Desktop Vs Laptop Which One Should I Buy

Should i buy laptop or desktop?

From my perspective, there's no question -- buy a laptop.

You always have the option of adding a docking station
(or just adding an external monitor/keyboard) if you
want different ergonomics.

But a laptop lets you move around the house, the campus,
the city, back-and-forth to work and you can take it
with you on trips.

With wireless connectivity everywhere, you can work
where ever you want.

The only advantages I can think of for desktops are:
- somewhat cheaper
- most power/heat dissipation capability
(so you can run more/hotter processors and load
up more peripherals)

If you can get the features you want in a laptop,
then don't tie yourself down to a desktop.

Should I buy a desktop or laptop?

Choosing between a desktop and a laptop depends upon your exact need.DesktopConsider buying a desktop if you work at home.Power: Desktop CPUs are very powerful than laptop CPUs since laptop runs on battery and desktop have an external power supply.Media Consumption: Desktop are best for media consumption since they have a big display and a good quality sound system.Content creation: Laptops also can be used for content creation but desktop have an upper hand with its powerful CPU and GPU.Home Office: If you work in your home then a desktop will be appropriate.Output device: If you have printers and other I/O devicces, desktop will have an upper hand.Connectivity: Desktop have more number of connectivity options.Upgrades: Desktop internals are easily accessible and easily upgradable.Cost: Compared to a laptop of similar spec.LaptopIf you are a student, then I recommend buying a laptop.Portable: The most important advantage of having a laptop is portability.Power: Battery and Performance will not go hand-in-hand.Content creation: Laptops with high end CPU and GPU can come close to desktop.Media Consumption: Good alternative to portable media consumption.Connectivity: lesser number of I/O potrs than a desktop.Upgrades: Depends on the model of laptop you own. When buying one make sure that atleast RAM and storage are upgradable.Cost: More costlier than desktop of same spec. But considering the small package, its fair.I personally am a student and a designer. I bought a laptop with 6th gen Intel core i7 cpu, 16gb ram, 1tb storage, 15.6″ laptop with a Nvidia GTX 960M graphics. It is a portable gaming laptop and I can run all graphics demanding software and almost all recent anf old games. It cost about 80k in India.

Desktop vs. Laptop . . . . . . .?

Desktops are by far longer lasting and more reliable. The enemy of the laptop is heat, you take the same components of a desktop and cram then into space 1/10th the size. The components get hot, and start to stress other things out, also all that power has to flow through a tiny power port, and those are prone to failure, costing $100 or more to repair, unless you know how to take the laptop apart, and solder a new jack in.

Also the desktop, you can change or add a graphics card, change the CPU in most cases, add multiple hard drives, etc to extend the life of the machine.

Desktop vs. laptop?

With Desktops its easier to upgrade them once they get older, so for a gaming computer i recommend desktop since a lot of the times u cant replace the graphics card in a laptop, and for 4k, definitely a desktop. Desktops are in general cheaper than laptops, but they have to be the same speed and stuff.

Should I buy a laptop or a desktop for gaming?

Laptops are great for gaming. So are desktops. That being said, laptops are absolutely destroyed by desktops in the key metrics:Best gaming performanceMost performance per dollarTo get desktop like performance out of a laptop you have to pay at least 50% more. At the same time, laptops that deliver best in class gaming experiences are frequently either heavy and bulky or struggle to avoid thermal throttling in extended game play sessions. I won't say that gaming laptops are bad... they're good products that fill a need. When compared against desktops, they cost more and don't perform as well. Of course, good luck taking your desktop to the coffee shop with you or getting in a little game time on a long trip with your desktop! If you want an immersive, high quality gaming experience, in general get a desktop. If mobility is more important to you than game play experience, get a laptop.

Which Apple Mac desktop or laptop should I buy?

In terms of desktop vs laptop, you’re always going to get more power per $ in a desktop. Without the concerns of power management and weight, it’s possible to put more power in at a lower cost. So if you don’t see any need to get something that can be mobile and you want the most power for your money, definitely get a desktop. However, if you foresee any need to be mobile at all at any point in the future, then you definitely should go with a MacBook Pro. Even the base model machines are powerful enough to handle most of what you would do for your use case although you might benefit from a dedicated graphics card.If you go the desktop route, I would recommend a 4k 21.5″ or the 5k 27″ iMac. Either get a Fusion drive or get the SSD model and buy external storage. It is well worth it. If you get the 21.5″ model, the RAM can’t be upgraded (at least not easily) so make sure you get at least 16 GB of RAM. The 27″ can be upgraded easily so get the lowest amount of RAM and buy the cheaper, 3rd party RAM upgrades. Either machine is great. If you go with the laptop model I would recommend getting at least 16 GB of RAM and a 500 GB SSD. Otherwise anything else and you’ll be fine.

