Define What Was Meant In The Anicent World By The Terms

World Literature Definition?

First thing you need to do: what early literary works are you supposed to draw from? Do you have a class syllabus that lists some? Off the top of my head, I would look at Odysseus in "The Odyssey", Antigone in "Antigone", and Achilles or Hector in "The Iliad". You could even use Jesus for this one.

Next step: What attributes do your chosen literary heroes share?? Is it compassion, bravery, strength, wisdom, etc? You can choose more than one trait here, as long as it can apply to each hero you discuss. For example, "Heroism is comprised of an individual's ability to _____ and ______, as shown by the actions of ______, _______, and ________.

Step Three: What is the Aristotleian definition?? Is it similar to or different than your own idea of what a hero is?? My personal idea of a hero is someone who does the right thing even when the temptation to do otherwise is very strong, or someone who is ruled by love rather than hate. My own examples would be Frodo and Sam in Lord of the Rings, Melanie in Gone With The Wind, and Larry Underwood in The Stand. You should work out what you think being a hero means to YOU, then talk about how that compares to what it meant to ARISTOTLE, then finally back up your position with some literary or film heroes that you identify with.

Good Luck!!

WHAT DOES 8TH WONDER OF THE world MEAN??

Two people in antiquity, Herodotus and Callimachus, compiled a list of the Seven Wonders of the World (Which we know as the 7 wonders of the ANCIENT world.) Their writings haven't survived themselves, but we do know what was included in them thanks to references found in other documents.

The wonders are:
1.Great Pyramid of Giza
2.Hanging Gardens of Babylon
3.Temple of Artemis ar Ephesus
4.Statue of Zues at Olympia
5.Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus
6.Colossus of Rhodes
7.Lighthouse of Alexandria

So, to say something is an "8th wonder" is to say that it is so spectacular that it deserves to be categorized with the other 7 wonders.

What is difference between World and universe?

World is not an exact scientific word.
It used to mean what all man could perceive in his mind. So in ancient times it meant 'Earth'. Even now in a lose way it means the same. Then it became a philosophical & literary term, after having lost its scientific basis. As man's horizon expanded from Earth, to Solar System, to Milkyway (the concept of Milkyway as a galaxy came about in the middle of last century) the word 'World' too changed its meaning.
Universe is a fixed term that means everything that is created and its structure.

What does destiny mean in greek?

"The Ancient Greek word moira (μοίρα) means a portion or lot of the whole, and is related to meros, "part, lot" and moros, "fate, doom", Latin meritum, "desert, reward", English merit, derived from the PIE root (s)mer, "to allot, assign".
Moira may mean portion or share on the distribution of booty (ίση μοίρα, isi moira, "equal booty")portion in life, lot, destiny, (μοίρα έθηκαν αθάνατοι, moiran ethikan athanatoi, "the immortals fixed the destiny") death -moros- (μοίρα θανάτοιο, moira thanatoio, " destiny of death"), portion of the distributed land., The word is also used for something which is meet and right (κατά μοίραν, kata moiran, "according to fate, in order, rightly")
It seems that originally the word moira did not indicate the destiny but included the ascertainment or proof. In modern Greek the word Moira came to mean "destiny" (μοίρα or ειμαρμένη)."
