Clothing Advice Help

Freshman year (high school) clothing advice?

I don't know what styles are popular at your school, but if its anything like mine, do NOT buy lots of Abercrombie/Hollister type clothes. Or Aeropostale, cause they're little kid-ish and you'll grow out of the style. American Eagle is sometimes good; they have pretty decent jeans and usually some cool tops. If I was you I'd go to H&M and get some basic things like tank tops, t shirts, and sweaters there because its pretty cheap. Then Id go to places like Forever 21, AE and maybe Aerie and get some more interesting things like jackets and cool sweaters for layering on top of tanks and stuff. Forever 21 has lots of variety and different textures and stuff. It can be kind of hard to sort through everything but they have a million styles so you'll find something. Levis is obviously good for jeans as is AE. Sometimes GAP too. I like to get a lot of different styles of pants, like I have some brown skinny cords from Levis that have gone with lotsof different outfits! And then I also have the typical blue jeans, some white and a pair of gray. A good mix of colors and cuts like bootcut/skinny is good. ALSO get a pair of black leggings and a long pullover sweater (maybe red, tan, etc) to wear with your boots. I love that look because you can choose any type of sweater or boots to make it look edgy or preppy or really girly- anything works!
Im not familiar with any of those Canadian stores so I can't really help you there but you could look for the same kinds of things I mentioned at those stores too

Need clothing advice! Please HELP!!!?

OK-so I start a new job tomorrow. It is at a sand and gravel company. My style has always been an professional look. Helping female inmates adjust to a clothing-restricted unit...advice?

Ok, I have some experience of being on the receiving end of this. I don't like to think that someone could love this system based on something like cost savings. It is a brutal and demeaning process. Mine was not a suicide watch, where I can understand the need to take clothing. I was in ad-seg twice like this and I couldn't stand it. My head was screaming. I always thought that it was no wonder people acted out when treated with the lack of respect that I was. Yes, I caused trouble myself and deserved to go to seg but solitary is bad enough without losing all your clothes as well.
Given your request it does seems you have some humanitarian interest. I know that each institution has strict rules as to how this environment operates, but I would ask you to please remember that these are people too. They are people's daughters and wives.

Two suggestions though. One make sure your colleagues don't taunt the inmate. Two I could never understand why basic clothing - tee-shirt and panties for example - could not be allowed. Even that would have been a fair balance. Hope that helps.

Advice on layering clothes?

Do's:
-Wear a tank top under any low cut shirts
-Wear a specifically long tanktop under a shorter shirt

Dont's:
-Wear tanktops over long or short sleeve shirts
-layer 2 different tops that are the same color

Clothing advice for a transvestite/crossdresser?

Hi! I'm a 20 year old male, 5'7", and in the 160-170 lbs weight range, and I unfortunately have a bit of a... belly. I would like to begin crossdressing full-time... or at the very least in private. I'm not really sure what kinds of junior's or women's clothing would best fit my size and shape. I don't want to look like a "trashy transvestite" or a drag queen... My goal is to look "cute" or "feminine." I haven't done much crossdressing before; it's mostly been limited to dressing in my sisters' clothes when I'm home alone. Sooo... What fashion and beauty advice do you have for me? <3

Advice to keep fresh tattoo from sticking to clothing....?

I have been working on a right arm sleeve for the last two years or so and I have my final appointment this Friday, a touchup and to hammer out a few small pieces that he hasn't done yet.

I did a japanese sleeve and I have one issue that happened last time I was in and will be redone this week but I want to avoid it from happening again.

Basically, around my shoulder blade/top of shoulder area where the sleeve ends, I have a bunch of clouds/windbars (black/grey).

Anyway last time they were done, they looked good but in the initial healing stages, it seemed to catch onto my T-Shirt and would slowly pull the scab off in a small section and you can clearly see where that happened now that its fully healed. Like I said, I am getting it redone Friday so I'd like to learn from that and make that not happen again.

Clearly I can't walk around shirtless all day for two weeks and I am fully aware that covering the tattoo the whole time while wearing clothing during its healing stage is a big no-no because you don't wanna suffocate the tattoo or it won't heal properly. I got all that.

