Do Any Monstercat Fans Out There Have A Recommendation For Me

Do any monstercat fans out there have a recommendation for me?

Hiya, I'm new to the world of dubstep and I think I'm starting to really like it. I would like to buy a monstercat album from itunes... does anyone know of any that sound kind of nice and isn't super hardcore but still kinda bouncy and fun? I have the music taste of a grandma, please help.

Are you a person who likes non-mainstream music more than those top-chart songs?

I mostly don't listen to mainstream music, although I mostly don't hate it either. I listen to mostly metal and classical music. I find new music through: Discussion fora (often by asking for recommendations).Googling for recommendations.YouTube. Browsing for classical music on Wikipedia.Edit: The thread starter asked me to post some recommendations of classical music, so here come some of my favourite works, in no particular order:OperaRichard Wagner - Der Ring des Nibelungen, especially Götterdämmerung. Opera cycle based on Germanic and Scandinavian mythology. Arrigo Boito - Mefistofele. Based on Goethe's Faust. Features a great bass part for the title character, the devil. Charles Gounod - Faust. Also based on Goethe's Faust. More traditional than Boito's opera (above). Giuseppe Verdi - Attila. Loosely based on the historical Attila the Hun and his invasion of Italy. Features another great bass part for the title character. SymphoniesHavergal Brian's 1st, the Gothic Symphony. One of longest and largest symphonies ever written. Features singers, choir and lots of badass percussion.Gustav Mahler's 2nd, the Resurrection Symphony. Especially the first and the final movement are powerful.Anton Bruckner's 8th, the Apocalyptic. The opening of the final movement is one of the most epic parts ever. Hector Berlioz's Grande Symphonie Funebre et Triomphale. Some dark and heavy march-like melodies in here.Rued Langgaard's 15th, The Sea Storm. Features bass-baritone soloist and male chorus. Quite dark. OtherHector Berlioz's Te Deum (oratorio). Very sinister and atmospheric. Pavel Chesnokov's Do Not Reject Me or Do Not Cast Me Off (original title: Ne Otverzhi Mene). A song for oktavist soloist (i.e., an extremely deep-pitched bass singer) and a capella male choir.

What is the greatest piece of electronic music ever recorded?

It really depends on what you consider electronic music. In all technicalities you cannot record a piece of electronic music. If you consider electronic music to be any music that uses electronic noises, then almost all music nowadays is electronic. Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Blake Shelton, Kanye West and even Micheal Jackson all used electronic sounds (sounds that cannot be replicated in the Anolog Domain without technology) within their pieces of music. So to answer your question there really isn’t a “greatest piece of electronic music” but I do recommend you check out some of my favorite artist that produce EDM.Panda Eyes, Excision, Bassnectar, Datsik, Barely Alive, Virtual Riot, Zomboy, Adventure Club, Dodge and Fuski, Wooli, Pegboard Nerds, Bear Grillz (not the wilderness dude…)If you would like to check out some electronic music labels I would recommend the following.Never Say Die Records, Never Say Die Black Label, Disciple, Monstercat, Firepower Records

I have recently started listening to EDM. What are some good songs I can listen to?

What are some of the best electronic songs?

Reading the first half of your sub-question (the whole realm), I'd be tempted to suggest you have a go at the classics, the pioneers (I won't go as far back as Pierre Schaeffer and Daphne Oram).Tangerine Dream / Klaus SchulzeKraftwerk - Everything they ever did, my personal favourite being Electric CaféJean-Michel Jarre - Oxygène and EquinoxeWalter (before he became Wendy) Carlos - Switched on Bach... the first "popular" electronic music albumVangelis - pretty much everything... soundtrack to Blade Runner is awesomeMost of their discography predates MIDI and sampling. But I suspect from your second sub-question that you didn't really want the whole realm. Sorry, my prog-house, D&B and Trap culture is very limited. If you do want to know more, then also try some stuff from the late 20th Century, such as Aphex Twin, the Art of Noise, Susumu Hirasawa, the Prodigy, Massive Attack...

As a teenage boy, what kind of music do you listen to?

