25. Freshman year I took: H Biology, H Algebra 2, PE, Health/Life Skills, H Spanish 1, and H English 9. Sophomore year I took: Spanish 2, AP Environmental Science, AP Human Geography, H English 10, Math Analysis, AP World History, PE, and Photography. This year I am taking Spanish 3, AP US History, AP Calculus AB, AP Psychology, H Physiology, AP English Language, and a calculus supplement class that was mandatory at my school if you take AP Calc AB. Next year I am taking AP Statistics, AP US Government, AP American Literature, AP Art History, and AP Chemistry. I have had straight A's since 9th grade except for 2 B's: one in PE (I know it's embarrassing) and one in Math Analysis (all because of one test :/) I have taken the SAT's only once so far. This year I was too pre-occupied with studying for AP testing, that I winged the SAT's earlier this month. I received a score of 1680. I will be taking the subject tests for US History, Biology (E), and World History next week. For the October SAT's, I will actually study for it and hope to get a score higher than 2000 (my goal). I have been part of Key Club since 9th grade, I am currently vice president (and former secretary) of our school's chapter of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF), and I am also co-president (former treasurer) of Gear-Up, which helps mentor kids about college. I have been involved in student government since sophomore year. I am currently Publicity Commissioner for our school's Junior Class Officers (JCO) and I will be part of the Senior Class Officers (SCO) next year.

Do I have a chance at an Ivy League College?

Thanks for the A2A.A chance? Yes. A good chance? Well, if you aren’t a legacy and aren’t wealthy, you never had a good chance. And it doesn’t matter much. There’s far more myth about the Ivy League than there is truth. The truth is that for students who can’t bring connections or money to the table, the competition is brutally fierce. Academics can keep you out, but they won’t get you in. You need to have shown some exceptional ability beyond just being the best high school student. Outstanding leadership experience (not just being the Student Council president, but actually accomplishing something), outstanding athletics (the Ivy League luuurves bright kids who are also competitive athletes), or something else distinctive is necessary, but even then, it’s often insufficient. If you are taking AP courses as a frosh and are able to score a 3 and a 4, you’re unlikely to end up at a school that is not going to let you rise to your full potential. Students who are on paths to succeed tend to succeed regardless of where they go to college. You can still end up at a school with old, ivy-covered red-brick buildings and tree-filled quads that turn magnificently colorful in the fall, and where the academics are outstanding.I’m not saying don’t work hard and I’m not saying don’t apply to Ivy League schools. I’m saying that if you are worried about not getting into an Ivy League school, that’s not a good sign and absolutely not necessary or warranted by the actual thing that is an Ivy League education.Good luck!
