Cramps/stomach Pain In The Middle If The Night

Severe stomach pain in the middle of the night?

Yesterday I woke to a really bad stomach ache. The pain occurred in the middle of stomach. The thing is when I stood up and walked around it eventually went away. And when I tried to sleep, the pain would come back. It took about an hour for to go away. And this happened to me before about a month ago. Should I get checked up by a doctor?

Stomach pain & nausea in the middle of the night?

Over the last few weeks I've been experiencing pretty bad stomach pain in the middle of the night. Only twice has it been very severe, sending me to the bathroom and in so much pain :(

Last night was one of those nights, accompanied with nausea and my heart kind of racing and just feeling very weird in general. It was pretty scary. I wondered if i was having a heart attack!

This only happens in the middle of the night and is usually completely relieved when I'm done in the bathroom, but sometimes my stomach is still a little painful in the morning, but again...this goes away as the day goes on since the problem is only at night.

Help?

Stomach pain when I wake up in the middle of the night, help?

It sounds like a duodenal ulcer. A stomach ulcer causes pain shortly after you eat, as the stomach acids are irritating the ulcer. The duodenal ulcer pain starts a couple hours later as the acidic food enters the small intestine. This is a classical presentation of this condition.

A common clinical feature of peptic ulcer disease is dyspepsia--a chronic or recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort centered in the upper abdomen. This symptom is commonly related to eating and is often nocturnal. However, the absence of epigastric pain does not rule out the diagnosis. In patients with duodenal ulcers, the abdominal pain may be severe and radiate through to the back as a result of penetration of the ulcer posteriorly into the pancreas.
NSAID use, relief of the discomfort by antacids, and epigastric tenderness also support the diagnosis of peptic ulcer disease. However, these are neither sensitive nor specific indicators; most people with symptoms of dyspepsia do not have peptic ulcer disease.

I have treated this before.

Why do I get stomach pain in the middle of night?

When you are saying you develop acute pain in your stomach in the middle of the night, that suggests most probably an acute pain below the umbilicus or surrounding the umbilicus. This mainly occurs due diarrhea, mainly mucoid diarrhea which may develop into dysentery if not treated. So they irritate the intestinal walls giving rise to the pain. Now the question is why at midnight? Answer is simple: By midnight the food that we have in dinner reaches the intestines and aggravate the situation.Treatment: 1)Oral rehydration salts(ORS) is a must, 2)if necessary have metronidazole tab 400mg, thrice daily for 5 days.

What might cause a severe stomach pain in the middle of the night?

Woke up at 2 a.m. with severe, I mean SEVERE pain under sternum radiating to my back. I could only push my fist against both areas to lessen the pain. Long story short…..gallbladder. It was removed that day. I knew it was my gallbladder, not because I am a nurse, bc it easily could have been many other things. The severity of the pain and the location of the pain convinced me. Myocardial infarcts also presents this way for some people, associated with shortness of breath, a feeling of doom, pain radiating to jaw, arms , back. so don’t gamble with your health.Addendum…..Severe stomach pain can be caused by several things. Pancreatitis, cholelithiasis.. (gall bladder stones), cholecystitis.. (infected gall bladder), bleeding ulcer, strangulated bowel (life threatening), excessive alcohol intake, spicy food, urinary track infection, a blunt trauma injury, food poisoning, constipation or diarrhea. There are hundreds of possibilities. When in doubt, check it out.

Why do I get stomach pains only at night?

Again, by “stomach” pain, I assume you mean abdominal pain.Real pathology in the abdomen doesn’t distinguish day and night. Some conditions are aggravated by recumbency. The most likely reason is the following—while you sleep tonight, your body gets rid of all the gas that accumulated during the day. When you have your morning bowel movement, you get rid of the last amount of solid waste in your colon. The above occurs in a “normal” colon. As soon as you get up in the morning, you start swallowing saliva, eat breakfast, etc. and as the day progresses the gas and meals move through your bowel and accumulate in the colon. This is the reason your abdomen is relatively flat first thing in the morning and that you feel bloated as the day progresses. 90+% of Americans get colon dysfunction and have trouble passing gas at night and solid waste on a regular basis in the morning at some point in their lifetime. When that doesn’t happen normally, both gas and solids accumulate during the day and cause discomfort at night. That is probably what is going on. You can test the hypothesis by taking 2Tbsp Milk of Magnesia at bedtime 3 night in a row and see if your symptoms improve. If they do, begin a fiber supplement, 4 metamucil capsules a day and your colon function will gradually improve to the point that your recurring discomfort is relieved. If you really did mean stomach, you could have a posterior penetrating ulcer in your stomach or duodenum which becomes symptomatic when you lie on your back. If the pain worsens or doesn’t improve after a week or so, see your primary care physician.

Stomach pains waking me up in the night..?

Last weekend I was sick and throwing up, and since then I've had stomach pains that literally wake me up in the middle of the night. It's like a twisting, cramping feeling. Lately it's only been at night, and generally if I wake up and sit up for a while, I can eventually get back to sleep and it feels better in the morning. I've also had increased burping. It feels like gas pains, but I don't think that's it. I've seen people complaining of these symptoms on various sites but no one ever has an answer as to what it is. I'm getting desperate for an answer, I'm unable to sleep right now because of it.

Severe nausea, shaking, stomach cramps and gas in the middle of the night?

Last night, about 1 am, I woke up with severe stomach cramps. Not in the gut, right on the stomach. Then I felt very sick, like I was actually going to vomit, but I was too tired to move. I was uncontrollably shaking but it wasn't cold. After an hour or so it calmed down and I went back to sleep. But now it is morning, I can still feel the same symptoms but they're not as bad, any ideas to what it is???
P.S= I'm thirteen, stress free, no medicine, was diagnosed with mild gastritis 2 years ago but never effected me