Currently, I'm listening to “I Don't Care” by Nav and Metro Boomin featured on Nav’s sophomore album Perfect Timing.I have a werid taste of mixing modern trap and hip hop with some 20th century music. For example, I had a playlist consisting of The Weeknd, Bryson Tiller, Kendrick Lamar, then Michael Jackson. See the outlier? I had R&B and rap mixed with Michael Jackson’s soulful Off The Wall album.I'd say my music taste in general is pretty modern and mainstream but sometimes there are artists who become my guilty pleasure and aren't the usual type of genre that I listen to. Alessia Cara and One Direction are my two “guilty pleasure”artists where their music is nothing alike to the majority of songs that I listen to.The music I listen to also depends on my mood. For example, when I was a sophomore in high school, I just listened to pure Nirvana. So my music taste jumps around and is varied but it's mainly modern music. If I had to pick three artists I've listened to the most recently, it would be these guys:The WeekndBryson TillerDrakeHonorable mentions: Michael Jackson, Alessia Cara, Nav, 21 Savage, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Bad Bunny. I listen to these people alot as well, I'm just not a daily and dedicated fan like I am to my top three.

What do you do when you need to listen to new music, but have no idea where to start looking?

Before, i used to listen to the radio. But that wasn’t enough for me.Then I just subscribed to some YouTube channels like Monstercat or Délicieuse Musique. Then I tried to listen to playlists on Spotify. It helped me a lot to discover new artists and songs. But…One day, a friend who loves music like I do, sent me this amazing website where you can listen to every song in the world !It’s called Every Noice At Once[1]. This website is incredible. You just have to click on the kind of music you want to listen to. Then the website will give you a lot of artists and several playlists. Here is a screenshot of the “map” (that’s how they call it).You can see that the scrollbar on the right is really small. So i let you imagine what there is below that : you’ll find country, nordic folk, italian jazz or even video game music.Just every music in the world !Enjoy !Footnotes[1] Every Noise at Once

What are your top three songs of 2018?

I’m actually just going to use this answer a place to recommend some really good songs, so in no particular order:Hurt - Oliver TreeI think the most interesting thing about Oliver Tree for me is that he’s a really talented performer, who is also willing to make his entire career out of a joke persona. His cover of Radiohead’s Karma Police from 2013, and his feature on Getter’s Forget It in 2016 show just how brilliant he is, but the immediate impression you form from looking at him is that he’s a joke performer. So with that as context, it’s hardly a surprise that Hurt, a song featuring Oliver crucified on a large scooter, is actually really, really good. The production value is phenomenal, and while the beat is arguably minimalist and simple, it’s still strong enough to back up the vocals and make a fun, punchy experience. The 2:26 runtime means it gets the point across and then leaves, rather than dragging on unnecessarily.Ribbons - The Good, the Bad, and the QueenI honestly feel obliged to put a Damon Albarn song on here, since he released 2 albums across his various projects (The Now Now by Gorillaz and Merrie Land from TGTBTQ) and both of them are pretty fantastic. However, I chose Ribbons because it’s honestly just such a joy to listen to.For some context, in the past few years Albarn has tended more and more towards slow, melancholy songs across all of his various aliases and bands, whether in The Magic Whip by Blur, The Now Now, or his solo album Everyday Robots, and I think this is the peak of that trend. Ribbons is very minimal, but holds well to the album’s themes of abandonment and dilapidation, while still telling a story of it’s own. The vocal harmonisation throughout the song is phenomenal, and the background carnival music adds a nice, slightly eerie touch to the whole thing.Something Human - MuseAs far as 80s homages go, you can’t get much better than this. The fast pace and brilliant synth really make this song just an absolute blast to listen to. In stark contrast to Ribbons, I enjoy this song because listening to it just puts a big stupid grin on my face. The lyrics are wonderfully hopeful and positive, to match the upbeat feel of the song.Honorable MentionsSelfish Liars, Dreams or Whatever - Indoor CreatureIdaho - GorillazLemon Boy, Boys will be Bugs- CavetownStarlight Brigade - TWRPAlien Boy - Oliver TreeThrees - SixFoxWhiskey
