www.artattack.co.uk also has some fun ways to make stuff, simple drawing techniques, projects, etc.

How about
- drawing with your other hand [not the dominant one] ;
- drawing with a paint brush in your mouth ;
- drawing the image upside-down ;
- drawing by looking at the reflection of the object in the mirror ;
- creating a drawing with Only One shape - eg. only circles, only stars, only pentagons, .... ;
- drawing a very very detailed, micro-level close-up of anything, eg. a fabric, etc. ;
- reflection/image of something through a concave or convex lens or on a concave/convex mirror - eg. in the rear-view or side-view mirror of a car/bike ;
- put on your favorite [or any new] music & just let yourself flow with the music & emotions - use paints, colors, shapes, lines, ..... & see what emerges on the canvas/drawing paper.
- close down all sound systems & let the room/surrounding be silent [no artificial sounds like TV, ipods,....] & concentrate on the sounds from nature - birds, dogs, ..... then imagine what they are up to & draw some scene ;
- draw the same scene during different times of the day & night - play with light effects besides the content ; if you choose a place that has people [entrance to a workplace/building, station, road crossing,....] then you will have great variety & some regularity too.
- draw the exact Opposite emotion to any drawing you've done already. eg. smiling to frowning , a sunny day to rainy/hazy/overcast day, ...
- blind contour drawings

Your main aim should be to have fun while you are doing these, enjoy what you are doing. Without knowing, your creativity will be re-ignited :-))

How do we help kids enhance their creative writing skills?

Children’s creativity is endless. Little ones are able to imagine things that go beyond expectations. If kids engage in writing from an early age, they will be able to expand their creative potential. Children have a natural tendency to notice and observe the world around them; writing is a fun way for kids to express themselves and build skills at the same time!Give your child enough time to be creativeCreative writing requires higher-level thinking from your child. Take a look at his or her schedule and be sure that your child has enough time to brainstorm writing ideas. Encourage your child to spend time writing down thoughts on the different elements of his or her piece.Create a writing environmentBecoming a creative writer takes practice and needs interest. Setting up an environment at home can help support this success. Having writing materials that are readily available and interesting are important. Keeping a writing journal handy is a great way to capture those thoughts, even in the car. One big tip is to play games at home that build vocabulary skills.Use writing prompts to practiceWriting prompts or story starters are a great way to get your child’s writing process started. We are all familiar with “Once upon a time…” Ask your child, “What are other ways to start our creative process?” Take time and brainstorm a few with your child for upcoming writing sessions. Kids can get pretty creative.

Which are some good books to improve creative writing skills?

Here are the books that have been the most helpful for me (in order of helpfulness):How Fiction Works by James WoodThe Tin House Writer’s Notebook Vol. IStory and Discourse by Seymour ChatmanStory by Robert McKee (technically about writing screenplays but very useful for fiction writing as well)The Art of the Novel by Milan KunderaThe Tin House Writer’s Notebook Vol. IIBurning Down the House by Charles BaxterAspects of the Novel by E.M. ForsterThe Art of Fiction by John Gardner (I hesitated to put this on the list… it’s not very helpful and way too polemical. Nevertheless I do think back to it from time to time so take it as you will.)Currently reading (very good):The Rhetoric of Fiction by Wayne C. BoothOn my to-read list:The Anatomy of Story by John Truby (Technically about screenplay writing but I have read many quotes from this book and found them incredibly useful, especially when it comes to writing dialogue.)Narrative Discourse by Gerard Genette (I know some of the work from this book second-hand through writers like Chatman… very good stuff.)Thirteen ways of Looking at the Novel by Jane Smiley (I have read her essay, included in this book, on different forms of novelistic discourse and found that really useful.)The Half Known World by Robert Boswell (Love the title essay from this but haven't read anything else. I have heard that the title essay is the only essay in the book that’s good. I’m going to pick it up eventually…)

What is your best tip for me to improve my creative writing skills?

Have you considered trip to the bar or just an environment that you are not familiar with? Here is an interesting tip from “Could a trip to the bar be the key to creativity?”There's a reason why many artists, composers and creative genii conceive their finest work under the influence of alcohol. A night at the bar has been proven in the Journal, Consciousness and Cognition, to improve one's creative capacity (sort of). As a result of alcohol’s ability to diminish an individual's capability to think methodically and limit task focus, it in turn allows your brain to run free. This is because it gets far too distracted by other tasks and/or stimuli to function normally. In turn, this improves one’s ability to problem solve in a creative manner as those stimuli that are normally ignored now become a catalyst for ingenuity. Allowing your brain to be in a different state will allow for new, unique and differing perspectives on everything around you.If you're not too keen on the idea of alcohol yourself, bars can still be a great place to fuel creative thinking. The Journal of Environmental Psychology has proposed that environments that are dimly lit (e.g. bars) are ideal for creativity as they unconsciously make you feel less constrained, freer and more willing to take risks. Similarly, University of Chicago study (Is Noise Always Bad? Exploring the Effects of Ambient Noise on Creative Cognition on JSTOR) proves that environments with ambient noise also help support creative thinking as it increases the difficulty of logical processing, in turn promoting abstract processing and creativity.Environments that are too quiet allow for a sharp focus and environments that are too loud overwhelm the brain, both of which are important to creative thinking. Evidently, bars create an environment that is highly conducive to creative thinking, irrespective of what takes places within them. In conjunction, chances are, you haven't worked in a bar, in fact they're most likely a far cry from your typical work environment. Since it can then be considered a foreign environment (for working at least) a recent study (https://journals.aom.org/doi/abs...) has proven it is likely to boost creativity. Worst comes to worst, just watch people. You’d be surprised at the inspiration you can get from the now increasingly creative people surrounding you.
