College Transcript To Be Promoted

In the US Army, where should I turn in my college transcript after AIT?

Once you are already enlisted your college transcripts will not help with promotion until you are either eligible for SGT/E5 or if you have a Baccalaureate Degree and want to commission, in which case you should have entered service as a SPC/E4.Once you are eligible for promotion to SGT/E5 your college credits willbe worth promotion points. In order for those college credits to be valid towards promotion points you need to add them to your ERB. You can have them added at anytime after you are in service by going through your S1 or personnel section. Just ask your first line supervisor who should be able to assist you.If you have a Baccalaureate Degree and want to commission, your path will depend on several factors. Either a direct commission into a specific field if you have a qualifying degree specialty such as Medical or Law, or an OCS packet if you have any other degree type. You can reference further information about commissioning here: How to Become an Army Officer. If you had enough college credit for advanced promotion at time of enlistment then your promotion should have been applied before shipping out to Basic Combat Training. To qualify for advanced rank upon time of enlistment you would need either 24 SH for PV2/E2, 48 SH or an AA Degree for PFC/E3, or a BA for SPC/E4. If you qualified for advanced promotion but did not give your official college transcripts to your recruiter before shipping or your recruiter did not apply the promotion, then I am not sure it is possible to have the promotion applied later. You would have to do some research to figure that out.

Why does MEPS need my college transcripts?

Ok, So i Enlisted in the Marine Corps 4 months ago. I ship on feb 10th.
I went to a college for like 3/4 of a semester and withdrawed due to personal reasons. I didnt get any credit and i still owe the school around $1500.
Today my recruiter told me i need my college transcript before i can ship to RT.

My question is why do they need it? i dont have enough credits to get a promotion (0) and i cant even get my transcripts because i owe money. Does meps really need them if i know i will be going in as an E-1? Will they DQ me if i dont have anything? And will they accept like an unofficial one from my school proving that I did go there and didnt get any credit?

All help is appreciated. Im really scared over this.

College lost my transcripts! Can I sue?!?

Long story short: I graduated from a Culinary Arts course in 2000. It was a 2 year program and it had cost $40,000. I am now joining the Army as a cook and with having taken the Culinary Arts program already, I can by pass the Army training (which is 8 weeks long) - not only that, I would get HALF my tuition back (which would be 20 grand), PLUS, I would be able to be promoted sooner which would mean I could be making 50 grand a year within a year, as opposed to waiting 4-5 years to make that amount.
PROBLEM IS - they need my transcripts from the Culinary Arts course. I called the College and they CAN'T FIND THEM! I STILL have my diploma, but the Army needs a copy of the transcripts to ensure it meets the same criteria of what they teach.

Any suggestions? Could I sue the College for all this money I would be out - not to mention how long this is delaying my application process!

How many college units are needed to be promoted to E2?

24 credits or 36 quarter units.

Here are all the options to choose from if you want to start as E2 in the Army:

Advanced Paygrade of E-2 (PV2) is authorized for an applicant who:

Has completed 1 or 2 years of Junior ROTC (JROTC) or a National Defense Cadet Corps (NDCC) Program.

Has attended any U.S. military service academy or U.S. military academy preparatory school for 179 days or fewer (or at grade determined by amount of college credit completed, whichever is greater).

Has successfully completed 24 or more classroom semester hours (36 or more quarter hours) at an accredited degree granting college or university listed in the AIPE* or NACES* (foreign transcripts must be evaluated).

Has completed all phase II requirements of the Air Force Civil Air Patrol and has been awarded the Billy Mitchell Award.

Has taken part in the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) and has been awarded Quartermaster Award (Certificate).

Has been awarded the Boy Scout Eagle certificate as a member of the Boy Scouts of America (Form 58-708).

Has earned the Girl Scout Gold award certificate as a member of the Girl Scouts of America.

Has completed Army pre-Basic Training task list as a member of Delayed Enlistment Program (DEP) or Delayed Training Program (DTP). Note: If member is already entitled to advanced grade of E-2, completion of the task list entitles the member for advancement to the paygrade of E-3.

