In some big countrys, the power is shut down in different areas every couple of hours in order to save and spread electricity all over the country. Since all the power and electricity will shut down so will the refrigerator. This meaning that for around 45 min - 2 hours the material in the fridge will be able to melt or defrost. Also sometimes the fan gets stuck and then stuffs up causing it to freeze and stop working. They also give out CFCs (Chloro-Fluoro Carbons) which result in ozone layer depletion. The refrigerator is very expensive depending on its quality. Some people cannot afford it. If the quality is bad then it will easily break down and cost even more to repair. Also the refrigerator is a big part of your electricity bill. If it breaks down it could mean it could over freeze then break causing water damage and making you claim on your houe insurance. The refrigerator takes up a lot of space in your kitchen as well.