Gaming Laptop Vs. Gaming Desktop -- Pros/Cons?

Gaming Desktop:

Pros: Cheaper than a similar performing laptop, upgradeable, newer parts/technology always come out for the desktop first

Cons: Not portable.

Gaming Laptop:

Pros: Portable, can offer same performance as a desktop if you have money.

Cons: More expensive than a similar performing desktop, not upgradeable (except for the hard drive), newer parts/technology come out later than a desktop.

A laptop will never on a battery, handle your gaming periods. If you plug it into the wall socket using the provided charger/AC adapter, you'll be fine, of course.

Unless you plan on gaming on the go, I recommend that you just get a mid-level laptop ($500-$700 US) for college and use the rest of your cash to upgrade your current rig or build a new one.

Desktop vs. Laptop?

Yeah I hear you. I bought a laptop for school and I didn't have it in me to sell the Desktop. I stuck with both because each have different 'feelings' associated with them. I like using both. The desktop for when I'm home and such, just doing whatever, and relaxing. And the laptop makes me feel more up-close and personal, which assists with me doing my schoolwork. It's like I feel professional when I use the laptop and do homework, whereas being at home usually hanging around on my computer in my underwear is me being lazy. Save up and hang on to both! The economy needs it! Dell's are relatively cheap and have good quality.

Desktop vs. Laptop? What are the pros and cons of both.?

Laptop:
Laptops usually cost slightly more than a comparable desktop. However, prices have dropped in recent years and laptop prices are very competitive.
Laptops may not be as easy to upgrade with new technology. Be sure to configure a laptop with the features that you need.
It's completely self-contained. This means the only things you need are the laptop and power cord.
You can get a wireless internet adapter built in so you can connect to the internet without plug-in.
If you live in a small space that simply cannot house you and a desktop PC at the same time.
If your laptop breaks, only the company that made it will be able to fix it, and after the warranty expires they will be happy to fix it for you, of course, at whatever the going rate happens to be.

The portability of a laptop makes this a more attractive item to be stolen if it is not properly secured.

Desktop:
Pay less and get more.
Desktops are usually much more expandable. You can usually more easily add a new video card, larger hard drive, a new processor, or other components when technology changes.
Desktop computers are generally more secure due to their size and lack of portability.
Maintaining your desktop pc and having repairs and upgrades made can usually be done at numerous places and at a much more reasonable cost.
When it comes to speed of downloads the desktop pc gives you more for your dollar.
With the desktop pc the ability to upgrade becomes greater. You have the capability to make it stronger, faster, and better with more memory and better graphics.
Ergonomics refers to the design of a workspace so that it allows for a comfortable and safe experience for the user, minimizing eye strain, back strain, and just generally more comfort. You can set up your workspace in a way that allows for all these benefits.

When buying a new computer, laptop vs desktop pc, the choice can be a difficult one to make. As both choices have the capability of running the same software the decision may boil down to what fits best with your lifestyle. Are you on the go a lot and need the portability or is most of your computing done at home? What's your personal preference? Give it some thought and weigh the pros and cons.

Gaming Versus: Desktop Vs. Laptop gaming?

I actually had a questions about this myself. (I wasn't so nice about it). Graphics for Laptops are built onto the motherboard. You buy the laptop with the graphics built in to it. This is fine if you know what you are paying for, and why you want those graphics in the first place! But Graphics take up more power, then up adding to the cost of the laptop (because you are paying for top of the line). Most people, and most laptop companies don't add all this unless you ask for it. The laptop companies want to sell you the cheapest laptop for a good price. So for the Average user that buys a laptop, the THINK because it is "New" it should be able to Run things fine! Unless you pay for the extra power of the graphics, you aren't going to be able to play those extra games. Even more, in the future if your newer games require better hardware the laptop is stuck in the past.
A desktop is more suited for gaming. You have your mouse, keyboard all laid out for gaming (I don't know how people play games on a laptop with out a mouse?) Plus if something is behind the times, you only need to upgrade that ONE part of the computer. It just doesn't make sense to me to buy some $2000 gaming laptop to play games for maybe a year, and then its behind. You buy a $2000 desktop computer, then just upgrade it over the years.
