Do Charity Shops Pay Volunteers Travel Expenses

I want to travel to Africa and work there for a charity or social business. But I cannot afford to pay in excess of £1000 to do this. Does anyone know of any companies operating out there that will take people on just as volunteers?

Hi there,I know that Challenges Abroad is great organisation that has a lot of experience and is working with people who want to volunteer abroad. They have close working relationships with many universities, Student Unions, and student-run Raise & Give societies,Volunteering abroad can cost a great amount of money.Once you decide you really want to help people, you want to see a new country, all you need to do is think of some fun ways to fundraise! You’ll have a whole year to fundraise for your trip. Where can I volunteer or work in exchange for food and shelter?

In America there are jobs called “Homemaker, Companion, Sitter” type jobs. After you’ve worked for an agency that does this so you get some experience you can get your state license and then work independently for people who need your services, the senior citizens and disabled. Usually you would be hired thru an ad you place and would be interviewed by the adult children or parent of the person who needs that service. Usually it’s a stipend type job but provides shelter (you’d live at their home) and you’d probably be on government food stamps (welfare). While the job allows you little time off, you do have to know some things about CNA and healthcare to assist the person if needed. Sometimes it could be a hospice type job, but state laws forbid you from touching that person in any way. That’s why you’d need the CNA training (which may require a license in the state you live in) so that maybe you could help lift the person out of a wheelchair and there’s a special way you’d do that so you don’t get your neck broken if they should flail and grab onto your neck. Of course you’d need to have some kind of health insurance when taking this type of slightly hands on type job. Otherwise you can’t touch them, you can’t even hand them a pill. These types of jobs require your undivided assistance because of their need, but on the other hand this type of job is usually temporary so you need to be flexible (save your earned money to be able to move on to the next situation where you’re needed). A homemaker cleans house (vacuums, makes the bed, washes clothes and puts them away, grocery shop, make meals, scrub down and sanitize the bathroom, gets the mail, takes them on doctor trips so you’d need a drivers license with a good driving record and of course a vehicle and good car insurance). Initially the people who need your services would interview you (maybe twice) and so you’d have to provide all your documentation and references. Know that most homes have a security system and cameras so that you’re legal.

I want to donate a fully functioning tanning bed to a charity or organization in need of funds. Who? How?

I have a tanning bed I no longer use at my salon. I would like to donate it to an organization, or charity in need of funds. They can raffle it off and keep the proceeds. How can I find an organization that wants this? I do not know how to donate anything except money and vehicles.

How much do USO performers earn when they travel to Afghanistan?

It really depends on the performer and the contracts they sign. Usually, performers donate their services and receive transportation, lodging, and/or a per diem payment as established by DOD regulation for their expenses.Top performers can afford to do this gratis, even paying the salaries of their support staffs. Groups on the way up (or down) the fame and status ladder may receive salaries at reduced or discounted rates, according to the terms of the contracts they sign with the USO organization.http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/...http://www.military.com/NewConte...

How do i cope with unbearable financial stress?

Real tough situation. Obviously any financial institution is going to think twice about offering another loan. If you can get a bank to do this though, this is probably your best bet to get rid of all the high interest credit card balances or other loans and roll them all into one. The other thing I can suggest is to turn to friends and family. Ask for assistance in borrowing a car. Maybe someone you know has a spare car you can borrow for a bit?
You have to write down your income and expenses. Do the math.
look at every item. Add up all of your monthly expenses then decide what expenses can you cut? Monthly Cable fees? DSL? Try the free trial version of AOL in the meantime or cut the cable tv all together stuff that are a luxury... until you can get to save more money and use the money you save to pay off other debt. The necessities (mortgage, phone, electric, gas etc).
Cut out the bad debt in other words, if you have several credit cards, transfer the balances on all of them to the lowest rate card. Then call the credit card company. Tell them you are having a hard time repaying and ask for a lower rate. They will rather do this than have you not pay at all.
I have provided a link to a site that deals with real people talking about debt. Maybe you can find more help there too.
I have also heard, but I maybe wrong if you go to the samaritans or salvation army for help they can help you with giving you a car or at least selling you one for real cheap. Most likely it will be an old car but at least it will get you from A to B which is all you need until you can get into a more stable financial position.
If you are worried about X-mas go to your local churches or as mentioned earlier, the salvation army, they may have gifts for children that are donated. I know our work place are doing a gift drive for charity. Don't be too proud in turning down help. That is what they are there for... helping people in need
