Days Of Rest After Working Out In The Gym

How many days should i rest after workout?

Just one day for that light of a workout. If building muscle mass is your objective then you're doing nowhere near enough. you should be doing 3-5 exercises per muscle you're trying to see gains in. So like for biceps you should be doing 3 sets of 8 reps of concentration curls, hammer curls, and dumbbell curls. and like 5 sets of 20 sit-ups followed by 2 sets of 25 reverse sit-ups with 25 crunches between each set. Also the weight you should be lifting should be so that you really couldn't do an extra rep on the last set (even if you really really wanted to =]). Even with that kind of workout, you could still workout every other day. Also for building muscle you should be eating lots of protein. like 1g of protein for every pound of lean body mass plus an additional 15-20g (because your body needs more for gains). If you want to learn more about working out you can go to bodybuilding.com there they have all kinds of diets, exercises and information about rest time all for free. Plus you can easily search how to workout which body part + what weights you can use (if dumbbell is only thing you have available). Also, biceps only make up 1/3 of your arms size (triceps make up the rest).

Taking a rest day from the gym?

No, take a rest day. Would you rather have to take 10 years worth of painful rest days, or one week worth of rest days that save yourself from pain? No use hurting yourself even more, especially while your body is in its prime.

How many days or hours do I need to rest after a chest work out?

Depends on your goals. You'll most likely incur soreness for 24-72 hours post workout. You can work through this soreness if you want to adapt quicker or you can wait 2 to 3 days or until soreness subsides if you're lifting for strength or muscle growth.A brief 5 minute, light weight chest exercise may help with your muscle soreness (DOMS) the following day. As this will help stimulate blood flow to the area you worked and may promote endorphins. Ideally, you should also focus on back exercises (pull) to offset your chest exercises (push) to prevent muscle imbalances that could lead to injury. There are no set hours or days that you must wait. You can lift chest every day of the week if you wanted to. But, listen to your body. Lifting through a little soreness is common. Lifting through a lot of soreness after a huge workout is not the best use of your time. As your time would be better spent focusing on other body parts.

Is going to the gym 4 days a week ok?

So i usually go to the gym four days a week....taking no more than 2 days off in between going and I was wondering if it matters that I only go four days but still do 5 hours a week of exercise. Is this still going to help me lose weight?? My diet is very healthy. I just find it hard to go to the gym everyday without a break in between.

Is it necessary to take 1 day rest in a full week gym workout?

Hi,The answers everyone gave you is correct but there’s a flip side to your question.Taking one day rest is not a very important thing. You should understand what rests means for your body part. For e.g. if you workout for chest on monday then atleast give 48 hours for recovery of that particular muscle group. So according to me, its not much important to take a full day rest, if you know which muscle group you are working on and you are giving it appropriate time to recover. Many will not agree with me but if you are hitting the same muscle group repeatedly and taking a day-off that wont help you at all.Rest is very important for recovery but you should know which body party to give rest to.Thanks!
