Could I Get Arrested For Wearing A Guy Fawkes Mask For Halloween

Is it racist to wear a kimono for Halloween or parties if you're not asian?

Is it racist to wear a kimono for Halloween or parties if you're not asian? As I said in Murphy Barrett's answer to Is it racist for a white person to wear a kimono? No.It’s not racist for:White people to wear kimonoBlack people to wear kiltsAnybody to wear dreadlocksAsians to eat cajun barbequeblah blah blah, etc., etc.You know what’s racist? Insisting that only one race is allowed to do something, or that people have to stay in narrow little lanes as defined by their race/culture of origin.

Is it illegal to wear a Guy Fawkes mask in public or protest?

No. Barring some anti-mask laws in certain areas, wearing a Guy Fawkes mask in the United States will not get you in trouble. During the time my (extensive) background check was completed, and I was sworn in as a peace officer, I had a polaroid of myself in a Guy Fawkes mask up on Facebook the whole time.Part of the reason is that the Guy Fawkes mask does not carry a specific meaning, at least in terms of the way that something like a Hells Angels jacket does. While they might occasionally be compared with one another for their outlawish antics, Anonymous is not a “group” or a “gang” in the way the Hells Angels* is. For the same reasons, wearing that mask is not the equivalent of wearing, say, the highly symbolic and exclusive Hells Angels jacket. In other words, part of the reason boils down to access.Think of it this way - just because the Westboro Baptist Church pickets the funerals of Sandy Hook victims in the “name of God” does not mean that someone’s cross necklace means they support mass shootings. (In fact, Anonymous recognized this, and hacked the Westboro Baptist Church partly for that reason.)Because of these factors, you might see someone in a Guy Fawkes mask for a number of reasons: To signify that they are a “participating” and “active” member of Anonymous, to signify they support certain causes that Anonymous supports (which range from prosecuting rapists to keeping a pool closed)……or simply because the Dollar Tree was selling “V for Vendetta” masks, and they seemed kind of funny to take selfies with. The conclusion to be made? I think most people will recognize these factors on social media, especially if they are in tech. However, in light of the few who won’t, I might caution before putting it on sites such as LinkedIn specifically.*Fun fact: “Hells Angels” is correctly spelled, and not a typo. If spelled with an apostrophe by a “member,” it’s therefore a sure way to tell that person is lying about being one.

Why do protesters always wear Guy Fawkes masks?

The easiest way to answer that question is with a quote, "Behind this mask is an idea, and ideas are bulletproof." -VUltimately, the mask signifies rebellion and the refusal to be oppressed. It originated with Guy Fawkes and The Gunpowder Plot. Oppression of Catholics in Great Brirain created tension between the elite and the Catholic citizens. Fawkes and others plotted to blow up the House of Lords, to remind the people that justice and equality are more than words, but ideals that must be maintained. The plot failed, and all those involved were executed. Why do people wear the mask? In the simplest of terms, they are embracing the mindset of a failed revolutionary leader with good ideals.

Is wearing a mask in public illegal?

it depends on it depends on the type of mask where you are while you're wearing it and many other things it depends on the type of mask where you are why you're wearing it and many other thing what people referred to as a thief mask where I live is called a ski mask because people needed to protect their face from the snow well skiing but if you were it into a bank you're going to be asked by the security guard that his arm to take it off before you get in the door all the way or if you go to one of the pharmacies that has armed security you also be ask will ask is a light word you will be told to remove it prior to coming into the pharmacy so it all depends on why you're wearing it where you're wearing it and even what day it is because if it's Halloween and you're eight they kind of expected but if you're boarding and it's a random Tuesday and it's not snowing white-out blizzard conditions that require you to wear such face protection then you're going to be asked to take it off if not told to take it off and in some states and jurisdictions it is illegal to wear.

Should a Christian celebrate Halloween? If so, to what degree?

I listen to Christian radio, and of course that topic is all the buzz right now. Should Christians avoid the holiday altogether because of its pagan roots? Or is a little bit of celebration, such as trick-or-treating, ok? Are costumes ok as long as they're not witches or devils or things like that?

And what about "Harvest Parties" or "Hallelujah Parties"? Is that just a compromise? Is that just trying to put a pretty coat of whitewash on a tomb full of death? (To paraphrase Jesus a bit.)

And finally, I heard one woman saying that the info we hear is false, and that there is no record of the ancient Druids doing human sacrifices and celebrating Samhein (I think that's the proper name). Could she be right? Could all of the "Halloween is the devil's holiday" just be a bunch of sensationalized stories to keep little Christian kids off of candy?

So, what do you think? I'm interested in hearing from everyone, Christian and non-Christian. And yes, before anyone points them out, I am aware of the pagan roots/coincidences associated with Christmas and Easter. Let's stay focused on Halloween since it is the holiday at hand.

Is it illegal to go into a bank wearing a mask?

Unless you are a moslem woman, it is.

What does Guy Fawkes mask symbolize?

When a government gets carried away and loses sight of the main goal: strive to get as much happiness and prosperity for your citizens. It is time to act. A government isn't entitled to do as it pleases. It should listen to the people. When your citizens are afraid of the government it is time to remove the government and replace them with a government that has the above ideas at their core. Guy Fawkes tried to blow up parliament in and effort to remove the government. The government that was in his eyes a bad government. It shows that one man can make a difference in a country. The mask is mostly used to stay anonymous in fear of arrest without a fair trail. And also to show that what the government is doing is unacceptable. You should really watch the movie "V for Vendetta". Its a modern adaptation of the Guy Fawkes story.

Do I have a legal right to walk into a store or public area wearing a ski mask?

General reality:Regardless of legality and rights, obscuring your face in public for non-weather reasons is going to generate a rather predictable result -- getting arrested on the idea of prevention of a possible crime.I mean, walking into (say) a bank with a face mask on to open a bank account is probably the polar opposite of how that particular task should be done correctly. The security people (and the authorities) are going to make sure the person also finds the antic unfunny.Legalities:In the UK, I may not be up to date anymore but I can't recall seeing an anti-mask statute. However, the authorities take a dim view of wearing balaclavas in public not for weather-related reasons. IRA members in past times were known for wearing face masks in every situation. In 2008, police in Kent confiscated the War on Terror boardgame partly because it contains a balaclava by reason that it could be used to conceal identity in the course of a criminal act.More usually, the authorities wouldn't arrest anyone solely for wearing masks but simply order the wearer to take it off. However, the authorities would enforce anti-mask measures in areas during riot situations. In 2011, the authorities either implemented temporary policies or exercised common-law powers against wearing of face masks by anti-austerity protestors.France does have a national anti-mask Act (Projet de loi interdisant la dissimulation du visage dans l'espace public, no. 524), enacted in 2010. In 2012, Marseilles police arrested some balaclava-wearing fans of Pussy Riot for breach of this ban on public face covering. In Hong Kong (where I now live), we have no anti-mask statutes. It doesn't matter anyway since our Police Ordinance provides the police with all the powers they needed to stop a mask wearer in public, have him produce his identity card, and then arrest the wearer for probable cause. Probable cause for what? The magistrates court will sort it out, my old son -- using plenty of English common-law principles. In the USA, I gathered most states have anti-mask laws, but no law that makes a ski mask illegal. I gathered these anti-mask-wearing laws date back to old times, presumably with the Ku Klux Klan in mind. For example, North Carolina has a statewide ban on anyone wearing face masks in public property (North Caroline General Statutes, Chapter 14: Criminal Law, Article 4A (Prohibited Secret Societies and Activities), section 14-12.14).
