I did this for my mother’s 80th birthday, many years ago.My parents lived in London and I was living in Houston, Texas at the time. I explained to my mother that I couldn’t come to London for her birthday celebration dinner as my schedule was absolutely chock a block and that it was just too long a journey (11 hour flight each way) for only one night.Secretly, I told my family to include me in the plans for that evening and I went ahead and booked my flight. I flew overnight on the Friday, arriving at Heathrow early on the Saturday morning. I stayed with my cousin during the day and then travelled to North London to my parents’ home aiming to arrive at about 7.00pm.I had told my mother that a special package would be arriving for her by 7.00pm and to make sure that she stayed in to receive it. Throughout the day, I rang a number of times to check if the package had arrived- of course, she said no- as I was the ‘package’! I was worried that she would be suspicious about me ringing so many times (especially with the time difference), but the excitement of the day seemed to save me from answering too many difficult questions from her.My father let me in to the house whilst my mother was upstairs finishing getting ready. Daddy called Mummy to come downstairs as I was on the ‘phone (again!). I was, indeed, on the ‘phone as I was calling from the sitting room.Mummy’s first words were “The package hasn’t arrived darling and we must go out now, as the car is here” I interrupted her by saying how lovely she looked - she immediately said thank you and after a moment said “How do you know what I look like?” I answered- “Because I’n standing right behind you!”My mother literally jumped (very high for an 80 year old!) for joy and there’s was much laughter, hugging, kissing and many tears!We had a wonderful evening with all of the family and whilst I had to get up ridiculously early to fly home the next day, it is a memory that I will cherish for ever.My mother died not long afterwards, and to know that I was with her for that very special celebration is priceless.

(Snow White's Wishing Well) ETC. You would have to try and make sure it was something that she would recognize though and that in the end would obviously lead to Disneyland.

i also got my bf a cell phone. although he thinks he knows i got it, he is not sure. so what i plan on doin is actually hanging it in the tree, like a ornament or something. closer to the inside of the middle of the tree. let him open up the other gifts i got him, so he will see he didnt get the phone, then wait about 2 hours, and call it. he will notice the ringing is comeing from the tree, and he will find it there. it is going to be good lol

It happened 4 days ago. I hadn't seen my guy for 2 months as we had our vacations after the end of a year of engineering (I see many engineering love birds here !). He lives in Andhra Pradesh and I in Delhi. I was literally counting days to go back to college and see him. I used to ask him to come soon everyday. He told me that he would be right here on 5th August. Now, my cousin came to my place for few days. We planned to go for a movie that day (4 days back). My guy texted me and asked if I could pick a packet for him from Rajiv Chowk metro station from a friend of his. I agreed. And though he was talking about some packet all the time I got an intuition that maybe he has come back to Delhi and is thinking of giving me a surprise. I took my cousin along with hopes of seeing him after so long. The moment we reached the station, he texted me that his friend couldn't come. I was bursting with anger but still tried to keep myself calm and texted him back "Its okay. Dont be sorry". I cursed myself for thinking of him coming back. Heartbroken. With a heavy heart we went back to the mall close to my home. We sat down at McDonald's just to pass time till the movie begins. While my cousin was busy stuffing the food I was talking to my guy. He was constantly asking me questions abt my location, so I started thinking that maybe he has come. Wishful thinking you know ! After half and hour of throwing questions on me he said "Ji ! Come outside na. Hug me. I will fly and come from Andhra". I thought he was kidding because I kept telling him jokingly to fly and come to me. So I ignored. He said again "Bahar aa jao na ji". This time I had my heart pounding. I went outside and saw him standing there. Right in front of my eyes after 2 months! I rushed to him and instead of hugging him punched him on his shoulder. He was all smiles. I was all blushes.And that was till now the only and the best surprise I can think of. :)
