Do British People Still Hate Germany In General

Why do many English people hate Germany?

It sounds like you’ve had an awful experience there. What is common in England is people making jokes in and around the topic of World War 2.You’ll also never find yourself more than a few minutes from a “2 World Wars and 1 World Cup” joke if you’re talking about football or something competitive.A lot of the time that is in jest (be that right or wrong) in that same way that many English people are somewhat cutthroat about other English people. Like the bitter rivalries between Football teams and so on.But I can honestly say that I’ve never felt any hate towards Germans. I even live in Germany with my German girlfriend. In many ways I’m jealous of Germany: you have better transport, football, cost of living, beer, IKEA prices. Your language is even more beautiful in many ways. What I feel you may have come across is some angry far right-wing people who, at time of writing, are incredibly empowered by what’s happening regarding Europe. But, a lot of people are often brought up with the association that Germany was bad. After you’re 14 most history taught is about WW1 and WW2. Films and Televison often depict what happened from the side of the English or Americans. That creates quite a negative association with the country itself.I remember being in school and a girl moved to Germany for a few months. When she came back she was slated for living there based off what people had learnt, and what their parents/grandparents had told them.I’d say that, on the whole, people don’t have a problem with Germans. I’ve never met any resistance to my girlfriend, or me moving out here.

People hate me because I'm German.?

Tell them to read some history about how the British Empire was created, and how the American crusade for democracy has taken place the last 20 years in the Middle East.

Why do so many English people hate Germans?

I am germand and I know a lot about it. Most american or english people think that all germans are racist, because of Hitler 1945. he killed millions of jewsh. People forget that this is the past and this generation is dead. Its still history. people need to learn that nazis are disrespected as well from germans. We are not racist.

Do English people like Germans?

Ah, zee Germans. We see them as the hun, those dastardly krauts that we had to teach a lesson to in two world wars.Only joking. I used to work for Bosch, so meet plenty of Germans, and you know what, I really like and respect them. There is a common trope that Germans do not have a sense of humour. A few of them don’t, but generally this idea is entirely wrong. In fact their sense of humour is closer to ours than many other nations I could mention. Did you know that Monty Python’s first foreign fans were Germans? Monty Python's Fliegender Zirkus - Wikipedia The German sense of humour is very dry, and some of them can even get us Brits confused as to when they are joking and when they are serious. Some people think Germans are rude. They are not, they are just direct and to the point. The British culture of not tackling an issue up front and directly seems odd to them, and it takes a while for them to get used to our go around the problem approach.Food. We think all Germans eat sausage and sauerkraut, and Germans think our bread is awful ( They are probably right on that one). We think their wine is awful, because they used to export Liebfraumilch to us, while keeping their decent wines to themselves. A German student in the UK commented on the sheer amount of microwave ready meals in UK supermarkets, so it is obvious the Germans like home cooking more than we do.Education. WE have made education more expensive in the UK, while Germany sees free education as a valuable asset. What’s more they value technical training for those who are not academically minded. I think Germany has got education right.Anti EU Brits will probably see the Germans as an enemy, intent on drawing Britain into a German led superstate. The Germans cannot understand this. They want us to stay in, and help them create a better Europe. Before the world wars, Germany was our natural ally in Europe (who do you think we were fighting alongside at Waterloo), but now we have decided that Europe is the source of all evil.I apologize to my German friends, but I do like your bread and beer. Kraftwerk is one of my favorite bands. Computer love is my ringtone.

Why do Brits, Germans and Frenchmen hate each other?

They don’t, generally speaking. There can be a bit of good-natured ribbing/joking sometimes, but there is no nationwide hatred.Speaking from a British perspective, it’s also good to be aware that historically, the relationship between England and France is different to the relationship between Scotland and France. In a “my enemy’s enemy is my friend” kind of way, Scotland and France often had quite close ties due to the common enemy of England. In Scotland, we call it the Auld Alliance. That was a long time ago though, and there is no hostility between France and England any more.Shorter answer though is simply that we don’t hate each other.

Does the Germans still want revenge for the Americans or the British or the French?

The Nazi infestation in Germany was a very bad scar on their history, must like slavery in the USA. In Germany, its taken very serious I've heard. So serious that any Nazi propaganda is illegal. I really don't think Germans have any hard-pressed feelings toward anyone. I had friends go on charity flood-relief trip there one spring and they said they were treated very well and everyone was extremely nice and hospitable (a lesson the French might want to take). Most rational people that didn't live through WWII shouldn't feel any anger toward someone that didn't have anything to do with their unfortunate past.

Do Europeans hate Germans?

Do people in Europe have any type of hatred towards those of German descent because of World War 2? I know a lot has changed since then, but is there still any bad blood that anyone knows of? especially with the British & French?
