Debs/prom In Danger What Do We Do

How do I say "prom" in Australian?

Here in Australia, we call it the school formal.

Thanks for the question :)

What do students usually do in prom?

It varies from school to school obviously. In my school prom is just fancy socializing. Kids dress up and try to get a date (especially for their senior year) and dress up in fancy cocktail dresses. You get corsages (flower bracelets for girls) and boutonnieres (flower for the guy’s breast pocket) that match your dates. You get together with your group of friends (or just you and your date if it’s really romantic) and take pictures with each other and get a limo to go to dinner and the venue. Then at prom its kind of strange and awkward because there are teachers everywhere so you're just kind of grinding and dancing. Then there’s the after party!

What is a high school prom like?

Not entirely sure what kind of answer you're looking for, so I'll share a bit about my personal experience.Overall, a unique and special experience - it's a special sight to see everyone you've known for the past 4 (or so) years all looking their best for one arbitrary night. After all, there's so much planning and build up to this one event! If all goes well, it will definitely be one of those (if not the most) paramount moments you remember from high school, up there with graduation and the likes. Needless to say, your experiences will highly vary based upon your date, your group of friends, and the rest of your dynamics with your class of students. My best advice to you is to take it easy - there's no point in stressing all over the little details that you'll probably forget in a couple of years. Focus on having fun for one last time (assuming you're a senior) under the stars with people you really value and to really make the most out of it. That's what you'll remember in the long run. Also, be sure to take lots of pictures - this is probably one of the few occasions where it'll be worthwhile to shell out for the professional photographer.

Personal Safety: What can I do if I feel I'm in very grave danger?

Disappear.  Collect up as much cash as you can. Leave your cell phone and all electronic do dads behind. Put your belongings in storage, if there's time.  Go to another town or city, far away or leave the country altogether.  Live simply.  Use public transportation.  Tell nobody where you are and do not call anyone (this is what trips people up).   Do nothing to leave a digital or a traceable trail.  Get a job where they pay you cash.  Do not return to your home town until you know it's safe. This raises several questions in my mind.  Does this threatening person really have a contact inside the police department?  Do they have a history of violence?  Did the policeman who came to your house give you a card with his name on it and a "case number"?  You can call the police department and inquiring about your police report. If they cannot look up your report, it's cause for concern.  This could just be bluster.  If the person who threatened you is truly an evil person, you need to disappear.

I asked out a girl to prom, and I don't know her very well. But I would like to kiss her at prom. How do I do that?

Show her a damn good time.Demonstrate Annie side of you butndont try to pretend you are 35 year old patron of the arts attending. Black and white event.Let your teenage charisma stand out in a way that she and others haven't seen before. This is he time to let loose and have fun. The chaperones of the evening will be treating you like young adults. Celebrate the one night advancement to “maturity” and be daring not not irresponsibly dangerous. It will open up her reservations and feel safe cutting loose eith you throughout the evening before you go in for the kiss. Play your cards right, she will plant one on you before you expect her to.You need to interface with others . But pay attention to her and treat her like she had a “Cinderella” evening.Don't make the evening feel like a download of all of her vitals and background. Find common ground in the funnand make sure you look like a catch when you walk her to say “hellow” to her friends . If one or two of her girlfriends give her a “thumbs up”, you are in good shape.

What do people usually do after prom?

What I did after Prom was go back to my house and change my clothes to sweats and a t-shirt. Then we went to the beach -- just him and I -- and stood there for maybe 15 minutes. I then made him carry me back to the car from the beach. He dropped me (I think on purpose, and not playfully) onto the sand; keep in mind this was my high school boyfriend, and I was all of 100 lbs at the time.[1]  It was a relief to finally break up with him... Then he drove me to my house and I endured his car with no AC for the fourth trip in total that day, and that was that. You decide whatever happens after prom. Hopefully yours will be more romantic and magical than mine, but fear not, if it's just like mine was (or worse) you're young and will have many better and more romantical moments awaiting you in the future. Probably with people who won't drop you on purpose cause they don't think your jokes are funny. Just sayin'. Oh, and people renting hotel rooms for just them, well, they're probably making whoopee. But you didn't need me to tell you that. [1] Don't worry I took him the heck down with me.
