What is the monthly cost of living in Japan?

I had travelled to Japan, specifically Nagoya for 2 weeks on a business trip, though rupee value is more than yen the cost of living is high over there. I would give you the following examples, which would take major chunk of your money.Stay is costly, roughly around 5000 yen per day in a hotel. This is anyhow covered for you.Food: You would need a minimum of 1000yen per meal, and this is just to fill your stomach with something. If you would like to order some non veg, then it would cost you around 2000yen per person. Even 1kg banana would cost roughly around 300yenTravel: Japan is well connected via trains, both between cities and within city. The frequency of local trains to travel within city is really good, every 5mins you would find a train at a station. The minimum train fare was about 200yen for 1 stop travel, and as no of stops increase the fare would increase. I had travelled in Sep 2016, the bus fare from airport to city was about 1440yen. Taxi fares are costly, for a 5km ride, you would be charged roughly around 1500–2000 yen.

What is the current cost for living in Japan for a year?

Short answer (see below): ¥200,000 per month.Long answer: You never have enough if you get too deep into the gaijin lifestyle. In Bonfire of the Vanities, Tom Wolfe neatly caught the dilemma of being a well-paid professional in NYC (but it might as well have been London or Tokyo). Namely no matter how big your bonus and salary may be, you are always a little behind, as your lifestyle inflates to what you think you are worth. For a time my family and I lived in Hiroo, the central “embassy” district and our luxo-condo had a garage full of European cars, nary a Toyota among them. My neighbors were either expats like me, or old money Japanese. The creator of the Ultraman characters, Tsuburaya-san, lived in our building. But the day I left my cushy Wall Street banking job, that lifestyle proved way too expensive and fairly soon I decided to downsize and move to the suburbs, sell the Porsche and the BMW Funduro and get a good road bike instead. I have since done about a dozen triathlons and enjoy life in the western suburbs far more than the faux luxe of Hiroo. But I know foreign bankers who lived that “5BR with maid’s room, 3 kids at ACCJ or Sacred Heart” who suddenly had the rug pulled out when banks like Lehman Bros and Bear, Stearns collapsed in 2008 and eventually had to return home, to a suddenly chastened Indiana or Illinois lifestyle. Sic transit gloria mundi - but no-one shed a tear for them/us.More realistically, our little suburb of Nishi Ogikubo has singles apartments for say ¥85,000/month. Utilities (gas, electric, water, wifi, NHK) will set you back say ¥30,000/month. Food and beverage - 2 cans of beer/highball etc. perhaps ¥60,000/month. Social welfare taxes ¥15,000. These are just broad guesstimates. Let’s include phone in utilities, and assume job pays the commute. Other travel, entertainment, bar-crawling can quickly add up, let’s just say ¥10,000/month. That ballparks to ¥200,000 per month. Doable? Sure. DINKS can spend say 35% more for two and put money into the bank. Kids - better start saving now.

What is the cost of living in Japan? Is it easy to find a Job as an English speaker and not be fluent?

Working visa for Japan is 1 or 3 years. There is no visa for 6 months.

As a tourist, you can stay in Japan up to 90 days without a visa if you are from certain countries. If you are not, you must apply for a visa to stay in Japan even for 1 day.

So the only choice for you is working holiday visa if you want to stay in Japan for 6 months. But it's possible if you are from one of countries Japan has WH agreement.

Japanese population is declining. It's declining more rapidly in local towns like Nemuro. So you can't expect much job opportunities in a place where population is decreasing.

>What job opportunists are available for some one who know minimal Japanese?

You must have a college degree to get working visa of Japan. If you don't, you can't work in Japan. And if you are a native speaker of English, you may get a job of English teacher. Otherwise, very few.

Monthly cost to live in japan.?

so since im going to graduate soon and im thinking about studying in japan for university, im just questioning how much does it cost to live there? i mean, for just the bills (ie. electricity, water, etc)? for a typical 1 room apartment with living room & kitchen (no need for a dining room).
it doesnt have to be IN tokyo but maybe JUST outside or something like that, im not interesting in living in a TOO suburb place.
and how much should the rent also cost?
another question, how many jobs (like labour) can you do to support yourself living in japan, because 800 yen an hour wont do!

Whats the average living cost in chiba, japan?

Hello! I live in Chiba! Cost of living is much cheaper than Tokyo, that`s for sure! I have a family (daughter and husband) and our rent is around 90,000 yen (3K apartment 7 minutes walk from 2 different stations on a very busy train line). Food, gas, car (parking, gasoline and insurance), phone, train (for work) electricity, satelite TV, internet, health insurance (national health insurance), city tax all depends...for us around 250,000 plus rent. so about 350,000 covers us. If you are single and live out further from Tokyo, expenses dramtically decrease but you would need a car to get around as train lines can be few and far between. At least the parking isn`t too expensive out there!
