Do I Have Lupus Hypothyroidism Or Diabeties

Is lupus or diabetes more serious?

my dad was diagnosed with diabetes last september and was really upset about it. diabetes runs in both sides of my family. everyone on my dad's side (except my aunt) that is around my dad's age or is older has diabetes. some ppl on my mom's side has diabetes.
now my mom, who is an RN, was diagnosed with lupus yesterday and is crying right now.
im really scared right now because both of my parents have some type of disease. i feel like ill lose them both. i don't want to ask my mom who is really educated about lupus bc i don't want to make her more upset, but does lupus affect life expectancy?

and i know that i may be diagnosed with diabetes when i get older since it is so common in my family. but is lupus a genetic disease too?

How long does a person with hypothyroidism usually live?

Properly managed with meds, just as long as everyone else.  Don't believe me? WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT OVER THE LONG TERM?There is no cure for  hypothyroidism, and most patients have it for life. There are  exceptions: many patients with viral thyroiditis have their thyroid  function return to normal, as do some patients with thyroiditis after  pregnancy.Hypothyroidism may become more or less severe, and your dose of  thyroxine may need to change over time. You have to make a lifetime  commitment to treatment. But if you take your pills every day and work  with your doctor to get and keep your thyroxine dose right, you should  be able to keep your hypothyroidism completely controlled throughout  your life. Your symptoms should disappear and the serious effects of low  thyroid hormone should stop getting worse and should actually improve. If you keep your hypothyroidism well-controlled, it will not shorten  your life span. What is Hypothyroidism | ATA

I have type 2 diabetes, what is acl ?

Hi I am Chris, are you sure you do not mean the A1C test? Because the ACL is for a torn ligament. an A1C test is to check a diabetics blood sugar over a 3 month period of time. it takes the persons average. Not just what you see on your daily monitor everytime you take it. I also tend towards Type 2 diabetes, because I have Lupus, and depending on the medications I am on, I can become Insulin dependant, and when I am on certain medications and on them long term. they do the A1C test, to see what my blood sugar average is over a three month period. I have also seen recently the A1C tests available in some drug stores over the counter.
But like I mentioned before ACL has to do with a torn ligament and nothing to do with diabetes, it has more to do with injury. So I hope this cleared things up for you.

Good luck
Chris

Can the ER diagnose Lupus?

Better than waiting for a rash....... From the sound of it, you very much need to have the thyroid testing ... TSH and Antibodies (make sure BOTH!) All of this can be from thyroid disease.

Blessings

What can cause extreme fatigue in type 1 diabetes?

I am a type 1 juvenile diabetic and have had since 1993. I am currently 22 years old. I have had extreme fatigue problems for the past year and a half or so. I have hypothyroid and am medicated and recently had my thyroid rechecked and came back great, so that is not the cause. My A1C's have been okay (7.3ish). It is a constant battle being tired and lathargic on an almost daily basis. I've been consulting my physician as well as endocrinologist about this for months and nothing seems to be resolved. Has anyone had a similar issue? Any information would be great (other than to check with my doctors as I am still doing this).

Can diabetes be curable without medicine?

If you have type 1 diabetes, you must take daily insulin injections to keep your blood glucose in a normal range. Your body produces little or no insulin. Insulin is a vital hormone that helps your body convert food into energy. Without insulin, you would die.Source: In 3 Weeks, 71% Type 2 Diabetics Were Taken off MedicationIf you have type 2 diabetes, the answer to this question is much less clear. Many people can keep their blood glucose in a healthy range without medications (either oral diabetes medications or insulin injections) if they lose weight and keep their weight down, are regularly physically active, and follow a meal plan that helps them keep portion sizes under control and helps them spread the amount of carbohydrate they eat at each meal throughout the day.Eventually, however, many people with type 2 diabetes find that despite their best efforts, weight control, exercise and diet aren’t enough to keep their blood glucose in a healthy range. This is not unusual. One theory is that some people’s insulin-producing cells just get tired out from having to produce more and more insulin because their cells are resistant to the effects of insulin.

Is it possible to cure Lupus NephRitis by Chinese medicine?

This I'm not sure. My suggestion is not to try the Chinese medicine because it might make your condition worse. A lot of Chinese herbs have their own functions and they might not be suitable for some. Everyone’s body is different so I suggest you continue eating your medication. When I was first diagnosed with lupus, a biopsy was done on my kidneys and the doctor said I had a hole in my kidney . I was 15 then and I don't really understand. Thankfully it was discovered early and I did not have to go for dialysis. My mum tried to bring me to those famous Chinese physician and one of them said for my illness, go back to the doctor and eat their medication. He even asked my mum not to let me eat any Chinese medicine.I'm still on medication now for my lupus. Going for follow up. I do not eat any unnecessary medication.
