Did I Do Something Dangerous Urgent

Blood pressure 220/120 is this very dangerous?

If that is what you have, you need urgent medical care. Greater than that value is considered a Hypertensive Urgency and if organ damage is indicated, a Hypertensive Emergency.

From link:
"Hypertensive urgency must be distinguished from emergency. Urgency is defined as severely elevated blood pressure (ie, systolic >220 mm Hg or diastolic >120 mm Hg) with no evidence of target organ damage.

Hypertensive emergencies require immediate therapy to decrease blood pressure within minutes to hours. In contrast, no evidence suggests a benefit from rapidly reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertensive urgency. In fact, such aggressive therapy may harm the patient, resulting in cardiac, renal, or cerebral hypoperfusion. This article discusses hypertensive emergency, but therapy for hypertensive urgency is discussed briefly."

How do emergency rooms treat panic attacks?

Working in the ER as a RN I have seen many, many panic attacks. In fact, in any given day I may see at least 3 or 4.How they are treated depends on a lot of things. First and foremost we have to make sure there is nothing life-threatening going on. Sometimes things like heart attacks or blood clots in the lungs can cause a person to appear to be having a panic attack. After anything serious is ruled out and the doctors can safely say this is most likely a panic attack, there are a few ways to treat them.Ativan, Xanax or Valium are all types of benzodiazepines that can treat anxiety. Although they are effective, they can cause major problems including addiction. Being addicted to one of these drugs can be dangerous because an overdose can easily kill someone. However; withdrawing from these meds can also be dangerous. It is almost certain that someone withdrawing from such a substance causes a seizure.More than likely, the person will receive some sort of benzo. Also, there are other medications, such as vistaril, that can help with anxiety. It is important to try to educate these people on the fact that an ER is not the place to have conditions like anxiety managed. This depends on each individual patient. If someone is in the ER daily for panic attacks they may be treated in a different way than someone who is not. The important thing is to consider each individual case and determine what is best for them. Also, getting them some help is important. Many times we have recommended a psychiatrist for these patients.

Will the ER take my ingrown toenail out for me?

Usually they will just clean it up, put some meds on it and wrap it up, send you home with some crutches and send you to a podiatrist. How do I know? My Husband has had them before and got referred to a specialist and they schedule the surgery usually right there in the doctors office. I do suggest taking some antiboitics and trying to get the infection down so it doesn't hurt as much when they give the shots to numb up your toe. Since there are so many nerves in the toe they will have to give ou several shots and one right under the nail and man it hurts, but soon you won't be feeling anything.

Showing penis to friends. HELP-URGENT?

It isn't that abnormal. Many young people, who are just beginning puberty, experiment with themselves and people close to them...their friends.

It happens, it's not that uncommon.

You're still virgins. You did not have sexual intercouse so you are a virgin...as is your friend.

It doesn't not make you gay. There is only one thing that makes you gay: being sexually attracted to other people of the same gender.

Unless you are sexually attracted to other males, and not attracted to females, then you are not gay.

Why do pilots say "emergency" and not use "mayday"?

Mayday is a distress call. If an aircraft uses this phraseology that means it is in grave danger and is in need of immediate assistance. An engine failure is a mayday call, an in flight fire is a mayday call, a pilot incapacitation in a two pilot aircraft is a mayday call etc.Pan, pan, pan is an urgency call. If an aircraft uses this phrase that means it is not in a situation which requires an immediate assistance, but is experiencing some unseen conditions. The pilots are simply telling the tower, that at the moment it seems they could get out of the abnormality but there is a chance it may change into a full blown emergency. A pan, pan call like the mayday call presides over all other communications. So, until the aircraft dismiss the emergency other airplanes must remain silent on the frequency. This assumes that the tower has not changed the frequency for either of the stations to maintain communication.
