Chlorine For My 8 Foot Intex Pool

What chemicals do I add to a NEW Intex 10 x 30 pool?

I would really recommend taking a water sample (in a clean glass jar) to a pool supply company in your area for testing and advise. They will have the best insight on how your pool will behave based on the combination of size, water source, and area climate. Buy yourself a test kit while you are there, so you can keep up with ongoing questions about pH and chlorine levels. It would not hurt to bring pictures are the area around the pool from several angles so they can see trees that might create leaf problems and the like.

Do I need chlorine for the intex family lounge pool?

You will need to do something to keep the water pure. Since that kind of pool does not have a filter, or any kind of pump, there is nothing to circulate any kind of chemical treatment for the water.

Your main choice would be to either drain and refill it every few days or to add a small amount of bleach (be sure to purchase the kind intended for swimming pools....not just regular laundry bleach) and then use something to stir the water to help mix it. If you do not change the water, or treat the water, you can end up with bacteria and algae in your pool.

Talk to someone at a pool supply store about a water test kit and how to test your water so you know you will be safe.

How many gallon of water in 8 foot pool?

How long can a pool of water be safely left stagnant?

We also have such a pool; it depends on the size and how long it takes to fill up. If it is small, I'd empty it every two days.If it is large, then you can keep the water all summer. Get a bucket of small-sized chlorine tablets at the local hardware store. I highly recommend this. A backyard pool requires only 1 to 4 tablets every 2 or 3 days, so it is hardly any trouble. (You need to know the size of your pool in gallons or litres.) One bucket should last you all summer; my bucket lasted two years, but we only set up the pool for about two months a year.I use Washing Soda (aka Soda Ash) to increase the pH because we have acid water here. That is also inexpensive and you can usually get it in the Laundry aisle at the grocery store. Some pH test strips complete the kit.As far as the safety of stagnant water goes, the nastiest bug you'll be likely be breeding is fecal coliform bacteria, which can cause what amounts to food poisoning with vomiting and diarrhea.Regarding mosquitoes, the best defense is a pool pump. Mosquito larvae like very still water, so aqitation will disrupt the breeding cycle.

What could I fill my kid's pool with, besides chlorine, to keep the water clean? It is an 8 ft pool and I don't want to change the water each day.

The alternates to chlorine or sodium hypochlorite (bleach) to maintain a pool’s water sanitized and free of bacteria and other infectious organisms are:Ozone: You will need to purchase or rent an Ozone generator, a device to mix and entrain the Ozone throughout the pool and the necessary test kit and reagents. Ozone generators produce Ozone that sanitizes pool water.UV (ultraviolet light): you will need to purchase or rent a UV lamp rated for water sanitation and a pump with the necessary tubing and fittings. UV units work by recirculating pool water through the UV lamp assembly, generally on a constant basis to sanitize and inhibit the formation and growth of bacteria. You will also need a test kit and reagents.Salt: (NaCl) Common table or water softener salt can be used to inhibit growth of bacteria but you will need to treat the initial fill and makeup with either chlorine or sodium hypochlorite to ensure a sanitized pool. If you are using water from a municipal water plant, the water should be adequately treated for makeup.Choline and bleach are the most economical and easiest to treat with as you can smell the choline or bleach.I’m sure that your local pool supply company can help you decide the best method for your pool and guide you in the chemistry. Good Luck

How to make an above ground pool into an indoor pool?

First you need to go in the barn. Dig a hole 6 inch's, deep,&6 inch's larger than the pool. Then a trench, from the far side of the pool to out the door. Drill 1/4 inch holes in pvc pipe,3 inch pipe and put in trench. This is for drainage. once pipe is in cover with pea gravel. The round ones. Then 3 inch's of course sand over that. next fill hole with 2 inch's of sand,Smooth, Lay 3/4 inch fiberglass sheets down. 4x8 ones. Cut to shape of hole. Next 2 inch's of sand, smooth. Hole should now be 1/2 to 1 inch deep. Do not tape fiberglass sheets. This assures dry ground under pool and insulation, from the cool ground. As you will need a pool heater. You might want to wet the sand to assure settling as well. Now put up pool. Fit 3/4 fiberglass sheets around it. Duct tape around pool. Stat filling pool. Next have a strapping tool for good plastic strap. About evey foot as you go up,add a strap over the fiberglass insulation. Your pool is now insulated to hold in heat. This will save you money in the long run. Turn on pumps and heater. Pool is now ready to use. Build deck, Best consider insulation for the pole barn. As it will take a warm building for good swimming. And you do not have the sun to help out. But insulating it from ground chill will help a lot. Even on a outdoor pool Do not pull the strapping tight As the water will expand the pool. And make it cut into the insulation. 3 people could hold it. And you would only need to clamp it..

Can you put bleach in an above ground pool instead of chlorine?

You can use bleach in your pool safely instead of, or in addition to pool chlorine. Many people are advocates of bleach for pools. Most pool chlorine contains a "stabilizer" which acts to prevent sunlight from breaking down the chlorine. In time the amount of stabilizer reaches a level that precipitates the use of ever increasing amounts of chlorine. Adding swimming pool chlorine increases the chlorine level but also increases the stabilizer level, which at a point you no longer want or need. Adding bleach (or non stabilized chlorine) at this point is exactly what you want to do.
Mix up your plain (non scented) chlorine in a 5 gallon bucket and pour it in your pool, making sure to keep it away from the pool walls. Your liner, equipment and children will be perfectly safe and will not know the difference.
Bleach is commonly sold in 5.75-6.0% strengths. This is what you want, not the cheaper 3.00%. Read the label it should be listed.

Why would my inground pool lose a ton of water overnight?

Most likely it sounds like your liner has a leak, than again it could also be in the plumbing lines. But lets start with the vinyl, fill your pool completely with water and mark your liner with a black magic marker where the full mark will be. Do not start your pump. We do not want the water circulating thru the plumbing lines yet. Let water stand for 24 hours and check the full mark that you made on the vinyl. Did it go down, if so mark again with your marker and let it sit again for another 24 hours. If it did not go down after 24 hours than your leak is in the pipes to your pump. If it did go down again, you will continue to mark the water until it does not go down. Once it stops going down than you check the liner from level of water to the mark up above all the way around until you find the tear on the vinyl and repair. I forgot to mention, you must place a towel real tight in the skimmer box drain openning to stop the water from entering the pipe to the pump. If the leak is in your pipe it will require possibly some digging and a plumber. Good Luck!

What would happen if lightning strikes a swimming pool that you are in?

What happens if you're in a swimming pool in his lightning strikes?I think I have answered questions similar to this several times. However, this is a danger you don’t want to expose yourself. You don’t say where the strike is. You should have gotten out long before lightning strikes. It is very possible it could strike a nearby tree, in which case you would be OK except for the brown stain in your pants. If there is no tree near, it might strike a stair rail. If the rail is grounded properly you may live to tell about it, but once again the brown stain. If there is no stair railing, your head is the next target, which if struck, most likely will kill you. If somehow you live through it you will never be the same. Maybe you put your hand over your head like a lightning rod, in which case it would probably blow your arm off and likely kill you. If not you will still never be the same. Maybe a vegetable. Maybe you could do useful work, maybe not. If you happen to dive under so you don’t get a direct strike, lots of power will still course through your body. Results are unpredictable; anywear from death if it is close to you, to not so much if it happens to be on the opposite end of the pool.