How can I get promoted before basic training?

Your options are kind of limited, assuming you will be at Basic in a short while. Here are the ways that I remember for getting promoted quickly.Education. A few college credits can help.Leading. Volunteer to become a squad or platoon leader if you have the chance. Do a good job get promoted by the end of Basic.Have it in your contract. Oops! Too late. MAYBE. You will be sworn in and given one more chance to quit when you arrive for your final induction. Try negotiating with the recruiter. There may be a way to trade up if they need, for example an airborne 25B. I’m sure 18th Airborne Corps needs 25B’s.Be exemplary in Basic. Become the honor graduate. Be a good teammate, and be known for it. Never hesitate to help a teammate. Do the best you can to max PT tests. If you have your soldier’s manual (maybe you can download it), study your common tasks such as first aid, MOPP gear and symptoms (a handy way to memorize is to start at the head and work your way down - sudden severe headache, difficulty seeing, etc.) , various movement to contact techniques and when to use them, etc. You will be tested on this stuff. Be a first time go on everything. If you have access to an AR-15 style rifle, you can practice the washer techniques for steady trigger pulls. If you can practice 400m shooting all the better. Firing expert will help. Remember you will need to be able to quickly shift your weapon among different targets at different ranges. Memorize the Soldier’s Creed and General Orders.Once you are in, focus on being good, on not needing to be told what to do. In other words be proactive. Be the solution. You will be recognized for this and be advanced quickly. Volunteer for PLDC as soon as you can. Keep studying so that you can acquire more college credits, including correspondence courses (I assume that’s been superseded by on-line courses now). Your biggest challenge will be (if you are a sharp soldier) gaining enough promotion points to become a Sergeant or Staff Sergeant.I entered as an E-1, and I was promoted to the next grade as soon as I was eligible each time. Just because I wasn’t a shit-bird.

My recruiter wants my college transcripts but I kinda have bad grades?

I told my recruiter about my education and I told him I had 76 college credits and he was so surprised and he wanted me to order transcripts so he can see?

Anyways I don't have good grades, I got an D in Multivariable Calculus, C in Human Physiology, D in Organic Chemistry 2, D in Psychical Anthropology, C in Calculus based Physics 2, and I failed Linear Algebra... <-- those are the worst, the rest are all A's and B's

Why is my recruiter so eager for my transcripts? Why are they so important? Will these grades make me look bad, stupid and hinder my chances of joining the Air Force? I don't understand why it would, I mean I'm pretty sure about more than half of the Air Force enlisted personell don't even qualify, or meet the prerequisites that are needed to take these freakin' difficult classes that I can't seem to do well in, but at least I do.

How many college credits are required for Pfc rank in the Marine corps?

Wow, there are a lot of people answering that have no clue what they are talking about. When I joined the Marine Corps it was 12 credit hours to be promoted to PFC upon graduation of boot camp.

During training, everyone is a Recruit. Try getting a letter addressed to Private Your Name and see what happens. You aren't a Private at that point. Privates have demonstrated that they can graduate boot camp.

Being a PFC really only puts you a few months ahead of the Privates, as they will be promoted soon after they graduate. In the Corps, being a PFC is essentially the same as being a Private. You will be treated like a Private. You really only start to see a big difference in treatment when you become a Corporal.

My advice to you is to hound your recruiter about getting E-2 in your contract. Your recruiter just thinks of you as another number, and you will probably never see him or her again. Make sure it is taken care of before you leave. Your recruiter is not going to do it on his own.

Can I confirm that upon college graduation my promotion from E3 to E4 in the Army is automatic?

NOPE. not true. you have to have the degree first! if you enlist tomorrow as an E-1, then get your degree, you will remain an E-1 until you go up for promotion.

ask your recruiter to "put it in writing". bet his story changes a little bit and the 'guarantee' b ecomes one of, "well, guarantee IF you qualify, or IF certain conditions are met" - or some other 'disclaimer' is added to his sales pitch.

as with everything else in life, the devil is in the details!