So that is why I am here...just lookin for some advice on what to do so that it doesn't catch on clothing anymore. I take very good care of my work after its been done to include cleaning it regularly and after the first few days, applying Tattoo Goo a few times daily.

Thanks for all the help!!!

Fashion advice for skinny teen?

Polo shirts can make you look bigger all around and take the focus off your arms. Light colors also make you look bigger, so stay away from black. You could wear boleros, long sleeved shirts or even arm warmers(like Babylegs) to help. And getting a tan makes you appear bigger, don't ask me how, but it just does. I would wear bootcut jeans to take the focus off your arms and to add some curves. Stay away from skinny jeans, they'll draw attention to your overall skinny size. Hope that helps!

Where do men go for fashion advice?

The top forums for men’s style advice are Style Forumhttp://www.styleforum.net/Get’s the most traffic, and has the loosest rules for posting, but Style Forum is still an amazing resource where some of the internet’s best style advice can be found.  They cover the entire range, from denim to bespoke suits to what are the coolest bags to carry into the gym. I would guess the age amongst posters here is 20+, with a median of 25Ask Andy About Clotheshttp://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/More formal and more tightly controlled than style forum, AAAC is home to a more refines style crowd.  The questions here gravitate toward suits, sport jackets, and Aldens.  I would guess the age amongst posters here is 30+, with a median of 40.The forums are great for finding information IF you have a foundation in style.  If you have no idea what the terms bespoke, upper, and pick-stitching mean you may get burned by anonymous posters looking to display their superior sartorial intellect or worse given very solid sounding but completely wrong advice.  Authority is established by the number of posts and longevity, which means you often have the blind leading the blind.Another issue with the style forums are threads that expand out to dozens of pages; how can a person who values their time make their way through all this?  I guess this is why sites like Quora are so useful.FYI, I created a couple of sites that provide solid advice written by menswear experts to help alleviate these very problems I mentioned above.A Tailored Suit’s Style Guidehttp://www.atailoredsuit.com/men...Real Men Real Stylehttp://www.realmenrealstyle.com/My friend Brett McKay has an amazing men’s style section.  I know, because I spend hours helping him do research for them:) Art of Manliness Style Sectionhttp://artofmanliness.com/catego...

What are the best tips for clothes shopping?

Begin with a small core of high-quality, versatile pieces that fit you really well, will last a long time, and can be combined in a variety of ways. Gradually build on that core. Don’t buy pieces you don’t love. Don’t buy pieces that don’t fit. Don’t buy anything without knowing exactly what it works with in your wardrobe. Don’t over-buy in general. Keep your closet edited, streamlined and well-organized so you can get dressed with a minimum of thought and always look pulled together. It helps to choose just one favorite neutral color and build your wardrobe around that. Black is definitely easiest but espresso brown and charcoal gray are also good neutrals. Navy blue is more difficult to match.

My parents never buy me clothes or help me to buy them (please read, need advice)?

Every time my parents suggest something they mention a really cheap store for me to shop at. My younger brothers always get Macy's clothing and such while they buy me nothing off some reason. They never buy me anything! I'm the girl and the oldest. Even when I was younger they would buy my brother the best clothing like from Macy's while I would get department store clothing.

My brother is even in college and he gets a new thing about every two months just about. It's extremely unfair and he gets nice clothing, it's definitely not c*** clothing. Also my mom sometimes says usually girls are obsessed with jewelry more than clothes. Which is my true. I believe most girls are obsessed with clothing. I only have 5 blouses and 1 pair of jeans while each of my brother has 30 tops a piece. I have 4 skirts but they only go with one blouse of mine.

I don't even know where to shop. Also my parents are always saying how I wear the same things a lot. But I have no money when I get my part time checks they go on other things I need at the time. Last time I actually managed to buy one blouse for myself. Now I'm looking for new work so it's even harder. They say I wear the same things but they never help me!!! They make fun of me but don't help me, that makes a whole lot of sense!

What can I do about this unfair treatment and actually getting "nice" clothing for a change?
