Compound Bow In Backyard

Can i shoot a bow in my backyard...?

As long as you're in a safe place to shoot (nothing behind your target that can be damaged, arrow never leaves your property, etc). You should be fine unless there is a local ordinance where you are that prohibits it. A quick call to your town hall, mayors office, or police station will be able to tell you for sure.

Can you shoot a compound bow in your backyard?

Yes and No. You can shoot your bow in your backyard if it has a low poundage around 40Lbs if you live in the city limits or you can shoot any kind of poundage if live in the country, but I would strongly advise you not to because if you miss your target a few things can happen.
1.your arrow might get stuck in the wood or back stop and end up breaking it.
2. may destroy your fence.
3. if you sky fire or go through the fence you may end up destroying, damaging, or even hurting someone or their pets.
In the end if you feel confident you won't do any harm you should go for it.

Good compound bow for 15 year old?

I'm 15, 5' tall, with an arm span of 55". I'm decently strong. I'm looking for a good beginners bow to get into a casual interest in archery. Nothing competitive, but some shooting in the back yard on the weekends. I am interested in a compound bow, but is that the right place to start? Can I get some recommendations of good bows for my height? I'm looking for something around/under $200. Preferably less, but please let me know if I should be investing more for a good beginners bow! I want to get decent but reasonably priced equiptment. Plus, what accesories should I replace on my bow? I hear a lot of the parts are cheap and you need to buy higher quality parts?!?! Also what arrows should I use? What targets? ANY advice for a beginner archer! Should I even try the sport?!?! Thanks so much!

I just got a compound bow. How can I use it safely in my backyard without a fence or backstop?

It depends on what is behind whatever you use as a target. If it's an empty field 100m across or a side of a massive hill that you have full overview of or something like that, then maybe you could.Otherwise chances are you can't.I am shooting for a while now and normally don't go outside the 8 ring, but even then: your d-loop could fail. Your release aid could fail or you could activate it by accident. Or you could hook it in wrongly. Or you could forget to adjust your sight between distances. In all of these situations you'd shoot beyond your target. Even if you're reeeeeeally careful. In any case, finding a club or a range with people who can advise and help is by far the best option. Good luck!

Is it illegal to shoot a bow in your backyard in idaho?

safety first, if he stuck somebody he would be going to jail. Technically if your shooting range cannot stop a bad arrow whatever is down range should not be occupied by anything you don't want shot. That will be the local police departments position on whether you can shoot a bow in your own back yard.

Can you shoot your bow in your backyard if you live in town?

It depends on how your town's ordinance prohibiting discharging a "gun" defines the term "gun" for the purposes of the ordinance. I've heard of towns only prohibiting people shooting firearms. I've heard of towns prohibiting firearms and airguns. And I've heard of towns prohibiting firearms, airguns, archery equipment, and any other device that fires a projectile by burning chemical propellants, compressed air, or mechanical means...

My suggestion would be that you call your local police department on their non-emergency number and ask them. They'll know the wording of the local ordinance and be able to tell you whether or not you can legally shoot a bow in town.

Regardless of what the police tell you, I think this is a bad idea... Shooting in a built-up, residential area is inherently risky. It would be safer to go to an archery range. And it will avoid problems with the neighbors that shooting in the backyard risks.

Is it legal to shoot a bow in your backyard in Canada?

Bows aren't firearms. as long as you have a good backstop and neighbours that mind their own business, you should be fine. I fire rifles in my back yard, but my backyard is 1/2 Mile by 1/2 Mile. No ATT needed for my pistols!

Can an American bring a compound bow to India?

My friend brought a compound bow in the country (India) except that he could prove he is an archer. I think, as an American, you could bring in a compound bow as long as you have an invite from an archery association in India that you are here for a competition/coaching assignment …it would be best to consult an archer based in India …Edit I - I checked with a friend. Compund bows can be carried to India. They are not in the prohibited list. He advised against carrying arrows in the same bag. Perhaps you could ship them separately.

Can I legally fire a bow and arrow in my backyard? I live in the Wide Bay Area, Queensland, Australia.

Depends on you backyard. On acreage, fine, on a small yard, bit of a problem. You must be careful.I had a target, with a thin wood back, and the arrows went straight through. It’s not a matter of legality, but of common sense.Don’t use plastic plant pots. I did. I shot an arrow at one. It went straight through, and then rebounded 20 meters away. I was using a low poundage compound. Also, I was shooting at a foam target about 10 cm thick, hard foam, that is,went through and INTO the tree that was behind, a large eucalyptus.
