Could I Take Criminal Justice In 11th Grade

What qualifications do i need to become a criminal lawyer?

First you have to get a 4 year college degree from an accredited university. It doesn't matter what your major is. Take courses in English, Speech, Math, Science, Government, etc. Join the debate team. You will need to have very high grades, preferably straight A's.

After graduating from college, then you go to law school for 3 years where you will learn everything there is to know about law. Again, make straight A's.

Then you have to take the state bar exam which will give you the license to practice law in your state. Then you try to get a job with a law firm that handles criminal defense cases. All law firms handle all kinds of cases. If you want to make money you will have to take every kind of case that you can.

If you take on criminal defense cases, you're going to be dealing with a lot of punks, thugs, and scumbag drug dealers that rape, pilfer, and murder people, and if you don't get them off, they may come after you and your family.

Also, you should know that there is a huge glut in the legal field and lawyers cannot get hired. Lawyers are a dime a dozen. You will have borrowed over $200,000 to go to school and then you will be stuck with that enormous debt for at least 20 years or more while you try to pay it off. And about the only jobs that lawyers can find today are for contract research, and they only pay minimum wage. If I were you I would choose another career field.

Which stream should I take up if I want to opt for criminology in the future?

Since criminology is under the Social science background taking sociology will be very much useful. Apart from this u can also try Psychology, Journalism, statistics. These subjects will definetly useful while doing masters in criminology.

Do I need more than 90 % (A grade) in HSC (12th grade of India) to get into Oxford for an MSc in criminology and criminal justice?

Thanks for A2A. There is no such cut-off number or magic number as such; what you need to understand is that there exists a thumb rule — University of Oxford prizes academic excellence above anything else for admissions across all levels for its range of courses offered. Read that last sentence once again slowly. As you could see, the term academic excellence is in bold. For an admission in a postgraduate level course (MSc or MPhil); it is mandatory to have an exceptional academic excellence in your undergrads; whatever you choose to study. Good marks is one part of the story. You need to have something extra — that X factor that helps in improving your chances as well. E.g. a paper presented in an international conference in your 3rd year of undergrads; a gold medal in a state physics exam; represented India in Maths Olympiad; won 3 best-student awards in a row etc.Ensure you score above 90% in English tests as well (IELTS band 8 is preferred). Exhibiting you do possess adequate English language is one of the pre-requisites at Oxford. Both undergrads marksheets and school finishing marksheets will be required. Since seats are limited; you are competing with the very best across all nations on Earth; it would be good to have a thorough balanced academic performance throughout your academic life. Whether that means 85% or 90% or 100% is a debatable topic. Finally yes, you need to ace your interviews as well.Anything that is mandatory for your specific department will be let known to you once you apply to the Graduate Admissions offices in Oxford.A combination of multiple factors will get you a place at Oxford. You need to plan ahead of your time; understand what your priorities are; what your limitations are; do a thorough assessment and then apply.

Air Force security forces or Navy master at arms?

Security duty for both branches is essentially the same. You will spend most of your time guarding gates/piers/aircraft, checking IDs, and searching vehicles. Most of the patrol duties have been handed over to the Department of Defense Police (civilian police officers), but you might do the odd patrol here and there. There are ups and downs to being a K9/Military Working Dog Handler. If your only desire is to work with dogs, then it's great. The downside is once you get the K9 Handler qualification, then it is the ONLY duty you will perform, and it will severely limit where you can go (most Navy bases do not have a K-9 unit, so you will be restricted to only the bases that do), so it will lower the number of places you can travel. There are other qualifications you can receive after you've been in a few years (Small Arms Instructor, Crew-Served Weapons Instructor, Military Investigator, Protective Services Detail, Brig Afloat, etc), so those are other things you can consider. Either way, military service always looks good when applying for civilian jobs. I've interviewed with several police departments and my service has given me a slight advantage over other applicants. If you couple your military experience with a college degree, then you will be an excellent candidate.

I am about to join the Army and was wondering what are the best and worst MOS I can choose from?

Prior military (E5), ASVAB score of 112 and have a BA in criminal justice.
P.S. I don`t want to make the same mistake as before and go as "open contract" and get screwed with a cook MOS. Therefore, I need feed-back from past and present Soldiers! Thanks.

How good or bad would you consider a 2.8 GPA?

If you think of all A's equaling 4.0, all B's as 3.0, all C's as 2.0, all D's as 1.0, and all F's as 0, then you have a little less than an all B average. (Probably mostly B's, maybe a few A's, but some C's that bring your average down). You need to bring your average up a bit (over 3.0), but you're doing well if you brought your grades up that much. Universities look at lots of things in addition to grades. You need to have decent ACT or SAT scores. Maybe using a prep book or course for that would help, as a good score may balance out your grades. Maybe do some volunteer work or extracurricular activities, as long as they don't detract from your studies, as universities like well-rounded students. Work on your writing skills, too, as a good personal statement on applications can help get you positive attention from admissions people.
