Debate Who Would Make A Better World Leader

Men or women make better leaders?

Under equal opportunity I believe they both have the ability to lead with their own strengths. And yet, in light of this question I also have to say that I believe a woman has the skills necessary to persue an issue with more force than a man on the basis that a woman is usually the last to let anything go, be it the last word or a fruitful debate. And when in doubt, a woman will fight with everything in her to prove she is right when a man will walk away with the belief he is right and leave it at that.

Ready...set...debate...?

I have a problem with having a female president at this particular time in history because of the nations that we are having issues with and how they see women. Since the nations that we are currently having the biggest problems with are Muslim countries that believe that women are pretty much equal to a dog in importance, having a female president right now would do us more harm than good. Do you really think that Ammadinajab will take Hillary seriously? He has already stated that he won't. Many other leaders from foreign countries have stated the same thing, that America would become the laughing stock of the world and a political joke if we elect a female president. 10 years ago, no problem, 10 years from now, possibly no problem, at this point in time...no way!!!!

I am a Christian BTW.

Who are better leaders, women or men?

In very, very general terms, no, they do not.Women tend to be more empathetic whereas men tend to see the world in terms of black-and-white. Consequently, men become better equipped to lead as it is easier for them to be consistent.Women tend to be smaller and quieter than their taller and stronger male counterparts, and necessary characteristics such as agressiveness tend to be encouraged in men and discouraged in women. As a result, most men grow up more confident.Because men tend to be uglier than women (my point of view, at least), we are more often judged for our actions and much less our appearance. The reverse is true for women. Thus, the average man will find it easier to command respect than the average woman.Again, this is speaking in very broad terms. There are of course outstanding female leaders and terrible male leaders. But it is indubitably a male-dominated field, and there are significant biological and sociological reasons for that.Women's rights is great and all but it doesn't beat several thousand years of evolution.

Which world leader do you trust the most now to always be on the side of the people?

Its a good question but a difficult one to answer Ifeanyi.I don’t follow every World leader but one I do follow with a great deal of interest is the New Zealand Prime Minister, a lady by the name of Jacinda Ardern.Below is a link to her inaugural speech at the UN. New Zealand - Prime Minister Addresses General Debate, 73rd SessionPopular phrases that endorse her leadership on the international stage would be as follows:This is what compassionate, intelligent leadership looks like.Have a look and see what you think.

Does India have the potential to lead the world?

A big yes.Indians are already leading world’s biggest companies like Google, Pepsi Co, Mastercard, Adobe Systems, Microsoft, etc. Other than US, no country has more prowess to IT like we Indian have. Indians have the second largest pool of doctors, the third largest army and a young human resource. Yet, India is still a developing nation and there are just two causes for our miseriesReservationCorruptionIt is rightly said that to be successful one must at the right place and at the right time which actually never happens in India due to reservations as we lose consider amount of talent to US and European nations. Perhaps all the global leaders that we are being proud of are not serving an Indian company. Forget about these management Gurus we don’t even care for our NASA scientists. Being a boy belong to an open category is worst thing you can ask from GOD as almost 80% of seats are some or other way reserved for someone. Caste is always given priority over talent and we have Tina Dhabi as the biggest exampleLastly, the main reason India is lagging behind is corruption. India was ruled by party for 60 years by the most corrupt party and we are still existing is a big achievement. Even though we haven’t yet heard of scams from the BJP government but we can’t deny that corruption still exists. Basically, in India you would hardly see good guys in politics. The people who are elected are not capable of running the nation. So, if we could get rid of Reservation and corruption no one can stop us from ruling this world

How can Putin debate with current opposition leader Navalny, if he avoids to pronounce his surname (Navalny)?

Putin just had press conference open to anyone. The journalists asked Putin several questions regarding opposition. Putin gave precise answers. CNN translated it, so it should be available. The opposition has nothing even to bring on the table for the discussion with Putin. They opposition doesn't have any program at all. All they say are proclamations like “ Putin is very bad”, “freedom”, “corruption “. That is it.They have no program. By the way, can one point any country besides Russia, where the President answers any question, to any journalist in the room? This is live event. Any journalist from the world could attend the event with free registration. Registration is given to anyone who is associated with the press. Who can say there is no freedom in Russia? The judge today announced eight years sentence for a to the former minister of the Russian economy Ulyakev for a bribe. There is corruption in Russia; and the current Government does excellent job fighting it.There is opposition in Russia. It is represented in the Duma (Congress) and the Senate. In order to have fraction in Duma party must pass 5% direct voting threshold. There are 6 parties in the Duma in opposition to the Putin and his party “United Russia”.And there is Navalnyi. He is nobody really. He just making things to get an attention. It is his job. It is the way he makes living. There is nothing to debate about between Putin and Navalnyi. Russians see the latter as a mentally sick person, or an angry clown. The support he receives is around the number of mentally sick people in Russia.

My debate topic is, "Women are the backbone of society, therefore they make better leaders". I will be talking about why women are the backbone of society (also in a community and family state). What kind of points should I make?

Off the bat, I’m sorry you must deal with such a badly worded, hamhanded topic. Whoever wrote this was clearly neither an intellectual, nor a feminist, nor good at grammar, nor a debater. Now STOP. Complaining over. Sometimes when you are debating you must support things you don’t agree with — those who are questioning the validity of the topic in these comments are being unhelpful to you. Here is what you need to do.In terms of framing, this is a “double burden” motion, which means you must prove two things in order to win: 1) Women are the backbone of society. 2) The backbone of a society makes a better leader. However, you stated in your question that you only have to deal with burden #1. I assume somebody else is handling #2.Arguments as to why women are the backbone of society:Women tend to be more involved in “care-based labor” — that of raising children, caring for elderly, etc. — and therefore are indispensable to societal functioning.Because they are more willing to do the necessary unpaid labor to feed current capitalist systems which would otherwise collapseBecause they allow for future prosperity through raising good youngBecause society can rely on women to care for them in retirement rather than living in constant fear of lack of care.Women are the only sex able to carry children, therefore making them key to society.Women are statistically shown to be more involved in their community through organizations like PTA’s, Boards, etc.Women are (sometimes overwhelmingly) statistically more likely to do certain necessary jobs in the labor force such as nursing. There’s definitely more arguments here. Notice how the above argumentation AVOIDS the sexism inherent in this topic by making POSITIVE (aka descriptive) statements rather than NORMATIVE statements about women in society. NEVER say women “ought” to do more unpaid work. That would be revolting. Rather, say women “currently do” more unpaid work, which is a reason why they create benefit for society (and presumably make better leaders?), even though this unfair burden should not actually be placed on women alone.
