Difference Between Black And White German Shepherd

What is the difference between an alsatian and a german shepherd?

To my knowledge, they are one in the same. I am not sure of the spelling of the European shepherd either. Also check out the Belgian Shepherd and the two off shoots of it. Looking like a German shepherd and a collie but with rich dark fur. See John Wayne in Big Jake and you will see the breed of Belgian that resembles a collie. In the movie the dogs name is DOG. They resemble the German shepherds you see in America except for the markings and colorings and length of fur. All of them are exceptionally smart animals even when crossed with wolves. I once owned a 1/2 wolf/shepherd and he was very smart and extremely obedient and very protective of me. I raised him from a pup and never had any trouble from him at all. But since it has been a while and lots of things change in the dog world (breed wise) check with the AKC and the UKC about the breed as well. AKC... stands for American Kennel Club, UKC...stands for United Kingdom Kennel Club. You can also try the Westminster Kennel Club as well. Most dogs are composites of other breeds combined to make new breeds. Some mixes can produce beautiful as well as useful animals; such as:
Shepherds,Collies...mini,sheltie,stand... and tailed. Sight hunters like Greyhound,Borzoi,Wolf Hound and Scottish Deer Hound. Or lap dogs like Pekes, Lhasa Apso, Maltese,Mini Pin's,as well as some of the small terrier breeds. Hope this will help you out.

How different is the white German Shepherd from the regular breed?

“It depends.”The German Shepherd Dog standard has always called for rich or non-dilute colors. Always. The breed as a breed does carry genes for liver/red/chocolate dilution, blue dilution (NOT merle), and white. If a non-standard color of pup turns up in an otherwise standard litter, then the color is going to be the only major difference. Note that GSDs vary rather widely in their non-color attributes as well, all of the below are purebred GSDs:And they vary quite a bit!If, however, you are talking about the White Swiss Shepherd as an emerging new breed intentionally branching off of the German Shepherd Dog, then there will be more substantial differences.Bonus: red and blue dilute GSDs:

What's the size difference between wolves and German Shepherds?

It depends, because the size of wolves varies enormously between different areas, and they're quite a cosmopolitan species. The Arabian wolf only weighs 18 kg (40 lbs) on average—the size of a border collie. The Northern Rocky Mountain wolf usually weighs 32–68 kg (70–150 lbs); let’s say the average might be around 47 kg (104 lbs). That’s more than twice the size of an Arabian wolf! Eurasian wolves are usually a little smaller, averaging 39 kg (86 lb), but exceptionally large individuals have weighed 69–80 kg (152–176 lbs). The largest known subspecies of the grey wolf, the Kenai peninsula wolf, is extinct, but it’s estimated to have weighed 45–90 kg (100–200 lbs), with exceptional individuals up to about 115 kg (250 lbs).Male German Shepherds weigh 30–40 kg (66–88 lbs); the midpoint of that range is 35 kg (77 lbs): a little smaller than Eurasian wolves, markedly smaller than Northern Rocky Mountain wolves. So: if you live in North America or Europe, wolves are typically a bit bigger than German Shepherds (though much more powerful and agile). In India or the Arab peninsula, the wolves will be the smaller.

How much are white German Shepherds?

A white coat is a MAJOR fault for German Shepherds so they should not cost any more than any other pet quality pup you get from a reputable GSD breeder.

I don't agree with buying a dog from people who purposefully breed for faults like a white coat. You can find plenty of white GSD's in shelters/rescues and white GSD's even pop up in normal litters from real breeders. The difference is that they're not breeding for this fault and they don't charge any more for it than they would with another pet quality puppy.

ADD: White GSDs are AKC recognized, because they are German Shepherds. Being white doesn't make them any less a German Shepherd. They just can't be shown for conformation, because being white they are not to standard.

gsdluvrr: I think you got all the TD's, because most people don't believe that people who purposefully breed for conformational faults (white coats) can ever be reputable breeders. I'm one who holds that sentiment.

I have a all white german shepherd with a pink nose . Both the parents wer black and tans .?

If both parents were black and tan, then both parents carried the white gene. You have to explain a bit more. Does this dog have dark paw pads? You might just be seeing snow nose right now.

Also, the white gene is carried by German dogs as well. A lot of german breeders cull these at birth. There is nothing wrong with a white GSD. A white can be shown in UKC. Do you have a pedigree of this dog?

Question about white german shepherds?

So, I've frequently seen ads advertising white german shepherds. As far as I know, these aren't quality dogs though. I've heard boxers come in an all white too. Is it similar to a blue merle great dane, where the dog is just not good genetic material? Do white german shepherds and boxers give birth to blind and deaf pups?

I was hoping somebody more familiar with those 2 breeds could help shed some light on these white dogs.

NOTE: I am in NO way implying that I'd ever purchase one of these dogs. I think I know enough to know that these dogs are not as healthy as they should be. I'm just curious about why they are white (as opposed to fawn or sable, etc.) and if they have particular problems separate from their breed.
