Do Plan-B pills expire?

Hi there!

I am wondering if the Plan-B pill expires. Also a link to a page/ website that proves it does or doesn't expire would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance!

Plan b pill?

Warning
Plan B and other emergency contraceptive pills are NOT 100% effective.
If your period does not start within 3 weeks after taking Plan B, see your physician or do a home pregnancy test.
Plan B provides NO PROTECTION against HIV infection (AIDS) and other sexually transmitted diseases.
Plan B is not recommended for routine use as a contraceptive

I think you will be ok if you took the pill as directed and it sounds like you did. Next time please use a condom and use another form of birth control with the condom to give you added protection.

Could I be pregnant if I don’t get my period after using Plan B? I took it 4 days before my period starts.

Over the counter Emergency contraception is great, but no contraception is perfect. At this point in time, we now have both over the counter, and, once again, prescription options. It has been learned that the ECM failure rate is higher in those whose BMI is over 25, so there is a new—prescription— option for those individuals: ELLA.Having made that statement, let me actually address your question more directly. We always counsel our students that if their period does not start within one week of their expected date, they should return for a pregnancy test. Emergency contraception can alter your menstrual cycle for the immediate period. So your period might be late. (There is a lot of information— yes, it is in really small print, most of the time— in the package inserts. You might want to read it. While some of it might be technical, some of it will be very informative.) Emergency contraception is just a really really big dose of birth control, neatly packaged into one or two pills, to kick the body into the place it would have been, had you been on hormones all month. It is not meant to be anyone’s go to form of birth control. Interesting, the copper IUD is a more reliable form of morning after contraception, and is a much longer term, reversible, option. Here is a nice site for good info:The new rules for emergency contraception - Bedsider

Can I dissolve Plan B into a glass of water?

Yes, you can crush or chew the morning after pill as long as you get the whole dose. It can be difficult to get the entire dose out of a glass of water though, as some may get stuck to the glass. Don't use a lot of water when you're doing this, and after you drink it, add some more water to the glass, swirl it around, and drink it as well. You can do this a third time to make sure you get all residue.Let me give you some advice about Plan B. First, it's not a form of birth control, and it never should be used as such. It's supposed to be reserved for emergency contraception, like when a condom breaks, or if you get raped. It’s also not meant to be used more than a few times, because the more you use it, the less effective it can be, and it is only about 80% effective in the first place.Another thing about Plan B, is that it is a huge blast of hormones and can throw off your menstrual cycle for months. If you end up using it again in the next week or month, it can really mess up your cycle and can take a couple of month, or more depending on the person, to get it straightened out again. You need to be thinking about a better form of birth control if you don't wish for another child at this time. If your husband prefers to ejaculate inside you, then make him wear a condom every time, or buy yourself female condoms or a diaphragm and use them until you can see your doctor for other birth control options. If your husband has issues with wearing a condom, like telling you it doesn't feel the same, then tell him “sorry honey, but it's not you that will get pregnant, it’ll be me, and I'm not ready to put my body through this again, or have to worry about it.” You can take it from there. Good luck.

Taking plan b while on birth control?

It wasn't stupid to take plan B so please don't beat yourself up about it, the most important thing though was to continue taking your birth control pill, so I hope you did that. Plan B doesn't interfere with the normal birth control pills, so it never does any harm to take it (However ella morning after pill can affect it so avoid that). You say you are on 'three month birth control', what is the name of your pill? In general, as long as you were a week or two into the pack when you missed pills then the likelihood of falling pregnant is pretty low, so try not to worry. A pregnancy test 3 weeks after the sex that you were worried about should rule out any pregnancy. Hope this helps!

Can I still be pregnant from the emergency pill Ella?

Hi everyone me and my partner aren't planning to have another baby he was drunk and did it inside me at 10 pm the day I was ovulating. The next day he was working so we couldn't go to planned parenthood for the pill. Today at 10am we decided to finally go get the pill. The nurse told me there are some reviews saying the pill won't work if I'm over weight or the egg has already been fertilized. I'm currently 177 pounds. And I already was already ovulating the day he did it inside me. When I took the pill it had already been 36 hours and I have no side effects but I do I have watery discharge a lot !! I need some advice I'm scared it probably won't work

Bigger stomach after Plan B?

My girlfriend and I had sex about 9 days ago. She took Plan B about 27hrs after sex. We reused a condom; I didn't ejaculate inside of her. I don't think reusing a condom is as bad as ejaculating inside a female without a condom. So I thought the chances of her getting pregnant was low. So yesterday I saw her stomach and it seemed bigger than usual. Today, (April 5, 2009) Her stomach seemed a little bit bigger than yesterday. She hardly ate since then and I don't think the stomach can get bigger after only 9 days after sex IF she was pregnant. So I'm just wondering if there is anything that is happening or if this is normal? Please help.

Is the morning-after-pill (plan B) equivalent to an abortion?

Your GF should not be using the morning after pill as birth control. It’s way too many hormones for anything more than occasional emergency use. If you don’t believe a condom is sufficiently protective (and I’d argue that it is sufficient and y’all are worrying needlessly), please get a more reasonable kind of hormonal birth control such as BCP, an implant, or an injectable.I don’t know how you define abortion personally, but in my understanding a person needs to (at the very least) be pregnant to have an abortion. If you just had sex a moment ago, nothing has had a chance to get fertilized or implant in the uterine lining, so there’s no chance of anything getting aborted.I think worst nightmare is a bit of a stretch. Getting burned alive while listening to Rick Astley sounds worse. In theory if your GF were totally actually for realsies pregnant and took Plan B, the enormous amount of hormones could cause a miscarriage (medically termed an abortion) but that is not what the pill is for, and the likelihood that it would happen is far from a sure thing.Refer to point 1. GF really needs to stop the Plan B habit. Like ASAP.
